Quick Mother's Day Gift Magnet

Shellye McDaniel altered a round metal lid to create this fridge magnet for
her mom for Mother's Day!

She used the Flower Box Collection and we love how she upcycled a common household item to create a one-of-a-kind gift for her mom. If you're in need of a quick gift idea then we hope this inspires you to create a gift that means a lot to your mom!

Decoupage Money Box Rabbit Tutorial
By Melinda Spinks

It has been a while since I had a hair-brained scheme so I was quite excited when I purchased this paper mache rabbit recently because I had 'big plans'. You see my daughter had been asking for a money box because she was tired of her Milo tin and it wasn't very pretty. So, as soon as I saw this little guy I knew he was destined to be her 'money bunny' and the Flower Box collection was the perfect choice for his technicolor coat. Who knew it would take me all week to finish?

Now let me just start by saying, this little guy is covered in the entire 6x6 Flower Box paper pad plus a couple of 12 x 12 sheets for good measure. I began with a production line of punched flowers.

This project is definitely not for someone who doesn't like to get 'messy'. I applied each punched flower using Mod Podge and a paint brush, however some of the curved surfaces like the ears, face and feet required a more hands-on approach to get the paper into every nook and cranny.

Once you have finished a section then completely cover it in Mod Podge with a wide flat brush to seal all the pieces.

What money bunny is complete without the coin slot. I simply used my craft blade to cut a small rectangular slot into the head of the bunny. I promise he didn't feel a thing.

Lastly I created a 'money bunny' tag to hang around his neck and finished off with a pretty yellow bow.

Storage Box Organization for Spring

My craft room is always in need of improved storage and organization.  When I saw these bright and colorful prints from Doodlebug's new Flower Box collection, I knew they would make perfect storage boxes.

I used this 3D box file  from Silhouette to die cut my boxes.  I increased the size of the boxes just a bit so they would accommodate my pearl and jewel packs.  Because I increased the size of the boxes, each box required two 12"x12" pieces of paper.  I used the coordinating B sides for the corners and label holder.  Did you notice how I attached each label holder with the appropriate embellishment?

Each box measures approximately 4.5"x5.5"x3.25"--small enough to be cute, but big enough to be functional.  I totally plan on making more of these for my craft room.

Each box has coordinating woodgrain corners.  I LOVE the multi-colored woodgrain prints in Doodlebug's Flower Box collection.    There's a pink woodgrain print, too.

What would you make storage boxes for?

Think Spring with the new Flower Box Collection!!

Spring Embroidery Hoop
by Tamara Tripodi

I love altering embroidery hoops! I picked up this little 6" hoop and just knew the Flower Box collection would make this into a CUTE decor piece! I layered several flowers, added some butterflies on wires, ribbon, buttons, a rosette sun and of course, the adorable raindrops! I love the way it came together!

Fantastic Frames with Flower Box Collection

Welcome Spring Frame
by Shellye McDaniel

For the wooden frame, I used a brown chalk-style ink pad to distress the wood. I found it best to use a sheet of vellum to create a template for the inset of the frame; trace onto desired patterned paper and cut out. For added dimension and interest, I trimmed out the inner edge with a strip of patterned paper followed by a border of Bumblebee Doodle Twine (I use a Fine-Tip Glue Pen for this). I added a row of washi tape and strip of paper to the bottom to mimic a ground full of Spring flowers. For the focal point, I layered two different sizes of doily die-cuts and then embellished with several of the Doodle Pops and cardstock stickers from the Flower Box Collection! A ribbon hanger to the top and it's ready for hanging.
