HOMETOWN USA DECOR FLAGS | with Niella

Happy June, crafty crew! With Independence Day coming up so fast, it's a good time to prep ahead if you aren't already. So happy to have you visit today to see my super fun project: Decor Flags with Hometown USA! Whether you create these for your crafty projects, food platters, baking or as a topper for your gift hamper; these are fun and easy to create! You can even adapt these ideas for other Doodlebug Design collections as well :-)

For each flag, I've cut a 9" x 2.5" inch strip of white textured cardstock and on top of each, a strip of patterned paper .5" inch less all around,  and machined stitched over the cardstock. This technique gives strength to each flag and helps the eye look towards the patterned papers I feel :-)

I wrapped one edge over a wooden dowel and adhered it with liquid glue or hot glue for faster drying time. These dowels came from my stash with beads on the top. Awesome!

The papers in the Hometown USA collection I've used in my introduction photo are: Top, Polka-dot Pride, All American and bottom, Plaid to be American. Such cute and fitting names, right! So super darling!

Decorating each was so fun! I like to start by laying down the base pieces, then build on them by adding foam squares behind the Odds & Ends ephemera pieces. I also love to add elements on the back side of projects as well. This gives more dimension. That fantastic bunting piece is from the Chit Chat ephemera pack! It suits perfectly!

Don't be afraid to use the icon and mini icons too. I simply added foam on the back of each and glued down, I especially like using the icon stickers because they are smaller and you can fit more on! Plus they always look extra cute!

Those firework flourishes are so well suited to these embellishments! They give that extra detail that this project needed. How sweet do they look behind Lady of Liberty!

BONUS: If you've made it to the end of this blog post, you can watch me showcase these!

Thank you crafty crew for flying by today! I hope I gave you a crafty hit of inspiration! Don't forget to tag us in on your socials - we're looking forward to seeing your next Doodlebug Design project! Until next time; doodle dee!

DOODLEBUG SHAKERS - SHAKER EMBELLISHMENTS | with Jen

I'm sure by now you have all figured out how much I love to make shakers! Whether I'm using them on a card, layout, or mini album I just love the interactive element they add. Today I have three shakers I made using the Doodlebug SVG files available in Lori Whitlock's shop. I used files from three different collections. I have a full recorded tutorial on how to manipulate the files in Cricut Design Space linked below.

First up is a fairly simple shaker using the Rainbow with Clouds from the Fairy Garden Collection. For this shaker I just used the cloud pieces for the shaker and filled them with Lily White Shaker Balls. This is a very basic shaker and not hard to make.

For my second shaker I stepped it up a bit and used the Winter Mountains from the Snow Much Fun Collection. For this shaker I used the main mountains to make to separate shakers and then layered them together to complete the overall shaker. I used the Ice Crystals and Flurry Shakers to fill. This is a very dimensional piece and would be great in a mini album.

And my last shaker I used the Cola image from Hello Again. For this shaker I made mini shakers out of some of the ice cubes inside the larger cola shaker. This one was a little bit trickier with the ice cube shakers inside, and the gap at the top of the cup between the lid and the "cola". The finished product is really fun and would be great as a card or on a layout.

Full video tutorial can be found here.  Thanks for stopping by!

BUNNY HOP SHAKER EASTER TAGS | with Conny

Hey there, crafty friends! You're in for a treat today as I show you how to make these lovely shaker tags using the Bunny Hop Collection and the Bunnies and Chicks Shakers!

I started by cutting out four tags measuring 3"X5" each from the 6"X6" paper pad and also cut out some acetate. After that, I used my sewing machine to stitch them together, but left the top open so that I could add the Bunnies & Chicks and Spring Flowers Shakers inside. It was such a fun and creative way to add a little extra charm! Once the tags were filled, I stitched them closed.
At the bottom of the tags, I added a cute pom pom trim and ribbon to give them a little extra flair. These tags are perfect for adding a little bit of something extra to your springtime crafts, such as handmade cards, journals, or even gift tags.
I used the lovely bunnies from the Bunny & Friends Doodlecutsfor my project. I decorated two bunnies with Mini Icons, Doodle Pops, and Mini Jewels. I also added flowers, eggs, and chickies behind the bunnies to create a cluster and used foam adhesive for dimension. To finish them off, I added a bow at the top with tulle. I'm excited to see your tags using the sprinkles and the Bunny Hop Collection."

BUNNY HOP LARGE TAGS | with Niella

Hippy Hop it's a bunny hop kinda day with these larger adorable tags I created for you today! With Easter fast approaching and everyone getting their goodie baskets ready, why not top of your gift with a Bunny Hop tag! These larger 6 x 3.5 inch tags have more room to decorate, more to love and have that extra pizzazz ready for gift giving!

I started with the 12x12 patterned papers and picked a variety of colors and backgrounds. The carrot paper (carrot patch) is so sweet and the cute peeps style paper (everything Easter)? Yes, please!

I then went ahead and picked contrasting 6x6 inch patterned papers to go onto white cardstock,  then stitched onto the main tag. The white cardstock helps to pop the top paper. Then I decorated each large tag with the gorgeous Odds & Ends, Bits & Pieces and the stickers from This & That sticker sheet. The final touch to the tags is the dotting of the puffy stickers here and there. I'm big into small details, I know y'all are too!

Lastly, I punched holes in the tags and then tied some Doodle Twine onto each! Don't you just LOVE the colors! I've knotted each end which helps with fraying, but I just love this little touch as well!

If you made it all the way to the end of this post: BONUS! Here is a video showcase!

Thank you crafty crew for hopping by today! I hope I gave you a crafty hit of inspiration! Don't forget to tag us in on your socials - we're looking forward to seeing your next Doodlebug Design project! Until next time; doodle doo!

BUNNY HOP EMBELLISHMENTS | with Guest Designer Shara Crane

Hello, its me Shara Crane and I am so happy to be sharing this little embellishment project with you using the new Bunny Hop collection. These can be given as gifts or used on cards, layouts, almost any project.  Follow these steps to create your own mini embellishments.

Step 1.

Cut your scraps into different banner shape sizes. I size them depending on what size my pop stick is. The pop sticks I used for this project are 4in long and the paperclips are 1in. My largest banner piece is 2x3/4in. Each piece you make will be folded in half around the bottom of the paperclip or the stem of the cake pop stick so make sure you keep that in mind. Cut a variety of different lengths and as many as you wish. The paper clips only have one of the 2x3/4 pieces, but the cake pop (page flags) have 3 different sizes.

2. Once you have all your pieces cut fold each on in half on a diagonal. This gives the effect of the banner blowing in the wind. After you make your fold, if you are sewing now is the time to do so. I sew the top of the front part of the banner and the top of the folded “back” of the banner so each part of the paper that is showing has the “top” sewing marks showing.

3. Once you decide where you want to place each piece it’s time to glue them to the cake pop stick (for the paperclip you slide one end through the largest part of the paper clip until the paperclip is touching the fold mark). This is also where you want to add your dimension tape. Make sure you add the tape in a spot that you won’t see it and in between the paper. I usually add it to one side, add my hot glue to the middle of the fold, place the pop stick in the fold where the glue is then close the banner around the stick and onto the dimension tape.

4. As always this is to me the best part. Time to decorate. Use all goodies from the Bunny Hop collection. Decorate as much or as little as you wish. I like lots of layers and different textures so I try to add a little it of everything. One you are done these make PERFECT gifts for your crafty friends or you can use them yourself and add them to any thing you wish to make you smile even more.

I hope you've enjoyed my project today! Xoxoxo,

MADE WITH LOVE DOODLE DOILIES | with Niella

Hi crafty crew! We're flying through February but luckily for us, crafting is all year long! The cute project I've made today is with a classic Doodlebug Design staple; doilies! And what better collection to use them with than Made With Love! Not only are doilies super adorable to showcase your edible projects, they are just as versatile for crafting with! Let's get into them!

There is a beautiful rainbow of colors in the doily collection to choose from! For mine, I've picked Limeade, Bumblebee, Cupcake, Lily White, Mint, Coral and Ladybug. Then I layered several doilies together to strengthen the foundation. Then cut a circle from the matching papers in the Made with Love collection to be adhered as the doily centre piece. Stitch or glue together. Here I've machine stitched them. I just love the dimension and extra texture stitching brings!

Once you've adhered the doily layers and centre piece you can now decorate them! If you know me, you'll already know this is my fave part! Out come the Icon and mini Icon stickers. Decorate with a theme in mind or just grab any Doodlebug collection and go wild. Use foam dots for 3D appeal!

Look at all these delightful faces and the colors go so well together! From the little glass measuring jugs to the kraft grocery bag to the sugar and the tiny recipe card! Hard to decide which is cutest; they all are!

I've made a whole bunch of these to add to my handmade gifts and projects throughout the year. Think pretty packages, scrapbooking pages, cards, album covers, happy mail, bookmarks and gift bags. How sweet would they be on baked goodies to gift...endless!

Thank you so much for visiting, I hope you've had a crafty hit for today! Don't forget to tag us in on your socials - we're looking forward to seeing your next Doodlebug Design project! Until next time; doodle doo!

SNOW MUCH FUN TAGS | with Niella

Hi crafty crew, hope you're warm and snug in your part of the woods! Grab a cozy beverage and let's take a look at my Doodlebug project today which is one of my favorites... tags! I've been having Snow Much Fun with this perfectly named collection - love these colors of blues, greens, purples and greys! Not to mention the sweetest Yeti and his wintery friends.

I always start by flipping through the papers and choosing which papers I'll use for the foundation pieces (never easy as I want to use ALL the patterns!) Then I decide which paper will be the main part of tag...there is always so much fantastic choice!

After I've stitched on the band pieces, I punch holes and adhere a hole reinforcer. This provides the extra security on the tag for where I thread the doodle twine - another fave! You can use the 12x12' papers, but I love using the 6x6 paper pad because the patterns are perfect scale for tags and the like. Super cute!

Next, is my favorite part - decorating!

If you zoom in and look closely, you'll see a loaded tag! In this tag, I've slipped in some tiny tag cut-aparts from the 6x6 paper pad, so dainty and perfect to gift! I also like to be prepared by having a good stash to use or add in a journal or on a scrapbook page! Limitless uses crafty crew!

I love using pop and foam dots to give that dimension and to provide extra texture. Once completed I go over each and add the extra cuteness like sprinkles, ephemera, doodle twine, stickers and well...everything! Heehee :-)

The fun to be had in this collection is amazing - everything goes together so exceptionally well - perfect for all your winter crafting! Thank you so much for visiting today; I hope you've had a crafty hit for today! Don't forget to tag us in on your socials - we're looking forward to seeing your next Doodlebug Design project! Until next time; doodle dee!

SWEET & SPOOKY MEMORYDEX CARDS | with Conny

Hi crafting friends! It's always great to be with you crafters who share a passion for creativity, DIY projects, and spooky season! Today I’m back with the Sweet and Spooky collection! Whether you're into scrapbooking, happy mail, card making, or any other craft, it's wonderful to have a community of like-minded individuals to share ideas and inspiration with. So, what are you currently working on? I'd love to hear about your latest crafting endeavors! Today I am sharing some memorydex cards and some embellishments I created using the Treat Yourself Doodle Cuts.

Let's start with the memorydex Cards!  You can create memorydex cards with a metal die, cut file or if you don't have these,  simply cut card-stock or patterned paper into 4 x 3-inch rectangles and round the corners. You will need two per card.  To turn the cards into pockets, you want to also cut a 3" X 1" piece of paper and score it at 1/2", then attach it to both sides of the card with adhesive and use a memory desk punch.

If you don't have a memorydex punch, you can  use a hole punch and punch two holes at the bottom center of the card leaving a 1 3/4" gap, and with scissors cut a little slim tunnel in the middle of the hole you made.

Now the fun part!  To decorate you can add embellishments from the chit chat, cardstock stickers, sprinkles to the front of the card, and punch a hole in the top center. Slide the card into the memorydex holder for safekeeping. Memorydex cards can be used for various purposes such as recipe cards, journaling prompts, or even as a fun way to organize your to-do list. For the cards I made I already had metal die!

For my fun candy jar embellishments, I used the Treat Yourself Doodle Cuts to create two little shaker jars. I used the 6x6 paper pad and added some icon cardstock stickers. To give them a little extra sparkle, I included a sequin mix and tulle. They turned out really cute and I'm excited to use them in my next project!
Thank you so much for stopping by! We can’t wait to see your Memorydex cards and Jars!

SWEET & SPOOKY HALLOWEEN TAGS | with Niella

Howl are you crafty ghoulfriends! Heehee! We're counting down to October 31st... Sweet & Spooky style! Thank you for popping in to see what we've been up to with this darling collection! For my latest project I had to create some fun TAGS! They are one of my fave projects to make, they remind me of little works of art to give away, to build in your gift giving stash or use on any projects you like!

From the 6x6" paper pad, I have created 7 tags! Each tag measures 2.5" x 4" with a wee corner snipped off on each top corner. Then I went about stitching on contrasting sections of patterned paper over the centre areas; this helps the ephemera to "pop" and standout more. Everything goes together, so no matter what products you choose; it all looks so cute!

In this collection, I'm loving the mixed alpha fonts! How cute is this Spooky word which I've used Abigail, My Type, Alphabet Soup and Skinny. I've mixed these alpha stickers to match the cuteness of the words on the ephemera and washi tape too!

Click each picture and zoom in to see the tiny details! Can you spot the mixed alpha word eeeeeek? Or the wrapped candy embellishments made from the Treat Yourself Doodle Cuts dies? Or how about the fussy cut lollipops and trims from the cute 6x6" paper pad! And how about that fun mini paper chain decoration for the win!

Let the good times roll with your next crafty project using this super cute Halloween collection; there is so much fun to be had with it. Remember to tag us in your Doodlebug Design projects - we love seeing what you've created! Have a great day my ghoul friends, we'll catch you hex time ;-) lol. Doodle boo!
