Hello, Doodlebug friends. Today I'm sharing a project using some of the new Easter Express cutting files. Remember you can purchase these files at the Silhouette Design Store, for your Silhouette. Or If you have a different type of digital cutter like a Circuit, you can purchase SVG files from the Lori Whitlock store.
- The train was cut out of thin chipboard using my Silhouette. It was then mounted to foam core, cut out by hand, then cut apart as shown. This step was repeated for the opposite side. The wheels were cut out of thin chipboard and layered together to achieve thickness.
- Using foam core, I hand cut the back and front sections of the train.
- The pieces were glued together and empty sections were framed out with more foam core.
- Using the chipboard as a template multiple pieces of foam core were cut to the same shape. The pieces were then glued together. I used sandpaper to even out the edges and make the piece even.
- Cover all surfaces of the train with chipboard and cut some chipboard pieces to fit to fit in the windows.
Your train should like something like this once all the pieces are covered with chipboard. Now you can use your favorite DB patterned papers to cover each piece. Once the pieces are covered you can glue everything together. Cover the wheels with paper then attach them to the train. Embellish with stickers, die cuts, sprinkles etc.
I love the design of one wheel on the car, but since this piece is 3D, it wasn't practical and it had to have two.
Here's the train with one of the cars. These are great for holding treats or displaying some decorative eggs.
Some more pictures of the finished project.
I used my Silhouette to cut out vinyl letters for the "Easter Express" and animal die-cuts and stickers were used on the windows.
This is beyond amazing!!!!! You always create the most fabulous projects!
