Tuesday Tutorial: DIY Paper Doily Flower by Amanda

I love flowers, especially on Valentine's Day.  As I was sorting through the new Sweetheart collection I took out some doilies and started playing around.  I cut and scrunched and spiraled them in all directions.  Before I knew it, I had flowers coming together.

A bunch of paper flowers in a coordinating container makes for a lovely presentation.  Give a bouquet as a gift or set one out as a decoration.

I made a total of 10 flowers for this bouquet.  I alternated four pink and four white flowers around the edge of the bouquet and placed the remaining two pink flowers in the center.  I used a piece of floral foam in the container to keep the flowers in place.

The "vase" is simply an upcycled frosting container wrapped with patterned paper.  I added only a couple of stickers to keep the focus on the words on the patterned paper.

Make your bouquet extra fancy by adding pearl quilters pins to the center of each flower.

These paper flowers are super easy to make.  My 7 y.o. daughter even made one of the white flowers for the bouquet.  I would have had her make more, but she got bored and wanted to go play LEGOs.

For each flower you will need 4 doilies, 1 Pixie straw, and a couple of Glue Dots or other dry adhesive.
  • Gather each doily in the center and scrunch it together, bringing the end to a tight point.
  • Affix a couple of glue dots to the top of the Pixie and adhere the doilies to the top.
  • Wrap the bottom of the flower with washi tape.

These flowers were seriously SO easy to make!  For more ideas on how to use paper crafted flowers, head over to my blog

Have a happy day!
