TINSEL TIME CHRISTMAS CARDS | with Guest Designer Mary-Ann Maldonado

Hey everyone! I am here with my second guest spot for Doodlebug, and I am super excited to share my creations today. I made four super easy, colorful, and fun cards. I am titling this post, Pete and Repeat! I remember that game as a kid in the 70's and 80's! If you are not as old as me, it is a game where you pester those around you. Anything they say or do, you repeat it. It was quite fun and annoying at the same time! Today, I am sticking with the repeat theme. A little less annoying than the actual game!

Can you tell why I titled this Repeat? Each of these cards has a repetitive pattern. With the Tinsel Town Collection, you get many fun pieces in the Odds & Ends Pack. I separated the package into like items and then decided which cards to make. If I hadn't stopped myself, I could have created about 20 more cards, just as easily!

I like dimension, so I use a lot of foam tape and foam squares. All of these cards can be created without using foam. They would be flatter and easier to mail. But I am addicted! This Doodle Pop screamed at me! I had to use it. I used the puffy candy canes to make a repeat pattern in the back. Then, placed the Doodle Pop on top of the sticker that was the same thing! Easy-peasy! The next card was pretty much the same process but with the silver stars.

Take a look at the bottle brush ephemera pieces. I lined them up like a forest and had another quick card. Once I added the mini jewels to the existing ornaments, it was done!

For my last card, I used the Tinsel Town Acetate as my card base. It really is spectacular! For this one, I grabbed out all the tree and ornament boxes. Layered them around the center of the card and used foam for a bit of dimension. I used almost all of the Odds & Ends pieces that decorate a tree! Again, repeating a pattern to produce lots of easy, beautiful cards.

So, you have a choice to make! Play the Pete and Repeat game with your kids (which may backfire), or play it when creating your next batch of cards! I bet I know what you choose. Thank you so much for hanging out with me these last two weeks. I have really had a great time designing with such a fun collection.

TINSEL TIME CARDS & TAGS | with Tya

The holiday season is here, and there is nothing more heartfelt than giving a handmade card or tag to accompany your gifts! Using the cheerful and whimsical Tinsel Time collection, I created a delightful assortment of holiday-themed cards and tags perfect for spreading joy!

Let's get a closer look at them!

I used a wide variety of all of the adorable pattern papers and embellishments to create my cards as well as the Petite Prints that coordinate with this collection! Aren't the colors so lovely? I love adding lots of bling to my cards for interest and the beautiful jewels found on the Holly Mini Jewels shine so pretty here!

My pattern papers came from the 6x6 Paper Pad and were the perfect scale for this fun tag featuring the big man himself! I love addition of the lovely silver to this line!

Ribbon and twine are a favorite of mine so I added some pink tulle to the top of this sweet wreath die cut from the Bits and Pieces. Pretty pops of pink are so stunning on this card!

Do you even make a Doodlebug project if you don't add a Doodle Pop or two? I love this sweet little deer found on the "So Endeering" Doodle Pop. This sweet tag also features a sentiment tag from the Chit Chat die cuts.

I have fallen in love with square-shaped cards as of late and this fun card with all of the cute ornaments from the Odds and Ends was a really fun card to put together. Each ornament is decorated with various Sprinkle Shapes from the collection.

This candy cane from the Odds and Ends makes the perfect focal point for this pretty tag. I mounted a tag from the Bits and Pieces onto a larger tag for some interest and then added my embellishments.

The cut-apart 4x4 cards on the Happy Holly Days pattern paper make for great cards! Take this wintery whimsical scene - so fun then you layer on some snowflake die cuts, and a border sticker from the This and That Sticker Sheet - they sure add a fun touch to this card.

In the Chit Chat die cuts there are the cutest postage stamp die cuts that I added as the sentiment to this tag. This tag is actually my favorite because I love the colors and that stunning floral paper is so gorgeous with this grouping of embellishments. Did I also mention I ADORE the bottle brush trees in this collection - absolutely the cutest!!

My last card features a little Christmas Scene with the fireplace, tree, and presents - classic Christmas colors are represented here and a few more shape sprinkles add festive touches.

So that's the project for today! From the playful icons and festive patterns to vibrant colors and charming embellishments, this collection made it so much fun to craft these little works of art. Whether you are tucking them into a gift bag or paring them with a wrapped present, these handmade creations are sure to bring smiles to your loved ones this season! Have a wonderful holiday season and we will see you next time!

TINSEL TIME HOLIDAY CARDS | with Karen

It's time for tinsel! Bring on the glitter and the sparkle - I am ready for it! And clearly, so is Doodlebug because the new Tinsel Time collection is everything you can imagine it would be and more!

Full-cards-set-1

For my first project, I decided to create some Christmas cards. This season is one of my favourites as a card maker because I feel like I have an excuse to sit down for an afternoon and just make cards! I don't really need an excuse, but it's nice to have one!

Closeup-1

I was particularly drawn towards the shapes in the Bits & Pieces pack so I wanted to feature those on this set of cards. They are wonderful combinations of Christmas themed flowers and evergreens and they are absolutely lovely for layering.

Closeup-2

Oh, and can we talk about the Cards & Envelopes set that coordinates with this collection. It is a wonderful collection of shapes and colours that make creating cards a breeze. And this silver textured envelope is the things that dreams are made of. This picture does not so it justice at all!

Closseup-3

And given that this collection is all about the tinsel, it seemed fitting to embellish with some of the glitter sprinkles that also coordinate. The subtle green and pink sparkles bring all the colours together.

Full-Card-set-2

Well, this may be my first card set of the season but it sure won't be my last. We can't wait to see all the fun Christmas cards that come off of you crafty tables this Christmas season! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

FARMHOUSE HOMESPUN CARDS | with Tya

Step into the charm of country living with my latest handmade cards! Using the adorable Farmhouse collection and the coordinating Cards and Envelopes Kit, I've created six unique cards that capture all the warmth and whimsy of this delightful new collection!

Let's look at each of the cards! This first card is a burst of autumn charm, featuring bright pops of color that Doodlebug is famous for! The centerpiece is the sweet fruit stand from the Odds and Ends, brimming with seasonal delights! The little fox watches over the stand adding more whimsy The card comes to life with dimensional details like the pumpkin and flowers from the Puffy Stickers.

My next card is a delightful nod to country kitchen charm.  The star of the design is the adorable buffalo check apron, from the Odds and Ends, It adds a cozy, homespun vibe. I paired it with the "I only have Pies for You" sentiment from the Chit Chat pack.  Such a sweet card!

My third card is a heartfelt tribute to country living, featuring the irresistible black and white cow from the Odds and Ends die cuts. It's perfect for any cow lover like me out there! The little cow is complimented by a lovely tag showcasing a farm windmill and charming milk can overflowing with vibrant flowers! The "thankful for you" sentiment along the bottom adds a meaningful touch.

My next card is a cheerful birthday card. It is a celebration of color and joy, perfect for making someone's special day even brighter! The standout features on this card are the vibrant pattern papers from the collection - I especially love the Country Quilt plaid paper on the base of the card! The adorable bees from the Busy Bees Doodle Pop steal the show, bringing a delightful buzz of whimsy to the card. A few Puffy Stickers add texture and detail, while the beautiful "Happy Birthday" banner from the Chit Chat set ties everything together.

This next card is a charming snapshot of farm life, brought to life with a delightful scene made from the Odds and Ends ephemera. This design evokes the feeling of a bright, happy day on the farm! The "Hay There" sentiment on the top perfectly complements the farmhouse vibe, adding a playful and welcoming touch. It's a sweet card, full of country charm!

For my final card, I used the slim-shaped card from the Cards and Envelopes kit.  At its heart is the adorable farm truck filled to the brim with cute pumpkins, stealing the spotlight in the design. No farm is complete without some feathered friends, so the cheerful chickens from the Icon Sticker sheet join the scene. The heartfelt "Life is better on the Farm" sentiment couldn't be more fitting, making this card an ode to country living!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope these projects have sparked your creativity and inspired you to pick up the Farmhouse collection to craft your own sweet and homespun cards. There's nothing quite like sharing a bit of farmhouse charm with the special people in your life, so let's keep spreading those warm, country vibes one handmade card at a time! Happy Crafting!

FARMHOUSE THANK YOU CARDS | with Karen

Last week, I got to share my love of card making and my love of all things Doodlebug with my colleagues at work. I grabbed Doodlebug goodies and hosted a morning of gratitude card creation in this beautiful retreat centre that was once a convent. It was everything you might imagine - quiet and peaceful and comforting. And Doodlebug's new Farmhouse collection was the perfect collection to use!

All-3-1

It is no secret that I love bright and bold colours. Hand me a stack of jewel toned paper and I am crafty heaven. But this collection speaks to me in a different way - the colours are like a breath of fresh air and I absolutely love it. In fact, I think I need to redecorate my home to match it!

But for now, I settled for making this set of cards with my colleagues - using combination of the 12x12 papers with the 6x6 papers to mix and match some of the patterned paper at different scales.

  Closeup-1

The Bits and Pieces and Odds and Ends die cuts make the perfect layering pieces to coordinate with the sentiments that I chose. A few mini jewels added a bit of sparkle.

Closeup-2

And the chicken? Well the chicken was the icon I chose that made me think of one of my daughters - the inspiration for one of the the three gratitude cards. Does a chicken make sense on a thank-you card? I'm not sure. But somehow, I am also certain that it does! And the Hen & Chicks paper may now be one of my favourite Doodlebug prints ever!

All-3-2

Sharing this collection and all the goodies with my colleagues brought me so much joy. Watching them create and seeing the pride in their faces as they shared the special people they were creating for was wonderful - husbands for wives, a mom in another province, a son...it was joyful. Crafting is special and this collection makes is easy and beautiful. Thank-you Doodlebug for sharing your gift with us so we can share it with others! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HEY PUMPKIN KITTY BOX CARDS | with Kathy

My favorite icon in the Hey Pumpkin Collection is of course the adorable black cat!  He looks just like my boy Jax!  So, when I saw the adorable Hey Pumpkin SVG files, I decided to create a couple of box cards featuring that sweet kitty!  Take a peek...

I started with the Hey Pumpkin October Garden Kitty 2 SVG.  The little kitty popping up from behind the pumpkin made me smile!  I cut the pieces from the Hey Pumpkin Coordinating Textured Cardstock and added some Bits & Pieces and Puffy Icons for the florals.  I love that the coordinating cardstock packs have the perfect colors!

I added the hello speech bubble from the Chit Chat pieces using a piece of heavyweight acetate so it looks like it's floating.

My next card features the Hey Pumpkin Pumpkin Kitty SVG.  The little fella in the pumpkin candy pail was too cute to resist!

I added some candy pieces from the Odds & Ends Pack and candy corn from the Puffy Icons.  The sentiment speech bubble is from the Chit Chat pieces.

I created a tutorial a few years ago showing how I convert flat cut files to 3D cards.  You can find that here on the Doodlebug blog. It will give you a general idea on how to create your own box cards featuring Doodlebug's cut files!  That's it for me today, I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!

HEY PUMPKIN DOODLE POP CARDS | with Karen

Today, as I was looking through my new Doodlebug Hello Pumpkin collection for some inspiration, I came across the Doodle Pops! And boy, oh boy, are they a treat (pun not intended). So, I decided I would feature 3 of my favourites on this set of cards - because after all, Halloween is all about the treats!

All-three-1

So I grabbed a set of card bases from the Cards & Envelopes set that coordinates with the collection and got to work - layering paper with some die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack and a couple of sentiments from the Chit Chat pack.

Cat-closeup

The glorious part about the Doodle Pops, besides the adorable shapes and characters, is the tremendous dimension these cute stickers bring to any project. Layer upon layer of goodness really does pop on any project you add them to. For this card, I also added some foam adhesive to the die cuts I used around the Doodle Pop just to make sure that they blended in on the design of the card.

Cupcake-closeup

On this card design, the Doodle Pop was perfect for the center of the card - a cut out that looks a bit like a frame.

ghost-closeup

And for this cutie - well I wanted the whole focus to be on him and his adorable, shiny glasses so I added him right to the top layer. Because let's be real - he steals the show anyway!

All-three-2

I love this collection. I mean, I really love it. In fact, I love it so much that I am so sad that this is the last project I get to feature here with it. The good news is that many of the team members have more to share with you over the next couple of weeks so if you are anything like me, stay tuned for so much more fun with Hello Pumpkin!

And since I won't chat with you before Halloween - have a wonderful one in any way that you chose to celebrate! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,
