NSD 2020 - THE CUTEST POP TARTS EVER | with Jennifer

Hello, Doodlebug fans. Just "popping" in to share this fun new project for International Scrapbook Day 2020.  For this piece, I used the adorable pastry and toaster file from the So Punny collection, and I love how it turned out.

For the front and sides of the toaster, I used a combination of prints from the Love Notes collection. The floral print is quite busy, so to help the face standout, a white shape outlined with some chunky twine was applied, then the eyes, mouth, and cheeks were added.

Don't these pop-tarts look yummy? I used cardstock to create them, then mounted them to foam board. A scalloped border was glued around the sides of each pop-tart to finish them off.

A toaster is useless without a plug. So I decided to add one. Two strands of chunky twine glued together created the cord. Layers of chipboard make up the plug.
Thanks for joining me today and have fun scrapping on NSD 2020

LOVE NOTES LAYOUT + NEW CUT FILE | with Erica

Hey friends! Erica here today to share a new layout using the beautiful Love Notes collection and a new cut file! The 'You Make My Heart Sing' cut file plus a few others are now available in the Lori Whitlock shop! I just love using big title cut files like this on my layouts. It is a great way to showcase the beautiful pattern papers. When using cut files I like to back them with the 6x6 paper pads. I like that the images are scaled down and you can see them nicely behind the cut file. This cut file has a nice sized heart that is perfect to add your photo behind!

I trimmed a piece of white textured cardstock to 11.5x11.5 and distressed the edges with my scissors. I matted the white cardstock on the pretty Lovers Lane 12x12 paper. I added foam squares to the back of my cut file and placed it around the center of the layout. Popping the cut file up like this makes it easy to tuck in embellishments around the file.
I used the mini icon stickers and the icon stickers to embellishment my layout. I also used one of the banners in the chit chat pack. For some finishing touches I like to add some enamel sprinkles! Here is a look at my completed layout. I love how the title really stands out on this layout. Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope this inspires you to create a layout with a large title cut file.

CHRISTMAS MAGIC LAYOUT | with Erica

Are you loving all the Christmas Magic inspiration from the design team? So many awesome projects from cards, layouts and home decor! The possibilities are endless with this collection! Today I want to share a 12x12 layout with you using one of the new Doodlebug Design cut files that will be available very soon! I love big title cut files that can be easily backed with pattern paper.
I love the big impact it makes on a page and that you can get so many pattern papers and colors on one layout. I also struggle with coming up with titles for my layouts so using these title cut files really helps me out!
I started out with a white background and also cut my cut file out on some white cardstock. I backed the file with papers from the Christmas Magic 6x6 paper pad. The 6x6 paper pads are perfect for backing the cut files. The prints are on a smaller scale so they are perfect for backing cut files! I always pop up my cut files from the background so that I can tuck in odds & ends and stickers behind the cut file. Using a mix of different embellishments on the layout gives the layout texture and interest. I love that Doodlebug offers a wide range of embellishments! I printed my photo out in black and white. I love that this cut file provides the perfect opening at the top to add a photo! I am documenting my creative holiday weekend I hosted a couple of weeks ago! We had a fun holiday photo backdrop and we took a lot of silly photos! The Christmas Magic collection was perfect to document this photo! Here is a look at my competed layout using the Christmas Magic collection!
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I❤️TRAVEL LAYOUT | with Erica

I hope you are all enjoying the new I❤️heart travel collection as much as I am. The colors and icons are perfect and I am loving the little hot air balloon!
I wanted to create a layout using a new Doodlebug Cut File - Hot Air Balloon Ride,  that has 3 super cute balloons!
I backed the cut file with papers from the I❤️travel 6x6 paper pad. I love that the prints are smaller and work really well when using cut files. I popped the cut file up on some foam adhesive and stuck it to my white background. This collection has cloud stickers and die cuts so I placed some around my layout popped up with foam adhesive.
I pulled out the memories die cut from the I❤️travel chit chat pack. I think it is the prefect title for my layout! The photo I am documenting has nothing to do with hot air balloons but that is ok! I absolutely think you can use hot air balloons on a layout whenever you want! The photo is about travel and a girls trip so I think it goes well and fits what I have going on. And as long as I like it and it makes me happy then that is all that matters am I right!
I pulled out the I❤️travel icons cardstock stickers and used the cute little geotags around my layout. I popped them up on foam to give them a little dimension. Of coarse I had to use the super sweet camera sticker as well! Just look at that adorable face on the lens!
Here is a look at my completed layout! I hope you are inspired to create a layout with some new cut files or anything with a hot air balloon! I would love to see what you create.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Petite Prints Christmas Ornaments Tutorial | with Jennifer

Hello Doodlebug friends. I know it seems like a long way off, but before you know it Christmas will have sneaked up on us!!! I've always thought it would be fun to trim a tree in DB ornaments. So today I will be sharing how I made this set of fun penguins.
The ornaments were made using a penguin cutting file, twine, some felt, wire, Doodlebug Petite Prints patterned papers and cardstock.
  1.  Using your digital cutter, begin by cutting the base of the penguin out of chipboard or cardstock. Use this as your stencil to trace the outline onto 1/8" thick wood. Cut the penguin out using a scroll saw. Sand the edges and drill a small hole to add string later.
  2. Using the colors want, cut out the body, feet, tummy, head, beak and small circles for the cheeks. Glue the body and feet to the wood base.  Paint the sides of the wood.
  3. Stitch around the penguin's head using some embroidery floss.
  4. Glue the head in place, then glue on the beak and cheeks.
  5. Next stitch around the tummy and glue in place. Use a sealer like mod podge to protect each ornament. Allow to dry.
  6. Next, cut strips of felt to create scarfs for each penguin. Tie them in place. Use some thin wire and pom poms to make the ear muffs. (I used twine to make my pom poms, but you can use pre-made ones) Use hot glue to secure in place. Add some twine for hanging on tree.
Here are a few more pictures of them all finished.
Remember with so many cute Doodlebug cutting files, the theme possibilities are endless.
    Have fun!

Doodlebug Design Cut File Tutorial by Brigit Mann

Hello Doodlebug Fans, it's Brigit here with a quick and easy Silhouette Studio tutorial on how I made these sweet candy kiss boxes using the Cream & Sugar candy cut file. You can get Doodlebug cut files in svg format from Lori Whitlock's shop here and from the Silhouette Online Store here.

I kept them pretty simple just adding some ladybug, bubblegum and swimming pool chunky twine to hold the tops together and Christmas glitter sprinkles for the cheeks.

I only needed one candy from the file to make the box so I deleted the other two, but kept all three of the labels since I was making three boxes. I sized the height of the box to 4" leaving the aspect ratio locked.

I rotated the candy to straighten it then used the knife tool and sliced across the bottom. I made a duplicate of the candy and black layer and set aside.

I created a 2" x 6 1/2" rectangle and aligned it on the grid, centering the candy. I drew two lines at the 1/2" mark from top and bottom of the rectangle. I selected the candy and made a mirror image down and moved that with my arrow keys aligning the bottom of each candy with the lines I just made.

Double clicking on the rectangle brings up the point editing, I clicked and made two points close to the side of both candies. I dragged the point closest to the candy down to the bottom corner of it and the other point I move slightly over. You can see in the photo above.

I continued to point edit the other side and then added two vertical lines, I changed all the lines I made to score lines and grouped them together.

Selecting the two candies and rectangle box I welded them all together, then grouped the box and score lines.

You can either put the black layer for the eyes and mouth inside or you can do a release compound path on the box and get rid of the eyes and mouth and use the duplicate layer for the top. That's what I did so I could use 6 x 6 pieces from the Cream & Sugar paper pad.

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Milk & Cookies Collection: Cut File Cuteness by Brigit Mann

Hello Doodlebug Fans, it's Brigit here sharing a Christmas project using the new Milk and Cookies. I love all of Doodlebug's collections, each and every one are absolutely adorable, but I always look forward to their Christmas one and this is fantastic!!

The hardest thing about making Doodlebug projects is picking out what I'm going to use, everything is just so darn cute. I figured with all the sweets in this collection I had to make a gingerbread house and then I thought a pantry card would go with it perfectly to make a nice gift set.

For the card I used the armoire shaped card from Lori Whitlock's shop, I altered it a little so my stickers would fit in each cutout and I didn't want the doors to open.  I used Doodlebug's 6 x 6 pad for the patterned paper on the doors and the striped back panel, the candy christmas paper is from the 12 x 12 paper pack .  All the stickers are from the milk & cookies icon sheet and the this & that sticker sheet. I used a piece of ladybug chunky twine at the top and holly berries shaped sprinkles for the knobs.

I had so much fun making this house, I used another cut file from Lori Whitlock's shop, the gingerbread house, I altered this one also, I wanted the dear santa brick paper on the walls all to go the same direction, so a little rearranging fixed that.  For the trim and roof, I used the santa sweet paper and then embellished the house with icon stickers, sweet spruce and jolly gingerbread doodlepops, some sugarplumchristmas glitter and candy cane sprinkles. I used some liquid applique and glitter around the door, windows, and chimney.

Here's a top view of the house, the chimney didn't come with it, I made it so the adorable santa chimney sticker would fit nicely, I also added the snowy top layer.

The house can be used as a luminary, I put vellum in all the windows and added two battery lights inside.

I hope you've enjoyed this gift set, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

    Hi there, Doodlebug peeps..
Anita here sharing a layout using the fun Dragon tails cut files
So who says blue is just for boys.. so I've used lots of blues and greens on this layout

I started with the cutfile doodlebug dragon with party hat
After cutting him out I decided on a placement and border around my layout
using the patterned paper dragon dots and machine stitched around the edge

For my title I used the die cuts from the odds and ends

I placed the dragon on the left side of my layout
and I wanted him to be big enough to be the main focus of the layout
and just above him a add some music notes

Just under his arm I tucked my photo that I matted on sea serpent stripes patterned paper
And I added a few phrase stickers on the photo

I added some balloons from the odds and ends pack
And machine stitched the balloon strings and added a little bow using the blue jean twine

I add this cute little dragon from the odds and ends pack
with a little party hat that I used pop dots to pop it up

And to finish of the layout I added the little dots and stars from the shape sprinkles

    Product used
5609 dragon tails this and that cardstock stickers
    5645 sea serpent stripes
    3207 blue jean twine
    5651 dragon dots

    5552 balloons shape sprinkles

and a fun way to use those cute dragon cutfiles
