Collectible Pin Challenge: Matchbox Drawer Card Gifts with Melinda

Have you ever needed to find a small gift for someone in a hurry or had a child that wanted to take something special to school for a friend's birthday? I've been caught out before and ended up spending far more than absolutely necessary because I couldn't find something that would suit. So, I decided to make a stash of super sweet little gifts to have on hand for when that occasion arose. Introducing the Matchbox Drawer Card containing a limited edition Collectible Pin and a Storybook Keychain Album.

Each decorated matchbox has a built in card under the cover flap and contains the corresponding Collectible Pin along with a colour matching Storybook Key Chain. It couldn't get much simpler than that!

I purchased this sweet cut file from the 3D section of Lori Whitlock's store and followed her process video which gave clear instructions on making the wee box.

The little monkey and panda make up part of the menagerie from the all new 'At The Zoo' range.

And I couldn't resist using the viking and tiny dragon from the 'Dragon Tails' collection. Seriously that wee viking with the orange beard is my all-time favourite.

Now I know I wanted to have a stockpile put away for safekeeping but my youngest son has already put his name on the little grasshopper and we have filled the storybook keychain album with family photos, contact numbers and a gold coin for buying a treat. The keychain is now proudly on display whilst hanging from his schoolbag.

And as for the darling unicorn from the new 'Fairy Tales' collection and the pink keychain... well, they now belong to me.

Collectible Pin Challenge: Rainbow Ribbon Wall Hanging with Courtney

Hello doodlebug lovers!!!! Have you seen their ADORABLE collectible pins!?!? We cannot get enough of them on the DT and have been showcasing how to show them off, add them to gifts and so much more! Be sure to check out the rest of the DT's ideas! They have been brilliant and sooooooo inspiring!

Courtney Lee from Court's Crafts here and mine was inspired by the doodlebug rainbow. Is there anything more scrumptious than a rainbow of color inspiration!?

I have ribbon problems (as you will see next week... shhh... you may or not be seeing my craft room....) and I just knew I wanted to showcase my fabulous pins off by putting them on a rainbow!

So I went to work sewing the ribbons side by side using some fun threads and decorative stitches. I LOVE the result. Then I trimmed top and bottom and sewed the ends down for a clean edge.

Now I went out and grabbed some white birch sticks from the tree in my yard (it was time to prune anyway, right?!) and put those on top and bottom. I sewed a wide loop on top and a tighter loop on bottom. I attached a ribbon to both ends to hang it and then just put all my pins in their "proper" color spots or a spot which had some of that color on it.

It was actually a very simple project once I decided on it and it looks fabulous on my craft room wall... now the only problem is my girls want it in their room. No way babes! ;)

I hope this gives you some inspiration today and that you go make something beautiful to display your doodlebug enamel pins on!!! ;)

Collectible Pin Challenge: Frames with Kathy

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with my Collectible Pin display project!  I will admit, I have ALL THE DOODLEBUG PINS!!!!  They are just so cute I couldn't resist!  The problem for me was that they were sitting on my craft table just waiting for me to do something with them, so this project was perfect for me!  I'm, not really a collector, (other than craft supplies lol) so I headed over to Pinterest to look for pin display ideas.  I came upon this foam core board frame display idea here, and decided to give it a try!  Take a peek...

These were actually pretty easy to assemble.  I started by cutting frame shapes out using my Silhouette.  Next I traced each frame shape twice onto foam core board, and cut them out using an exacto knife.

Next, for each frame, I cut a piece of plastic canvas mesh (the kind you use for embroidery) to be just larger than the opening of the frame.

To assemble the frame, I glued the plastic mesh between the two foam core frames.  Using my Silhouette I cut the frame shapes from some Gingham Linen Petite Prints papers to cover the front of each frame.  I added some flowers from the Spring Things Odds & Ends and some older Doodlebug Ribbon I had in my stash to hang each frame.  Here are some close-ups of each frame...

And here they are hanging on the wall of my craft room!

That's it for me today!  I'll be back next week with a tour of my craft room!  Thanks for stopping by to peek!

Collectible Pin Challenge: Home Decor Frame by Anita Bownds

Hi there,
Anita here with you today sharing my collectable pin decor frame
I just love decorating old frames that I find at the second hand shop
I absolutely love shabby chic look and paper clay and what better way to decorate a cute little frame.
And because I like decor I thought I would make these cute flowers too
i use a old Pringles container and paper straws.

I started with a 4x6 frame I took it all apart
I cut a bit of cardboard and a bit of cork sheet and cut it to size to fit in the frame

I painted the frame with gesso then added some paper clay moulded corners already dry and
Glued them down with the gesso. Then drying with a heat gun to speed up the drying time
Then I painted a layer on modelling paste on the frame and left it to dry
And paint the cork with a white paint

Then glue down the cork to the cardboard
Then mix some pink and white paint creating a light pink and paint the corners with a light coat

Punt the cardboard covered cork into the back of the frame and pop the pins in

And to finish the frame off I added flowers made from the Swiss dots rainbow petitieprints
And leaves from gingham-linen rainbow petite prints and a few cupcake glitter sprinkles

Product used
5449 swiss dot rainbow petitie prints pad
4533 cupcake glitter sprinkles
5447 gingham-linen rainbow petite prints
4682 hello sunshine mini flowers

Collectible Pin Challenge: Gift Giving Idea with Brigit Mann

Hello Doodlebug Fans, it's Brigit here to share a fun project using the Collectible Pins and some Doodlebug cut files.  So many people love to collect pins and I thought this project would make such a unique way to give one as a gift to somebody special.

These treat bags were so simple to make and they didn't take much time at all.  I took some of the cut files from the Silhouette Design Store and laid out my design in Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, you can also get the svg cut files from Lori Whitlock's shop to use with Cricut Design Space, Brother Canvas or any other software that accept svgs.  I then did a mirror image and printed the designs out on some Fabric Inkjet Transfer Paper.  I followed the directions and ironed them onto some muslin bags.  I replaced the string on the bags with some Doodlebug Chunky Twine and added the tags.

This Cup O' Jo pin along with a bag full of beans makes this the perfect gift for that coffee lover!  Cut files and tag are from the Cream & Sugar collection.

Hopper the grasshopper is the cutest pin, I knew I wanted him hopping through some flowers.  Everything except for the grass is from the Spring Things collection.

I hope you've enjoyed these projects, thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Collectible Pin Challenge: Message Board by Caroli Schulz

Hello everyone, how are you? Caroli here today and I would like to share with you another use for the gorgeous collectable pins by Doodlebug Design.

Although my favorite place to use DD pins are my clothes, specially my denim jacket, I also came up with this idea for displaying them when I am not wearing them myself.

My little girl just started third grade and we are still adjusting our times and routines to school again, so a bulletin board seemed a great idea to help her organizing her duties and tasks. I decided to decorate Doodlebug Design style, using beautiful Spring Things collection.

On the left side of the board there's this white board surface that included days of the week and a little space for her to write any task, homework she might need to do. Also, on the right side of this whiteboard there's a little space I used to write lists of things to be done.
As you can see, I decorated this in a very simply way, since the important thing will be the information that will be contained on this board. Anyway, I managed to keep it clean and cute!

I cut the words "this week" using my silhouette Cameo and font Learning Curve. Also, I used some alphas for the list place.

On the right side of the board there's this cork space where she can pin pictures and anything she might need or want to have there. In this part of the board I used my collectible pins as for pinning and also for display, they look so cute, don't you think?

Here I also cut the word "let's" and completed the phrase with some stickers alpha in teal color. I decorated some more as well, and of course the grasshopper pin makes the perfect ensemble.

I hope you liked this idea, I can tell you it's been a great help organizing her time and mine: we can write her school tasks and even some home chores, not to mention how cute this looks on her wall.

If you happen to make something similar label me on Instagram -I'm @papelisima- or leave a comment with your link here, I'd love to see what you created.

Have a fabulous day!

Collectible Pin Challenge: Colorful Display Board by Jennifer Beason

Hello, Doodlebug fans.  Jennifer here with a fun way to display your Doodlebug collectible pins and brighten up your space at the same time.  Since my daughter has taken over my collection of pins, this project is for her.   She already has her eye on the unicorn pin from the new Fairy Tales collection, and at this rate, I may end up having to make another one of these pretty soon. But that's okay, it was super easy to create.
I used a Maya Road shadow box that I had on hand, but anything similar will do.  A piece of foam was glued to the bottom of the box, then a layer of thin cork was glued to the foam.  The sides of the box were covered with patterned paper and a raised scalloped border was added to the inside edges. (Note: To achieve this a thin foam border was attached to the cork first then the scalloped border was applied).
Polaroid prints from the Berry Blossoms sheet were mounted onto foam and cut out with a sharp crafting knife. The polaroids were spaced out then glued into the shadow box.
Now you can add your pins, they should stay in place once you push them firmly into place. If not just add a tiny drop of glue to the stem.
Since these are collectibles, I thought it would be nice to have the name of each pin and their number noted on the project. I don't like my handwriting so I printed them out on my computer,  the font is called "Bromello".
I left a few of the polaroids blank so my daughter can add more pins later and a few of the polaroids were embellished.
If you have a cool way to display your Doodlebug pins, please share it with us,  we'd love to see!! :)   Jennifer.

Collectible Pin Challenge: String Envelopes by Wendy Sue

Hi Doodlebug friends, it's Wendy Sue here today!!  Are you loving all of the fun collectible pin ideas from my fellow design team members?  I sure am! I decided to use my pins to make a gift or card a little bit extra special - these pins were used as part of the "string closure" systems on envelopes and gift boxes!  Simply replace one of the brads with a cute pin.  But be sure to tell the recipient that the pin is part of the gift - and totally removable!!

The two smaller items are gift boxes and the taller piece in the middle is an envelope!  The container is slightly different, but the collectible pin closure system is the same!  Here's a closer look at each piece:

The grasshopper pin made the perfect addition to this sweet little polkadot envelope:

And who could resist this coffee cup pin?  not me!!!

And finally, this little chick is just perfect for a little gift box!

Be sure to check every day through the next week for even MORE fun ways to use these adorable pins!
