Tuesday Tutorial: Patchwork Christmas Card

Hi Everyone it's Stephanie here today with another Tuesday Tutorial.  Believe it or not Christmas is right around the corner, 91 days I believe!! Right now that may seem like a ways away but believe me it will be here before we know it.

This week we are featuring the new Doodlebug's North Pole Christmas Collection, and it has got to be my favorite christmas line. I love the modern prints and the traditional colors with pops of grey, Doodlebug has outdone themselves once again.

For my tutorial I am showing you how I put together my first Christmas card of the season. This line made it so easy because everything goes together so well.

Here it is:

SO lets get started!

Step One: Start with a card base, 4 1/2 x 3 3/4  piece of white cardstock and another white piece measuring 4x 3 1/2.  Section off your 4x3.5 piece of cardstock to use for your sunburst template. I left a 1 inch gap at the bottom and divided the upper portion. Once Completed cut the pieces apart to use as a template for your patterned paper.

Step Two: Use template pieces to cut your patterned paper pieces. Once done arrange them and adhear them together on the 4.5x 3 3/4 piece of white cardstockleaving an even white border around it. Then sew and adhear to card base.

Step Three: Using the circle Frames Cardstock Sticker place on white cardstock circle cut at 2 3/4, then punch 1 1/2 inch circle in the center. Add pop dots to back of frame and place on another round piece of white cardstock as the background.

Step Four: Adhear frame to card and place tiny pines doodle-pop in center. Add sentiment using mini rubons on white cardstock strip to card and that's it!
Easy Peasy :)

Hope you enjoyed!

Its a lot of fun to go and find the perfect tree! It's a tradition!

Holiday Wreath
by Sherry Cartwright

This holiday, take your scrapbooking and papercrafting supplies off the page!   Use them for crafts, cards, gifts and home decor.   I used Doodlebug's awesomely cute North Pole collection to create this wreath, adding to it some staples ---- pearls, jewels and buttons.

I traced a dinner plate, and a dessert plate inside of that circle, onto cardstock to make the base.  Cut it out.   Then it was ready decorate with handcut holly leaves of various sizes and using a variety of green papers, all folded in the center with the ScorPal.   I was sure to leave some still folded and gluing only the ends so that there was some dimension.   Then, decorate with all those cute doo-dads in your scrappy space.

I created a very small snow scene by the bow, then added two mini doodlepops to pull it altogether.
I'm ready to make another in a non-traditional color scheme. Falallalalalaallalalaaaaaaaa!

Heartland Paper + Tiffany = Spooky Banner

I'm excited to feature one of my favorite local scrapbook stores, Heartland Paper. And I don't say that because it's the only one near my home, it really has been one of my all time favorites for years. I took some of my first classes there and continue to enjoy cropping, shopping and just loving the inspiration I find every time I walk in the doors.

Which leads me to this darling paper crafted featured I saw the last time I walked in the doors for Heartland Paper. This darling "Spooky Banner." When I asked around I round out that our very own Tiffany Hood created this darling project that adorns their shelf behind the registers. So I asked her to share more photos and tell us how she created this for our followers.

Notes from Tiffany: I made the letters and background frames using the Happy Hauntings Cricut Cartridge.  It's about 3 1/2 feet long.  The individual pennants were cut with my paper trimmer and a ruler.

More Happy Mail with Stephanie and Monique

Thank You Happy Mail
by Stephanie Buice

There was no question in my mind who I was going to send happy mail to first, my mother in law is my sunshine. Since Brady was born in February my eyes have been opened to how Challenging being a mommy really is. It has been hard having my family so far away from us (Canada and AL are not side by side) but my mother-in-law who lives in GA has really stepped up to the plate. Not only is she an awesome grandma to Brady, she has also taken care of me as if I were her very own. There are times when a girl just wants her momma, and after having Brady that was when I wanted mine. My mom couldn't be here, and although I missed her Kathy made it so much easier for me.  God has truly blessed me with her, she is one of the most selfless and amazing women I know. I could never have done it without her and will be forever thankful. I love you Kathy :)

She's one of the kindest & warmest people I know and I really hope there will be a time that we will meet in real life. She has had a difficult time dealing with earthquakes and some personal matters, but she always manages to stay positive and look on the bright side of life. With this card I want to let her know how much I appreciate and admire her.
