DRAGON TAILS MINI ALBUM | with Tya

Dragon Tails -  what an ADORABLE collection! After working on my last mini album which used the Fairy Tales collection, I knew that I had to make another mini with the Dragon Tails papers too! I loved this album! It is made from chipboard and paper and it measures 6 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches with a 2-inch spine. Plenty of room for some flips and flaps and pull out photo mats to add photos of a party!

Each of the pages is constructed the same. They have a base page, then a flap that holds a 4x4 inch card like below:

The flap lifts up and reveals the base page and the back of the flap is decorated. You could also place a picture or journaling on the flap instead.
The pages are made so that you have a pocket that you can place a pull out that will hold a 4x6 inch photo. I used a tab punch on the edge so you can easily access the pocket.
The back side of the page is just made with simple papers and embellishments. you can add another small pocket at the bottom to hold pictures or tags if desired.
This is just the other side of the pull out pocket. I backed it with some Tangerine Gingham Linen Petite Prints.

I followed this tutorial to create this album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4lho5hJwng

You will need to watch the album walkthrough and then she shows you how to construct the album at the end. Just be aware that her album used 3x4 cards on her flaps so her papers will measure smaller.  I used a 4 1/4 x 4 3/4 inch piece of paper and scored on the 4 3/4 inch side at .5 inches to create the flap to hold the 4x4 inch cut apart.
Here is the walkthrough video of my completed album:
Please let me know if you have any questions. This album came together in an afternoon and it would be a great little way to record some memories of your favorite birthday boy! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Crafting!

COMBINING COLLECTIONS WITH UNEXPECTED RESULTS | with Brigit

The hats off collection along with the pocket card from the dragon tails really came in handy for a bunch of gift card holders I had to make for an upcoming party. These definitely were a super easy and fun project to put together.

I adjusted the size of the pocket card and added two notches on the inside card to hold the gift card securely.

I added the bookworm to the congrats ribbon and print and cut the fronts out, this made it quick and easy to then assemble the pieces together.

Adding the crushed velvet belly band with some chunky twine dressed up these gift card holders. I used pop dots to adhere the ribbon to the pocket which holds down the flap along with the graduation clip.

VIKING PARTY CENTREPIECE | with Jennifer

Hello Doodlebug friends. Today I'm sharing a project that was a lot of fun to create. It features a mixture of Petite Prints, the Dragon Tails collection, a Doodle Cut, and even a little stamping.
This party centerpiece was made using Doodlebug's Viking cutting file, some foam board, and chipboard.  Below you can see how he was put together.
  1. Using the Viking cutting file, a chipboard pattern was cut using my Silhouette. The pattern pieces were glued onto some foam board and then cut out by hand. The body and head were then covered with patterned paper and cardstock. Some handstitched detail was added to the mustache and beard. After gluing the pieces together, I covered the sides and back of the Viking with cardstock and patterned paper.
  2. A boot pattern was drawn out onto some thin chipboard, they were then glued to 1" thick foam board and cut out.
  3. After covering the boots with some patterned paper, some twine/ribbon was wrapped around the ankle section of the boot. 1/2" dowels were used for the Viking's legs.
  4. For the title, I used one of the planets from the "Far Out" stamp set to make the wood disc shape in the center of each piece. Each disc was then embellished with die-cuts, alpha stickers, and sprinkles. Thin wire was used to hold all the pieces together. The title was then hot glued onto the front of the boots.
For the faux leather detail, the band-aid die from the "Pill Better" set worked perfectly.
For the shield, I used the same stamp as before. I stamped around the outer edges and in the center with some dark brown ink.
Here's a better look at the title and stamped details. The piece will stand without a base, but I decided to add a oval wood one, just to make it more stable. Thanks so much for joining me today. Happy crafting everyone! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CYNTHEA | Birthday Card No.6 from Curt

Happy Birthday, Cynthea! I hope you have a ROARING good time!!!

This card has a little inside joke associated with it. Here's a little backstory to clue you in:

I'm always bursting out into song! My random musical outbursts are always brought on by something someone has said or done. When I started working in-house at Doodlebug, I couldn't resist singing the theme song to the kid's TV series, Dragon Tales when I saw Doodlebug's Dragon Tails collection. I sing this song to Cynthea at least once a month, which she thoroughly "enjoys" since this ear worm gets stuck in her head.

In honor of her birthday, I thought it was fitting to make her a card with our favorite musical paper collection:

Dragon Tails, Dragon Tails!
It's almost time for Dragon Tails.
Come along and take my hand.
Let's all go to Dragon Land!

To make this card, I rolled strips of paper from the Dragon Tails collection with a piece of Doodle Twine in the center. The lettering and flames were cut out of the white paper with my Silhouette. And the yellow pull tab slides back and forth on a track behind the white, allowing Cynthea to "blow out" her candles.

Embellishing Focus | Surprise Explosion Box by Traci

If you are in the mood to play with lots of embellishments, an explosion box is a great project!
This cute box will make such a great gift ... and it's so much fun to make!  Not only is the box itself a unique gift, but you can tuck another small present down inside.
Once you remove the lid, the box folds open to reveal lots of layers and cute embellishments.  I also plan to add photos on some of the blank pages.
For the outside of the box, I added pattern paper and stickers from the adorable Dragon Tails collection.
The Odds & Ends were perfect for these pages ... just the right size!
Is that little dragon clip not the cutest?  He's hanging out on the edge of a treat bag that I cut down and re-glued to fit my small page.
What would a mini album be without a few adorable boutique buttons?
And sprinkles!!  My all-time favorite embellishment ... especially the glitter ones :)
I finished up the box by hanging some mini garland around the lid.   Here is a link to the Explosion Box cutting file I used for the base layers (I cut all of the pattern paper by hand) and a similar cutting file by Lori Whitlock.  Have fun with this project!

Abigail Font Stickers: Irish Beauty layout by Virginia

I am really looking forward to a beautiful Spring season!  I can't think of a better way than to dig through my Doodlebug stash for some bright and cheerful papers to get my Spring scrapbook mojo underway!   I'm loving the bright greens in the Dragon Tails collections and are perfect to scrapbook this darling Irish cutie!

I used the fun Abigail alphabet for my title and underscored them with pieces cut from the long scalloped border from the This and That sticker sheet.

Using pattern papers from the Petite Prints is a great way to add little hints of tone-on-tone green to enhance the lucky Irish theme!

Thanks for stopping by the blog, hope you have wonderful crafty day!

Odds & Ends Challenge: Mini Tag Cards by Wendy Sue

Hi Doodlebug Friends!  It's Wendy Sue Here today, sharing a quick and easy little project that is made even easier with these cute "Odds & Ends" from the "Dragon Tails" collection!

I love giving handmade cards, but sometimes a simple tag will do.  I combined the two with these little folding tags, and the little pieces from the Odds & Ends pack made it super easy!

Here's a look at the process!  Start by cutting a small card into a tag shape.  You can do this with a metal die, a digital cut file, or even by hand!

Now cut the same tag shape from patterned paper.  I used papers from the 6x6 paper pad, and I chose some of the monotone, more subtle patterns.  Place these on the front of the little card.

You'll want to gather some of the small pieces from the Odds & Ends pack.  Add these to the front of the tag/card with foam adhesive dots.

Tie some chunky doodle twine through the top of each card.

And, for an extra little touch, add a small piece to the inside of each tag/card with foam squares.  In this case, I used the small stars:

Here's a quick look at all of the supplies you'll need for this fun project:

And a closer look at all of the tags I whipped up today:

And don't forget an extra little something for the inside:

How will YOU use the Odds & Ends?  Please share your ideas and link us up in the comments!!

Pinterest Inspired Challenge: Father's Day Gifts by Jomelle Gomez

Have you ever tried creating a project inspired by something you saw from Pinterest? Well, this is my first time. I wanted to make something special for my hubby for Father's Day. Every year, I tried to make something unique that involve my kids to give to my husband on Father's Day.

This year I was inspired to create this tie. Pinterest had free printable to make this.

Here is the tie I made. I decided to use the Dragon Tails Collection since the colors are perfect for Father's Day. I added the blue twine so my husband can actually wear this tie if he wants to. That'll be super fun to see.

I cut the 12x12 cardstock into 8x11 to fit into my printer. I  used the free printable to print the ties on the cardstock and I just cut them out. I added another design of cardstock into the back of the tie. I also used a solid color cardstock and added behind the questionnaires to add a border.

I had my 8 year old son fill out the questions. I think it's more special when my husband see that our son wrote these.

I added the Viking and the cloud odds & ends to make the tie more unique. I also used the sprinkles to add dimensions to the tie.

Next I wanted to make this toolbox.

Here's my take on the toolbox. Instead of the red toolbox, I decided to use printed cardstock and I decorated it to make it more fun. Again, I used the Dragon Tails Collection. Instead of the coupon book, I decided to use this tool box as a card.

As you can see here, I used the blue chalk ink for the edges of the cloud, handle and the box.

Here's the inside of the toolbox. This is where I involve my kids. I asked my 2 boys to write something special for their dad. But since boys will be boys, they only wrote "Happy Father's Day" and both of them told me "I don't know what to write mommy"

Then I used the blue chalk ink and apply on my daughter's left hand and she left her hand print since she is unable to write.

Of course, I wrote a little something special for my husband to read.

My daughter's Hand Print is one of the special part of this project. My husband will treasure this gift as long as he can remember. I cannot wait for my kids to give this to my husband on Father's Day. (here's to hoping he will not read this blog post first)

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you were inspired by my project to also make something special for Father's Day. Have a great day!
