Back to School: Teacher Gift Box by Jennifer

Hello Doodlebug fans! Jennifer here with a gift idea for teachers. For this project I used the awesome Back to School collection, which is just perfect for all of your school related creations.

As you can see I used the collection to make a small desk organizer gift set. Here's how it was done.

• The desk organizer started out as a photo cube, as seen above.
• The lid was removed and the sides of the cube were covered with patterned paper.
• Next the bottom edge of the organizer was then covered with washi tape. Tip: To get a more opaque look the edge was painted white, before adding the tape.
• The square inserts were covered with paper then glued in place. Embellishments were then added.

• To give the inside of the organizer a nice finished look, thin chipboard was used to cover the open areas. Some patterned paper was then used to cover the inside lip.
• Black foam core was then attached to the sides and bottom of the box. Use the foam to make dividers if you wish.
• Now the organizer is complete you can fill it with supplies. To keep everything neat, the pencils and Post Its were wrapped with cardstock and paper then and stuck together. The gift card was placed in a Mini Pocket and attached to the rest of the supplies, as shown.
• I also added a small sign (a sticker attached to a dowel) and personalized it with rub-ons and stickers.

Back to School: School Days Calendar by Traci

Hi Doodlebug fans! 

It's Traci and I'm on the blog with a project that serves two purposes today! When my boys were younger, part of the challenge during the school year was keeping track of everything! Homework, field trips, baseball games, programs, fundraisers, tests ... the list goes on and on. So we always had a school calendar in the kitchen to keep track of everything. My calendar back then wasn't very cute, but it was functional. If I'd had Doodlebug's new Back To School collection then, it could have been both!

I started my calendar with August, because here in GA, school starts early. But you could start yours with any month. The top portion can hold first day photos, favorite new outfit pictures, or even shots of the kids with their new teacher.

For the calendar portion, I kept it simple with a few stickers and Doodle-Pops. I just love the Skinny Alpha stickers ... there are so many on a sheet it was easy to spell out all of my months in different colors. And here's another tip, Doodlebug has wonderful Teensy Type stickers that would be perfect for adding the dates 1-31 to each calendar!

The washi tape that is part of this collection is so cute! It was perfect for running along the bottom of each calendar for extra color and a fun accent.

Once the calendar has been used for the year, take out your binding and put each 12"x12" layout in a scrapbook! Instant school album!! I love when projects serve double-duty!

Back to School Collection: A Book of First Days by Kathy Skou

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with a mini album featuring Doodlebug's new Back to School Collection.  Every year we take the "first day of school" picture...I decided to put them all in a fun mini to see how my daughter has changed through the years!  Take a peek: 

I started with Doodlebug's Plain and Simple 6x6 square chipboard album.  I covered all of the pages with the fun Back to School Papers mixed with some coordinating Petite Prints..  For my title, I mixed and matched a few different Doodlebug Alphabets including the new Skinny Cardstock Stickers, Chippers and Teensy Type letters.

I wanted to keep the feel of the book basically the same throughout, so I created some frame files using my Silhouette Cameo.  On each frame, I used my Silhouette sketch pens to write the grade.  Here's a look at the inside pages...



And then there's that one page that makes me sniffle....

I'm torn between being excited and sad for the first day of Senior Year picture!!!  Back to School's Stickers, Sprinkles and Doodlepops made this mini so easy to put together!  Now a little something for you... Patriotic Picnic Layout by Melinda Spinks

Hands up those of you who've purchased an entire themed collection just for one layout? We all get a little carried away when it comes to buying pretty papers and embellishments because they are just so darn irresistible, yes? Well today I'm going to share a layout I created using the Patriotic Picnic collection and as you can see... it doesn't have a thing to do with July 4.

My littlest man is just learning about critters and often comes inside with a snail or two so when he proudly 'catched a ant' I wanted to capture the moment for him. And, how delighted was I to see the adorable 'family picnic' patterned paper with ants all over the flip side.

TIP: Most themed collections come with a neutral or alternate pattern on the reverse side which gives you an opportunity to create outside of the theme.

Patriotic Picnic colours are very much attuned to the red, white and blue however there were hints of yellow, orange and green mixed in so I decided to add a small splash of yellow as an alternative pop of colour.

And as for the wee little ants... I just had to use them on my layout seeing as they were the main focus to the entire story and because they were just too darn adorable!

Sunkissed layout by Wendy Sue Anderson

Hi Doodlebug friends - it's Wendy Sue here today!  One of my favorite songs says "Oh, what do you do in the summertime?" And it goes on to talk about all of the fun things you might do (swim in a pool, count the clouds, etc.).  When I first saw the "Sunkissed" line, the song popped in my head, so it was basically mandatory that I create a layout with the song as the title.

These photos are just some quick pics I snapped one day last summer when the kids were just hanging out in the back yard (3 of  my 4 kids), but they pretty much encapsulated what we do on so many of our hot summer days - just hang out in the yard and relax and enjoy each other!

The banner was easy to create with the stickers and some foam adhesive dots.  Adding a bit of doodle twine was the perfect finishing touch.  Oh, and did I mention how much I love the new Skinny letter stickers?!?  VERY much - that's how much!

And the strips of embossed vellum are so light and airy and bright and pretty - I had to add several of those strips. :)

Check out the sprinkle shapes too - seriously, how fun are they?!?

Of course, I had to layer a sunshine doodle-pop right over the coordinating print...and the sunglasses fit too perfectly not to add them.  Doesn't that sunshine just make your day?

Patriotic Picnic: 4th of July Layout by Kathy

Hi Everyone, it's Kathy today with some brand spankin' new Patriotic Picnic!  This collection is full of fun patterns, and stickers.  It's perfect for all of your patriotic projects!  Even better, it coordinates with last year's Patriotic Parade!  I used some papers from both collections to scrap this adorable picture of my daughter and her doll all dressed up for the 2003 4th of July parade in Chatham, MA!

I LOVE the new Red, White & Blue Sprinkles Vellum!!! I die cut some fun stars from it and scattered them on my layout!

I think the new word stickers on the This and That Sticker Sheets are my favorite new Doodlebug addition.  I love clustering them!  They add the perfect touch!

I used some Ladybug Chippers and some Blue Jean Jack and Jill letters for my title.  I love the "big title" look and the Chippers make it so easy!

Patriotic Picnic: Uncle Sam Decoration by Jennifer

Hello Doodlebug fans! Jennifer here with my Patriotic Picnic project.

I decided to create an Uncle Sam decoration to sit in a alcove I have in my home's front entrance. The Uncle Sam image used for the piece, is a Silhouette file. But if you don't have a cutting machine, you could easily create something similar on your own.

I wanted my Uncle Sam to look pretty thick and solid, so I cut the front and back out of chipboard, then sandwiched 2 inch foam pieces on the inside. Strips of thin chipboard were glued to the sides, bottom and top. The piece was then covered with Patriotic Picnic patterned papers. 

The hat was embellished with chipboard pieces, buttons, star sprinkles, a border sticker and pixies.

The right side of Uncle Sam's beard was embellished with sprinkles, star sprinkles, star jewels and stickers. For some more detail and texture, a pinwheel was also added. 

Washi tape and twine were attached to the bottom of the beard, to add some color along with the letters "USA".

Sunkissed Collection: Colorful Mini Album by Silvia

 Hello, hello!!
Today I'm coming to show you the fabulous "Sunkissed" collection,
 this is a really beautiful and colorful collection, I enjoyed using it.
 I desingned an acrylic mini, and with my Cameo cut the same shape in the patterned paper.
  This mini has the shape of a simple flower, in the top I used Sprinkles for the center of the flower.

The Washi Tape and the Fancy Frills looks so beautiful!!

This Mini was thinking for small pictures,
they will look great on it!

 I used tulle, Doodle Twine ana Jewel to decorate the ring.
