MADE WITH LOVE NUTCRACKER PERPETUAL CALENDAR | with Jennifer

I know! I know! Nutcrackers are traditionally reserved for Christmas, but when I saw all the fun cookies and baking supplies in the Made With Love collection I knew I wanted to make a Nutcracker calendar that could serve up treats all year long.

I tried to make him more whimsical than "Christmasy" with cotton candy hair and fun cakes for his hat. The pastel palette from the collection helped too.

I borrowed a few treats from previous collections as well, like the cute macaroon and gingerbread man. I even tried to tone down his cheesy smile, for those of you who are afraid of Nutcrackers. lol

Since the Nutcracker and cubes I had on hand were made of wood, I made a wood base in a kitchen counter shape to go along with my project. (You could buy a simple wood perpetual calendar online or at your local craft store, if you prefer.) Each side of the counter was embellished with cute smiley faced stickers from the collection.

Here are a few tips and tricks on how I put this Nutcracker together.

  1. The Nutcrackers arms and legs were removed from the body, making it easier to apply the patterned paper.  Next I painted the face, hands, and cuffs.
  2. Since the body is curved, when applying your paper cut slits along the edge of the paper as shown in picture 1 and 2. This will help the paper lay nicely as you're gluing it down.  I usually use mod podge to apply and seal projects like these.
  3. I created the white collar and bottom section of his shirt on my Silhouette and glued them in place. For his belt I used a strip of brown cardstock and then layered a white Doodle Cut border on top. The arms were covered with matching paper.
  4. A wood wheel was painted and used to create a layer cake. Using my silhouette a chipboard circle and border were cut out to fit the wheel and create the look of frosting. I cut off the original crown from the Nutcracker, but kept the dome shaped piece to use for my cupcake. The tray was made from some wood ovals that I had, but thick chipboard or foam board would work just as well. I cut a chipboard border to fit the oval to and give it a slight lip.
  5. The cupcake was painted and then Doodle-cut sprinkles were added. I made a cupcake wrapper out of chipboard painted it and covered it with an accordion folded strip.
  6. After the cakes were finished they were glued (I used wood glue) onto the head. Some faux fur was hot glued on his head and chin, then trimmed. Details like the teeth and eyebrows were cut from vinyl. For his buttons and eyes I used sprinkles. To help attach the tray to the Nutcracker's hand a hole was drilled underneath then it was glued a small dowel that was attached to the Nutcracker's hand.

Thanks for joining me today and happy crafting! :)

MADE WITH LOVE POCKET PAGES | with Nathalie

I am sure we all have a few -or many- pictures of past and present kitchen adventures waiting to be documented.  Well, the patterns and sentiments in the Made with Love collection are just perfect to finally get the stories told, and what better way to safe keep them than a 8x8 Story Album.

The Ladybug 8x8 Story album is the perfect background for all the cheery kitchen memories.   I even customized the label of the album with the new My Type stickers, and You Bake Me Happy Doodle Stamps.

One of my favorite ways to build up specialty albums is by creating different size and interactive layouts.

For the cover/title page, I used a 4.5"x8" strip of Bake Me Happy Paper.  The title was created by combining My Type Alpha stickers and Icons stickers on vellum.

For the first layout, I created a pocket using Petite prints, on the back of the title page.  Here I will add the story in the memory spot from the Sugar Sprinkles paper.   I opted to enlarge the photo and embellish it with a few pieces from the Chit Chat and Odds and Ends packs.

The Story Album is a great way to combine scrapbooking with pocket pages in a fun way.  I love how easy and quick you can get your memories documented.

I love the possibilities of the Made with Love collection.  A bit of glue and scissors and you can create interactive elements and journal spots.   I trimmed one of the Recipe Cards to fit inside the pocket, and  cover the original print with stickers and die cuts.  Now, it is ready to house my journal lines.

How about transforming one of  the card bases to an interactive element for your pocket page.  Simply trim the  card front to fit the pocket, and then use a scoring tool to create the new fold of the flap.   This adds a tactile feature to the album, and helps to add extra pictures, embellishments and/or journaling.

I hope  this inspires you to pull your food adventure stories and document them with the gorgeous Made with Love collection!

MADE WITH LOVE MINI ALBUM | with Ashley

Hi All! Isn't everything cuter mini? Today I am sharing a little mini album I made featuring the Made with Love collection. I started with heavy weight chipboard and white card stock and decorated the cover with a little cluster. I have a video with a full tutorial including dimensions here.

I filled up the spine with lots of pink hearts and sprinkles so it has a playful look for display.

The inside binding is accordion folded to allow for 5 pages. Each one is double sided with stitching detail and has a pocket with a tag from the 12 x 12 papers that have been trimmed down.

Since it's a small album, I didn't want to go too heavy with the embellishing. I used elements from the mini sticker sheets and some more shape sprinkles to add little details to the pages.

I really enjoyed putting this album together! Hope you enjoyed seeing the details!

MADE WITH LOVE BIRTHDAY GIFT SET | with Wanda

Today I'm sharing a sweet birthday suite! A card, envelope and pillow box gift card holder that all match perfectly! The "Made With Love" collection is a great choice for birthday cards. And I always love using cupcakes as a theme for birthdays. Everyone loves cupcakes! These new Doodle Cuts are so fun and fabulous!

1

Here's a close up of the paper layers on the gift card holder. I made the gift card holder using the gorgeous gingham paper from the "Made With Love" collection and then decorated it with yummy papers and a sweet stamped birthday greeting. I die cut the cupcake parts from the papers in the collection and stamped the sentiment with the You Bake Me Happy Stamp Set!

1

The birthday card is a tri-fold card with a belly band made from papers and stickers. And one sweet little cupcake on top!!

1

The pillow box opens up to place a gift card inside and some paper confetti too. Very festive!

1

You can slide the belly band off the card to reveal the inside - again stamped with that awesome You Bake Me Happy stamp set in pretty pink ink.

1

I used more papers from the collection to line a matching pink envelope. I love how the card and the envelope go together so nicely. This is a great way to have your projects pop and look professional. It also shows some extra love by decorating the envelope!

1

I used stickers and Sprinkles to jazz up the outside of the envelope too - of course!

1

This project will work with any of your favorite Doodlebug Collections!! Great for Christmas, Mother's Day, Easter...any occasion. Just change up the main image (maybe change the cupcake to a gingerbread man...) No end to the fun possibilities!

MADE WITH LOVE SWEET KISSES LAYOUT | with Erica

Hey friends! Erica here with you today to share a fun layout using the Made with Love petite print assortment pack! This pack of 12x12 double-sided cardstock is the perfect match to the Made with Love collection and comes in fun petite prints!

The petite prints assortment packs are a great addition to the collections and help you to stretch your products even further! I wanted to use some of the papers in the Made with Love assortment pack to create a row of color coming out of some clouds! I trimmed down four different colors to about 1 inch and used my scissors to distress the edges to give them some texture. For the clouds I found a really cute Bella Blvd cut out that I backed with the Lily White Swiss Dot that also comes in the Made with Love assortment pack.

I added foam squares to the back of the cloud cut out to give it some dimension and raise it up from the background. This allowed me to tuck in my 3x3 photo of Eli James and sweet Lola Bean.

I used some of the Made with Love chit chat pieces and odds & ends to embellish around my layout. I kept all the embellishments towards the lower part of the layout giving my layout a lot of white space at the top which I love.

To finish off the page I sprinkled in some shape sprinkles in the same colors as the color strips at the top. Here is a look at my completed layout using the Made with Love collection.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

MADE WITH LOVE YOU BAKE ME HAPPY LAYOUT | with Kathy

I don't have littles anymore, and it's not always easy getting photos of my twenty-something... so when I saw these adorable pictures on Instagram of my niece's cutie helping in the kitchen I immediately asked her to send them to me. Being the wonderful niece she is, she sent them right along! They are the absolute perfect match for the Made with Love collection.  So much so, I actually scrapped a page... something I haven't done in quite a while.  Take a peek...

I am always in awe of moms who don't care how messy things get...I wasn't over the top but flour and glitter were 2 things that were very closely monitored in my house, lol!  For my layout, I started with the plaid side of the dab of butter cardstock and added some cinnamon heart cardstock along the bottom.  I cut a scallop strip using the borders and edges doodle cut dies.   I also added a strip of cinnamon hearts along the top of the page with the yellow scallop strip from the this and that sticker sheet and added a zig zag stitch.

I just love the mixer.. I need one in this exact color for my kitchen!  I created a fun little cluster using the icons stickers... and gave them all some mini sprinkle hearts!  Those eggs... so stinkin' cute!

And of course I couldn't resist the adorable flour and sugar canisters... and that little measuring cup!  I finished off the layout with some more stickers from the icon stickers and my title was created using pieces from the Chit Chat pack.  I just love her sweet face... and I guess the saying is true... messy hands, happy heart!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

MADE WITH LOVE RECIPE HOLDER | with Shellye

Today I'm sharing a repurposed Valentine sign that I turned into an everyday recipe holder using the new "Made With Love" Collection!

Any type of signage will work, but I've used a Valentine mason jar-shaped sign from the Dollar General.  I removed the jute bow and the gingham hearts before starting:

Next, I cut strips of patterned paper that matched the sizes of the "slats" and glued them over the painted area of the sign.

I wanted to add some color along the seams of the slats, so I cut strips of the Paper Frills in half and then glued them just along the edge.

I cut strips of paper to cover two wooden clothespins and then glue them to the two middle slats.  To the bottom right, I added a sticker and Doodle Pops!

To the top (below the metal lid) I added a pink scalloped background that I cut from a card base.  Next, I wound chunky twine around horizontally and then layered on die-cuts, stickers and Doodle Pops.

I love that the sign can be hung or placed on an easel for easy viewing of the recipe that's been clipped on.  What a sweet gift for your favorite baker...just add hand-written recipe cards and a blank booklet of the fun Recipe Cards!

MADE WITH LOVE APRON MINI ALBUM | with Traci

I'm always looking for fun new ways to make, display, and gift mini albums.  So when the amazingly cute Made With Love collection was introduced, my brain was in overdrive with ideas! One of those ideas was inspired by the cute little apron from the odds & ends.  I made an apron shaped box to hold not only a fun accordion-shaped mini album, but also a few favorite recipes!  I'm excited to give this little gift to a good friend who loves to bake.

Let's start with the box.  I used a Lori Whitlock cutting file called Cook's Apron Box.  I cut the box out of white card stock and covered the sides with the adorable Bake Me Happy paper.  My pocket was easy since I love plaid, and the precious little utensils look adorable tucked inside!

I added heart sprinkles to the front of the pocket, and also love how they look to anchor the ribbon ... CUTE!

Next, I used the Silhouette software to weld several apron shapes together.  I cut 3 aprons from 12x12 card stock twice (adding a little tab to one of them) and then glued them together to create a 6-panel album.

Next up, decorating all of the cute apron pages.  That's always the really fun part!  When I do shaped minis I like a simple scallop circle for my pictures.  Here I used a 3" scallop circle punch, and a 2.5" round circle punch.  Isn't that wreath cute layered on the page above?

I can see cute little pictures of me and Rylee baking cookies on these pages! Oh, and how fun are those shape sprinkles, shaped like sprinkles!!!  LOL!!  Love them!!

That little speech bubble says it all ... All You Need Is Love.... oh, and Doodlebug paper.  And Doodlebug odds & ends.  And Doodlebug sprinkles.  And Doodlebug everything! because seriously, it is Just. So. Cute!   Thanks so much for letting me share with you today!  Until next time, happy crafting friends!
