BUNNY TRAIN | with Kathy

I've always loved Easter Crafts.  There are so many sweet little images... bunnies, chicks, eggs... they are hard to resist.  Add some Doodlebug icons, colors and embellishments... it's cuteness overload!  I mixed it all together and came up with this fun project... take a peek...

So you're probably asking... "Is it a card, or is it a decor piece?"  The answer is YES!  The project started as a box card, with the bunny riding the train.  I loved how he turned out but then I thought, he needed some friends.

So... I added a couple of train cars with eggs and a chick!  These two parts are also box cards in their own right that are attached with simple little strips that connect the cars.

You can make this strictly as a home decor piece, but you could also make the 3 separate cards, which fold flat, mail them to someone special along with the strips and instructions on how to attach them!  That would be such a fun surprise!

Want to make one to send?? (or keep??)  I created an SVG file for this project.  It's available exclusively in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop here.

Below are some simple assembly instructions....

1)  To assemble the bunny "engine" first cut the pieces.  The sentiment is done as a print and cut.  Add the embellishments to the layers as shown.
2) Attach the train pieces together by gluing one of the small side pieces to the front and back as shown. (on the side with the biggest wheel)
3)  Attach the tab of the bunny insert to the inside of the side piece you just glued, the tab should be flush with the back fold.  Add the other side piece to the remaining tab on the insert.
4)  Attach the tabs of the 2nd side piece to the front and back train pieces.

5)  This will form the engine part of the project.
6)  Next, cut the pieces for the 2 train cars.  Both cars are assembled in the same manner, I am showing the egg car.
7)  Add the embellishments to the pieces as shown.  Fold the "box" into shape, glue with the tab inside.
8)  Add the car sides & wheels to both sides of the box you made in step 7.  Align the top edges and center.
9) Add glue to the tabs on the insert.  Slide into the box, and press the tabs to the sides to hold.  Repeat this general process for the other car
10)  The cards can now all fold flat and can be mailed if you wish.  To attach the cars and engine together, there are 2 small tabs included in the file.  Fold both score lines.  Glue one tab to the engine, and one to the first car to attach.  The strips have a hole in the center if you wish to add a brad, I added a glitter sprinkle enamel dot.  Repeat with the 2nd strip and the 2 cars.  Done!

I hope this card brings a little sunshine to your day!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Hello Doodlebug peps! How's everything? Caroli here, and today I want to show you a super easy and fast tutorial for working with some of the Easter Express exclusive cut files you can find at Silhouette Design Store here.

I love using grid cut files on my scrapbook pages, they make a great background for a layout and allows to use a lot of patterned paper at the same time without looking too cluttered.

In this video I show you how I used this bunny head cut file for creating a simple but cute bunny grid, please take a look:

How you can see, it was super easy and fast. using my grid I created this simple and funny layout.

I used pics of my little ones during last year's Easter, when my baby boy was just one month old. My girl was super excited to have a partner on the Easter hunt but it seems he wasn't as excited as her, LOL!

I hope you liked this idea and start creating your ow exclusive grids, it's fun and pretty and make a great addition to your scrapbooks!

Have a lovely day!!

Calendar Challenge: Snap Chat 'Streak' with Melinda

Until recently I had only heard of Snap Chat via my teenage daughter and never really understood the concept of posting photos that only lasted a few seconds before they were gone... for good. So, after considerable urging from my daughter, I was signed up to this latest form of social media and reluctantly taught the finer points of swapping ridiculous photos which in turn led to a mother-daughter 'Snap Chat Streak'. Putting it in simple terms, a streak is basically something that occurs when you continually correspond with someone on a daily basis.

My main concern with this so called streak was the amount of fun photos we were swapping that never lasted more than a few seconds and that truly annoyed the memory keeper in me. I wanted more, I wanted to be able to have a permanent reminder of our silliness. Something I could hang on the wall and look at every single day.

When the calendar challenge was mentioned as a DT assignment I took a long hard look at the little squares on the Daily Doodle pages. The small spaces became the inspiration for printing out each of the Snap Chat pictures we had in our streak and changing it from a ten second flash of fun to a permanent memory... happy Mum.

I still wanted to decorate the area at the top of the daily doodle as I love playing with pretty bits and pieces to make little scenes. And I honestly can't get enough of the flora and fauna in the latest collections 'Spring Things' and 'Easter Express'.

I used Doodlebug rub-on numbers to keep track of just how long this streak has been going for and hopefully it will continue for some time to come as I honestly love having this memory between my daughter and I... even though some or actually most of the photos are totally ridiculous and embarrasing.

I hope you have been inspired by the design team this past fortnight to use the Daily Doodle Calendar pages in ways you've probably never even imagined. The possibilities are endless.

Hi there!  It's Wendy Sue here with you today and I am so excited to share some of the new "Easter Express" cut file projects I created! I started with the carrot file and created this fun banner:

It was really fun and easy - I just sized the two carrot shapes so I could fit four across a 12x12 paper.  Speaking of paper, I used petite prints for both the carrots and leaves - I love the subtle pattern on these!

After I cut the shapes, I layered them together.

And added machine stitching (with green thread) to each one.

Each one is stitched differently, just for interest.

After adding the stitching, I punched two holes in the top of each carrot.

And then I strung doodle twine through each one to create the garland.

Finally, I added white "chippers!" to each carrot to spell out "Hoppy Easter."  Oh, except for one carrot - there you'll find the cute bunny doodle-pop to separate the words!

And now it's hanging above my fireplace, wishing everyone who enters our home a "Hoppy Easter!"

Now, suppose instead of hanging this cute banner, I wanted to give it away as a gift.  Here's how I'd do it:

Yep, I'd use that cute Mr. Bunny cut file to embellish a gift bag!

I wanted to personalize the bag, so I cut out another carrot, with the name spelled out on the top layer!

Don't forget to decorate the back!

I'd love to see what YOU make with the Easter Express cut files!  Please link up your projects in the comments below!
