FUN AT THE PARK CARDS | with Karen

During the summer, my family loves to take in a fair or market. And while these fairs are nothing compared to the magical one we all know and love, there is one thing they have in common with some of the ones we visit up here in Canada - food! Food trucks have become a big part of summer up here for my hungry and adventurous teens so I thought I would celebrate all things "yummy" in this post today!

All-three-1

While the Fun in the Park collection is definitely fun, it is also YUMMY! This collection is filled with everything from hotdogs to cotton candy to ice cream! You will find them on the patterned papers and in all the embellishments, including the ones I pulled from the Odds and Ends collection. For each card, I selected a type of food and then created a little scene for each -featuring the ones I know my family likes the most.

Closeup-2

I added a bity of lettering onto some on the die cuts to theme the cards for a birthday celebration...

Closeup-1

... and then layered away with foam adhesive to get some dimension. In fact, don't be afraid to use different types of adhesive on each die cut. This little popcorn bucket pops more at the top then it does at the bottom because I used foam adhesive of different thickness.

All-three-2

I know that these cards are going to make my family smile and think of summer memories. And isn't that what paper crafting is all about?! Thanks for stopping by!

MADE WITH LOVE CARDS | with Karen

Sometimes there are collections that just speak to who we are as crafters and creators. Doodlebug's Made with Love collection is one of those collections for me. I spend equal time in my kitchen and crafty area - in fact, my crafty area shares a space with my kitchen. So every time I make a project with this collection, it really just feels like it is mine!

First-Photo

For today's project, I wanted to create some cards for some of the people closest to me that have birthdays coming up - people who I know will appreciate the adorable icons in this collection as much as I do. I started each card with layered paper from the 12x12 collection on regular A2 sized card bases that I cut from plain white cardstock.

Odds-and-Ends

And then they fun started - I laid out all of the Odds and Ends die cuts and selected the ones I wanted for each of my recipients, matching them to puns and sentiments from the Chit Chat packs. This part is always the most fun for me...while the cards have a similar shape and feel, the icon selection really sets each one apart for the recipient and can actually take me a long time to sort out. I always try different combinations and swap out shapes and sizes until things seem just right.

Mini-Jewels

Then I embellished with a some Mini Jewels for that extra sparkle and added a bit of hand-drawn stitching.

Final-photo

This playful collection is wonderful for so many reasons - for me, it's a way to share a bit of myself with those that I love. It's no wonder creating with this collection always makes me smile! Thanks for stopping by!

OVER THE RAINBOW GNOME SWEET GNOME CARDS | with Karen

Sometimes, a paper collection comes along that makes you want to squeal because of all the cuteness. Let's just say that when the new Over the Rainbow collection arrived at my home, you could probably hear me squealing all the way in the US! This new collection is absolutely delightful. And I couldn't wait to get started making projects.

The first thing I decided to do was make some cards so I could share the delightfulness! Out came the Gnome Sweet Gnome stamps and the coordinating Cards & Envelopes and I got to work.

This stamp set is amazing because you can create all sorts of scenes with the characters. I did a little bit of masking here to experiment with the gnome character holding the flower and having the cloud and second flower appear to be behind other shapes.

And because this little gnome was as cute as she could be, I did some more masking here to add the rainbow and flowers with her.

But as you can see, switch up the additional shapes and you have a completely different scene. This is the same gnome from the first card, just placed with other objects. Oh, and because Doodlebug includes some cute eye/mouth stamps in the set, you can turn any of the objects into Doodlebug characters of their own. This is the same cloud stamp from the other two cards - just with a little personality of his own!

This collection is as versatile as they come. Put that together with the overall cuteness factor and you have a collection here that you will be wanting to craft with all year. Let's just say that it hasn't left my crafty table since it arrived! What does that mean? More cuteness to come! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

FARMERS MARKET CARD TRIO | with Wanda

Hey hey hey! It's Wanda here, once again, using the fabulous Farmers Market Collection! Yippeeeeeee! Hey, guess what? I made some non-holiday cards! I thought it was time we could use some more birthday cards and just because cards, and this fun collection is perfect for it!! Today, I'm sharing a trio of fun and cheerful cards that I hope will make you smile!

All three cards are white A2 sized card bases. I used the awesome 12x12 text patterned paper as the background for all three cards also. I do love a good text pattern.... So I have two birthday cards and one just because card. Each card features a Doodle Pop as the focus, some mini doilies, and lots of color! Here is my trio....

20

Look at these delicious Doodle Pops!!! Three layers, four layers...oh my! These are just the happiest things ever!

20

I used basically the same card design/layout for each card. Either a stitched circle or a stitched rectangle, offset on the card... Then all the embellishments and doilies. Oh, and some paint splashes too. I really just went to town mixing and matching all these colors. Everything is from the same collection - Farmers Market.

20

20

The little Beehive Doodle Pop is a shaker! Bzzzzz. I added a couple of flowers and a heart to that sweet little hive. Oh, and some buzzin' bees too.

20

I used some Chit Chat sentiments along the bottom of each card and that just ups the cuteness factor. Everything is done for you! These cards come together easily and the combinations of elements is endless!

20

I will see you again right here soon! Until then, happy crafting!

FARMERS MARKET LAYERED FLOWER CARDS | with Karen

When the new Farmers Market collection arrived at my house, I was smitten. Fall is my favorite time of the year and all the harvest fun that comes with the end of summer really warms my heart! So while I thought I would first be grabbing for fun fruits and cute harvest papers to craft with, it was actually the Hello Fall Doodle Cuts that caught my eye. A whole set of die cuts just for flowers?! Yes, please!

All-three-2

I decided to start a set of cards with the coordinating Cards & Envelopes and added a background layer of the 12x12 papers on each - just for some more color. Then, I got my die cut machine and got to work!

Closeup-1

These Doodle Cuts create the most beautiful layered flowers! I used textured card stock for all my cuts, coordinating them with the collection's color scheme. I layered some of the flowers with foam adhesive for even more dimension.

Closeup-2

I then added a sentiment from the Chit Chat set on each, putting together a series of cards I can use for birthdays this season.

Closeup-3

A little Sprinkle or two here and there added a little texture and shine to the cards. Voila - a beautiful fall bouquet of cards!

All-three-1

Flowers might not be the first thing I think of when autumn crosses my mind, but this awesome Doodle Cut set is going to be making a regular round on my crafty table all times of the year now - reminding what I have been missing out on! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

FUN AT THE PARK SPANNER CARDS | with Karen

Okay, let me tell you a secret. Crafting with the new Fun at the Park collection is FUN! In fact, it is almost as fun as going to the park. No, really! The colours, the icons, the characters - it really has brought me a lot of joy this month (and it is a whole lot cheaper than actually going to the park - especially for this Canadian).

Spanner-All-three-1

So I decided to put the collection to good use on a set of gender neutral spanner cards - because you know what else is fun? Fun fold cards like spanner cards, of course!

Spanner-side-view

Not only are the colours and patterns in this collection perfect for any gender and really, any occasion, there are all sorts of embellishments like the Paper Frills that really dress up elements on fun fold cards.

Spanners-odds-and-ends-2

Crack open the Odds and Ends pack and peruse the characters to your hearts content. Move over Mr. Mouse - there are some cute Doodlebug characters in town! I chose the popcorn machine, camera and ice cream stand as my focal points, but with so many shapes to choose from in this set, there are so many options.

Spanners-odds-and-ends

Add a little stamped sentiment from the Food at the Park stamp set and your cards come together just like that! Colourful, cute fun and ready for any special person in your life!

Spanner-All-three-2

Hmmm...I wonder if I can arrange a Meet and Greet with one of the Doodlebug characters! In fact, maybe it's time for a Doodlebug Theme Park! Can you imagine the fun we would have there?  Thanks for stopping by!

SWEET BIRTHDAY CARDS | with Maryám

I love my doodle stamps! In case you didn't know, in every new collection Doodlebug releases, we usually get 1 or 2 new sets of clear photopolymer stamps, plus coordinating dies to help us cut all the little images. For today's project, I'm going to be mainly using the stamp sets from the Hey Cupcake and Party Time collections to create two adorable cards.

To create my cards, I started by stamping some images from the Doodle Stamps - Birthday Boy, Doodle Stamps - Birthday Girl, and Doodle Stamps - Party Animal - Girl onto smooth white cardstock. Next, I grabbed my box of Polychromos Colored Pencils and started to color my images trying to follow the same color palette from the collections I mentioned earlier.

Once I finished coloring my images, I grabbed the coordinating dies for each one of the stamps sets I used before, positioned all the dies in place, taped them with a little bit of washi tape to secure them in place, and run them through my die-cutting machine.

Now that I had all elements I needed, I played with some different compositions until I decided on one. For the first, I decided to do go with a girl-themed card and used some pattern paper from the Hey Cupcake collection to make it more fun and colorful. For the sentiment, I used "It's Your Birthday" from the Doodle Stamps - Happy Birthday which I white heat embossed on black cardstock.

For my second card, I used the two remaining images I colored- a cook boy and a cake- and created a fun composition in which it looks like the little boy just made a delicious cake. For the sentiment, I used "happy birthday" that I white heat embossed on black cardstock, and finished up my project by adding sequins, sprinkles, and of course, the brand-new mini jewels that are an absolute favorite of mine!

That is it for today. I hope you guys enjoyed this post and liked the ideas I shared. If you have any questions just leave a comment below or send me an email. I'll be happy to help you.

Have an awesome day!

BIRTHDAY SHAPED BOX CARDS | with Kathy

There is not much that makes me happier than puppies and kitties!  So when I saw the new Hey Cupcake, and Party time Collections in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop, I had to make some fun birthday cards!  Take a peek...

I think a puppy or kitty popping out of a present would absolutely make someone's day, don't you??

For the kitty card, I started with the Hey Cupcake Cat in Present SVG.  I used the Cupcake Sprinkles paper to make my present box and the Swimming Pool striped side of the Party Purrfect paper for my bow.  To complete, I added a purr-fect sentiment from the Hey Cupcake Chit Chat pieces.

I am a crazy cat lady, but I couldn't leave out the doggie lovers!  I used the Party Time Dog in Present file as the start for this card.  I love all Doodlebug plaid papers, so I used the plaid side of the Party Time Party Boy paper for my present and tied it up with a bow made from the Hats off paper.  I finished it off with the fun green Happy Birthday Chit chat sentiment.

Have you made any projects using the Hey Cupcake or Party Time Collections or Cut files?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram, we always love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
