HOMETOWN USA MASCULINE CARDS | with Karen

One of the things that I love about Doodlebug collections is how versatile they really are. While the theme of a collection is always really clear and strong, there are also lots of ways to use bits and pieces for something a little different!

All-three-1

So for today's project, I decided to play around with that idea with the new Hometown USA collection. With Father's Day coming up here in Canada and the US, the masculine colours from this collection seemed like they could be a good fit! And I had so much fun creating those, I threw in a masculine themed birthday card for good measure!

Closeup-1

One of my favourite parts of this new collection are the silver metallic accents. These little die cuts from the Odds and Ends pack are so cute on their own - but add a metallic accent on the legs of the BBQ, the utensils and even on the pop bottle and the card really has a little something special!

Closeup-2

And can I just say that the cola theme in this collection is delightful! I think that this card, with the classic vending machine and cooler die cuts, is my favourite of the three. I feel like it is a classic image that could work on Father's Day or birthday cards!

All-three-2

While I think they still have a classic American feel to them, I also think they they really work in this context too! So grab your favourite collection and see what you can do to create a set of cards that is a little bit unexpected! They might become some of your favourite creations ever. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

SNOW MUCH FUN BIRTHDAY & THANK YOU CARDS | with Karen

It has been absolutely freezing up here in Calgary - you know, the kind of cold that makes you wonder why you don't live somewhere else. But the good news is that this weather is the perfect crafting weather! Absolutely no guilt that I am sitting at the table crafting instead of being out and about.

  All-three-1

And with Christmas behind us, it's a great time to top up my card stash. I have always loved making seasonal birthday and thank-you cards, so the weather, together with Doodlebug's new Snow Much Fun collection, are the perfect combination for the task.

  Odds-and-Ends

These cards utilize the coordinating Cards & Envelopes together with some patterned paper from the 6x6 patterned paper pack for the bases. I did a bunch of layering of die cut pieces from both the Chit Chat and Odds and Ends packs to create each of the little scenes, using foam adhesive on some to add some pop.

  Sprinkles

Um, can we just take a minute to admire how beautiful that snowflake paper is?!!! Okay, moving on...To finish off, I added some Sprinkles for some more texture and I was all finished.

  All-three-2

I love how this set turned out! I have a feeling they will not last long in the card stash...in fact, one already found a new home for a January birthday in our family. So, if it is cold where you are, take it as a sign that the universe is giving you permission to craft! Not that we needed permission... :) Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HELLO AGAIN FLORAL CARDS | with Karen

Summer is full of beautiful flowers, and I am not talking about the ones that are our in our gardens! I am talking about the ones you can find in the new Hello Again collection from Doodlebug. If you love florals as much as I do, this collection is needs to find it's way to your crafty space. And if not, I have a feeling you will be jumping on the floral train soon!

For my first project, I decided to feature the floral die cuts that you can find in the Bits and Pieces pack as part of this collection. I love these packs because you don't have to have fancy cutting machines to make beautiful crafts. I also love these packs when I craft with kids because there is no fussy cutting. Everything is cut, there are a variety of shapes and sizes to work from, and all the pieces layer and coordinate perfectly! It really makes card making a breeze!

In this particular collection, there are some fun paper tags in the Bits and Pieces pack too. I layered some of the florals on top of those pieces with some foam adhesive for some dimension and interested. And what makes for an even more beautiful layer? A doily, of course. I have loved Doodlebug doilies for crating since I found the company and I am so glad to see them featured in this collection again. They come in all the amazing Doodlebug colours and in two different sizes.

Finally, one of reason this collection packs a punch is because of the gold foil accents. You will find the foil on different elements throughout this collection and it really does add a little "something". My favourite are the Gold Sprinkles - the shine on these is amazing. I wanted to use the whole pack on these cards!

While I do love my garden this time of year, I also love that I can have a craft garden in my craft space too! I know you will love this collection as much as I do. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

PETITE PRINTS DOODLE CUT CARDS | with Kathy

The new Candy Stripe-Sprinkles and Plaid-Polka Dot Petite Prints are so bright and colorful, they are the perfect papers to use with the Doodle Cuts stand alone dies!  I created a couple of fun cards using this combination, take a peek...

I started with the adorable kitty from the Pretty Kitty Doodle Cuts.  He's hiding in the flower patch!  The flowers are cut using both the Thanks a Bunch Doodle Cut flowers and the Hello Fall Doodle Cuts. I love the combination of colors and patterns from the Petite Prints... they give the cards so much texture!

I finished my card with a little Hello stamp from the Bugs & Kisses Doodle Stamps.  I stamped it on the banner from the All Occasions Large Tags Doodle Cuts.

For my next card, I used the two Doodle Cuts sets from the Doggone Cute Collection.  That little puppy just makes me smile.  I gave him a balloon, cut using the balloon Doodle Cut from the Party Animals set, and the sentiment is from the Doggone Cute Doodle Stamps set.

I finished the card by adding a sprinkle to the dog tag, and a little birdie from the Purrfect Pals Shaped Sprinkles.

I just love how I can make my own critters and scenes in the Doodlebug Rainbow of colors!  Have you used the new Petite Prints collections in any projects?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook & Instagram.  We love to see your creations.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by!

DOGGONE CUTE PUP CARDS | with Karen

Dog lovers unite! Nope, animal lovers unite! Actually - anyone who loves a cute Doodlebug collection, unite! The Doggone Cute collection has hit the crafty table and I am "paw-sitively" smitten. This collection is everything that will make you smile - like I did the whole time I was "having a ball" making my first set of cards.

All-3-One

To create this first set of cards, I grabbed the Doggone Cute assortment of Cards & Envelopes and got to work layering some amazing patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad and some of the cute shapes from the Bits & Pieces die cuts. I love the bits and pieces because they add great dimensions and some really fun shapes - like mini pieces of lined paper and gift tags!

Die-cuts-1

From there, I grabbed the Odds & Ends die cuts and started adding some cute little characters. This part actually took me forever because I was having a really hard time choosing the pups I wanted to feature! There is a huge variety of poses and colours in this set - it really is so much fun to sort through.

Die-Cuts-2

Once I finally got those all sorted, I topped off the cards with a sentiment from the Chit Chat pack and I was all set. All of the die cuts were added with foam adhesive just to give a little bit of dimension between each of them and the card background. They are still thin enough to pop in the mail, but have a little fun pop!

All-3-Two

Dog lover or not, I hope these little cards made you smile, especially if you are having a "ruff" day". I really can't wait to get back to the crafty table to keep creating with this collection. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

MONSTER MADNESS POP UP CARD | with Kathy

Happy Halloween!  Have you been creating with the Monster Madness collection?  I just can't get enough of the adorable little monsters!  I made some more using the new Sweet Tooth and Party Animal Doodle Cuts sets, and decided to use them in a birthday pop up card... take a peek...

I just love these little guys... and the fun balloons, cupcakes and presents are too cute!

For my sentiment I pulled out my Doodle Cuts Happy Birthday Dies.  I cut the words and glued them together, then to the monsters to  make it look like they are holding the words like a banner.  The "from all of us" sentiment is from the Spooky Fun Cardstock.

I love how the pop up gives so much dimension to my little scene. And of course we can't forget the front of the card... I used one of the cut-aparts on the Spooky Fun double sided cardstock, and added a little balloon from the doodle cuts.

The pop up card was really easy to make.  I've put together a little tutorial below.

1.  I started by cutting my card base and an insert.  The base is 10"x7", folded in half.  The insert is 9.75" x 6.75" also folded in half.  I then glued the insert into the card base.

2.  Next I added my bottom pop out.  This pop out piece is 6" x 4".  I scored it at .5", 2" and 3.5".  I then added double sided tape to the two .5" tabs.  I centered the piece in my card base, making sure that the center score line was aligned with the card base fold.  I then took off the tape cover strip, and while holding the piece in place, folded the ends under and secured.

3.  This is what the card looks like when finished.

4.  I then added the second pop out piece.  This piece is 3.75" x 3".  I scored it at .5", 1.5" and 2.5". I opened up my card,  then aligned the center score line on this piece with the top of the first pop out piece.  I held it in place, removed the adhesive cover and tucked them under like I did with the previous piece.

5.  This is what the card looks like when the two pop ups are done.

All that was left was to add all of my monsters, balloons, presents etc!

That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

MY HAPPY PLACE BIRTHDAY CARD | with Kathy

The new My Happy Place Collection is so much fun!  The colors, the icons.... and the cut files!  If you know me, you know I love Doodlebug's cut files, and When I saw the Bird in Cage file I immediately had an idea for a fun box card.  Take a peek....

I turned the flat birdcage into a 3D shape, where the little birdie hangs down!  In addition to using some papers from the collection, I also added some of the flowers from the Bits & Pieces pack.  These flowers are perfect to embellish just about anything!  I also used the perfectly punny sentiment from the Chit Chat pack.

To make the cage stand up, I added 2 thin strips of cardstock, folded into a box shape to the top and bottom of the cage pieces, then I layered the back piece of the cage so they were centered. To attach the bird, I glued a strip the same thickness as the top and bottom boxes and about 1" wider than the folded box.  I scored glued the bird and his perch to the center, then folded back about 1/2" on each side of the strip and glued the folded sections to the side of the box on the top.  This way he hangs freely.

Since the top and bottom "box strips" are centered and the same size, the card can fold flat for mailing.  I thought this would also make a darling anniversary or wedding card.  You could create another birdie, mirror image and add it to the perch with his friend!

Have you created any projects using the My Happy Place Collection or cut files?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook & Instagram.  We love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

FAIRY GARDEN ALL OCCASION CARDS | with Wanda

Hey friends! I'm here on the blog today to share a trio of cards made with the Fairy Garden Collection! I used lots of papers, stickers and Doodle Pops to make some happy greetings for all occasions. I like to have cards ready to go if I need one! I made a happy birthday card, a thank you card, and a just because card! All three use the same card layout so they came together quick, fun and easy! The Doodle Pops are the featured element and all the papers are from the 6x6 paper pads to be the right scale for A2 cards.

One of my go-to design elements is to use twine and a button as an embellishment. It adds a little bit of cheer and texture to a card or scrapbook page.

1

The sentiments on all three cards are from the 12x12 Sticker Sheet from the Fairy Garden Collection. Big, bold and colorful! And they match the colors of the papers perfectly, which always ties a project together.

1

I used the Doodlebug Borders and Edges Dies to make that pretty scallop detail on the left side of the cards.

I added a few Sprinkles here and there to add shine to my cards. This card sketch/layout works for all year round - I'm already thinking of Christmas cards!

So happy to see you here on the Doodlebug Blog - I am excited to share the next new collection with you! Until then, stay crafty my friends!

CUPCAKE BIRTHDAY SET | with Kathy

Have you seen the new Hey Cupcake Party Animal - Girl Doodle Stamps??  Seriously they are everything a girl could ask for....kitties, hedgehogs, llamas...  I'm in love.  As soon as my box arrived, I pulled them out and set to work!  I put together this sweet little birthday set... take a peek...

I thought it would be cute to put together a fun "social distancing" birthday card.  The kitty, hedgehog and balloon are from the Party Animal Girl stamp set, and the flowers are from the new Birthday Girl Stamp set. (I added some glitter sprinkles to some of the centers) I love how the happy birthday sentiment was the perfect size to fit in the balloon!  I used the new Borders and Edges Dies to make the curtain and the line for the grass below.

I also decorated a little gift bag as well to go along with my card.  Of course I had to pick another kitty stamp!  I love the balloon kitty on the Hey Cupcake Birthday Bash paper so I copied the look using the stamps.  The clouds are from the Rainbows and Unicorns Stamp set.

Aren't the stamp images just the cutest?  Would you like to make your own gift set?  I created SVG files for the Window Card and the Cute Bag and they are available exclusively in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop.  If you create something with them, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook or Instagram, we love to see your projects!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
