CANDY CARNIVAL - HALLOWEEN JUNK JOURNAL | with Shellye

What's better than a plain junk journal?

A Halloween "Candy Carnival" one of course!

I started with a vintage hardbound book from my collection that measured 7"X10.75". I removed the covers and cleaned up the edges with a guillotine trimmer. Next I found the placement for the holes

and used a crop-a-dile to punch. The cover was decorated with a few swatches of paper, die-cuts and enamels.

Next, I removed the pages from a standard composition notebook and trimmed them all down to be just a bit smaller than the covers. The cover page was used as a template for the pages' holes.

To the inside I created five divider pages by cutting 12X12 papers down to 6" X 10.5".

Above I used an envelope to add a fun, inter-active element!

On a few of the notebook pages, I embellished with a strip of various washi tapes. As the journal is filled with entries and photos, more washi can be added.

A couple of the 4X6 journal cards were added to the dividers as flip-up pages. Just score one edge, add tape and it makes a cute peek-a-boo place for a photo!

And we can't forget about those adorable 6X6 paper pad papers! The also make nice mini-dividers; I placed a few of these throughout the album to break-up the continuous notebook pages.

At the tops of the five divider pages I made 1.5"X1" tabs and then corner-rounded the top edges before attaching. Each of the tabs were embellished with various clips.

Okay above is my favorite page! Here I've taken a 6X6 paper and tri-folded it to make a long pocket. After adhering the seam and bottom, the top was punched into half-of-a-circle. I decided to mount the pocket onto a larger swatch of paper and then attach to the notebook with paper tabs.

The great thing about junk journals is that you can make them as big and chunky as you'd like! Keep on adding to with more stickers, die-cuts and cuteness as you progress in completing the pages.
