GREAT OUTDOORS - OUTDOORS LAYOUT | with Traci

Happy Thursday friends!  If you were following along on September 15, you saw a 12x12 page the I created using the adorable Great Outdoors collection.  Since I know how much you like 2 page layouts, I decided to design a companion page to go with that page.

Here's a look back at the first one ...

And here's the second page ...

When I create 2 page layouts, I like for them to flow into one another, so that your eye moves across the pages seamlessly.  To do this, I layered a piece of the Happy Camper paper on the left side of the page, to follow the design on page 1.  The blue plaid (Sleeping Bag) paper is on the right side of the page to tie into the plaid border and trees.

I used the same mat colors on this page, and used the pretty floral print for a cohesive look.

A note about the die cuts I used on both pages:  In my last post I told you I used Odds & Ends from the Great Outdoors.  I did, but when creating this second page, I realized that some of the odds & ends were actually from the Friendly Forest collection AND from the Pumpkin Spice collection.  So sorry for this confusion, but it's one reason I love Doodlebug so much ... all of the collections coordinate so well together!  So have fun mixing and matching!

Here's the link to the post for my first page Great Outdoors Page #1.  And here are the measurements I used in case you want to replicate page 2.  Happy fall, and happy crafting everyone!

Cabin Fever, woodgrain - 12x12
Happy Camper, outdoor scene - 6"x11.5"
Sleeping Bag, blue plaid - 5.5"x11.5"
White card stock - 9."x9.75"
Great Outdoors, green mat - 2.75"x3.75"
My Favorite Flannel, orange mat - 2.75"x3.75"
Bits of nature, yellow mat - 2.75"x3.75"
Wild Flowers, yellow floral - 4" x 5"

GREAT OUTDOORS PILLOW BOX TREATS | with Karen

There is something about the fall that always make me crave little treats. Give me a bag of the chewy little caramels this time of year and I am happy girl! Perhaps it is a comfort craving brought on by flannel and cooler weather, or perhaps it is just me craving sugar to get through the first few weeks of back to school Whatever the case is, I love little fall treats!

All-3-1

So it only made sense to create some little pillow boxes to hold my fall treats. Truth be told, I made these to hold little fall treats for other people - but they give me a great excuse to sneak some! The Great Outdoors is a perfect collection for this time of the year. Cozy colours and cute designs that make me think of curling up beside a fire watching the kids make smores! I teamed them up the 12x12 patterned paper with some Petite Prints and a mini doily for the bases and then went to town embellishing!

Closeup-1

The Great Outdoors Odds and Ends dies cuts make the perfect feature for the pillow boxes. Not only are there so many shapes and characters to choose from, they really are the perfect size for pillow boxes. I used some of the cute insects for this set, but if you are a camper or have friends who are - this set will have you making treat containers for everyone at the RV park!

Closeup-2

To finish it all off, I added some glitter Sprinkles, some Doodle twine and a little message from the Chit Chat die cuts. All of the piece are attached with some foam adhesive to give each a bit more dimension.

All-3-2

I really love how these turned out. They remind me of all the fun things about summer with all the coziness of fall! Okay, now bring on the caramels! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

GREAT OUTDOORS SMORE FUN LAYOUT | with Erica

Hello friends! Erica here with you today to share a fun 12x12 scrapbook layout using the Great Outdoors collection. One of our favorite things to do when the weather starts to cool down is have a fire out back and make smores! The kids absolutely love them and the Great Outdoors collection has the perfect pieces to document the memories!

I started with the Smore Fun cut file and backed it with papers from the Great Outdoors 6x6 paper pad! I used the Lily White Petite Prints dot-stripe as my background and matted it onto two different pattern papers from the Great Outdoors collection.

I used some Catherine Pooler Designs Ink in the color Sand Castle to add a little ink blending to the background and some splatters! I also used some around the marshmallows in the cut file!

The adorable S'more Fun shaker pop had to go on this layout! I placed it down towards the bottom of my layout and added a few marshmallow sprinkles!

I embellished around the page using the Great Outdoors icon stickers, mini icon stickers and odds & ends!

I had so much fun putting this layout together and using the super cute marshmallows in this collection! Here is a look a my completed layout!

Thanks so much for stopping by the Doodlebug Blog today! I hope you enjoyed my layout!

GREAT OUTDOORS HAPPY CAMPER LAYOUT | with Traci

Hey guys! With summer coming to an end and fall just around the corner, I'm super excited about the change in seasons. So, I decided to create an autumn inspired 12x12 layout with the super cute Great Outdoors Collection. It's perfect for photos of the leaves changing colors, hiking, camping, and fun outdoor adventures!

For the base, I chose the cinnamon colored woodgrain paper. Then, I just layered lots of great prints from the collection one on top of another. Here are the measurements in case you want to replicate it ...
  • Cabin Fever, woodgrain - 12x12
  • Happy Camper, outdoor scene - 11.5"x11.5"
  • Sleeping Bag, blue plaid - 10"x10"
  • White card stock - 9.5"x9.5"
  • Great Outdoors, green mat - 4"x4"
  • My Favorite Flannel, orange mat - 4"x5"
  • Bits of nature, yellow mat - 5"x6"
  • Wild Flowers, yellow floral 1"x3"

Once I was happy with the layout, it was time to decorate. Yay! The Happy Camper die cut is from the Chit Chat and the cute beaver and owl are from the Odds and Ends.

In this corner, I added the "memories" tab from the This & That Sticker sheet and a few more die cuts from the Odds & Ends. To give them the feeling of floating, I added some foam tape behind the star and mosquito.

At the bottom, I used a journal card from the 12x12 My Favorite Flannel print. It has a little tent scene on it so I tucked the corner behind the tree die cuts and I think it looks pretty cute!

To finish it off, I added the "outdoors" die cut from the Chit Chat. And voila! My colorful layout is done and ready for some fun hiking, camping and exploring photos! I'm ready for fall ... bring on the cool weather!

GREAT OUTDOORS STICKY NOTE HOLDERS | with Karen

I am a sucker for stationary, and the only thing I love more than sticky notes, pens, pencils, paper clips (you know what I am saying) are cute little Doodlebug inspired containers designed to hold them all! So for this week's project, I decided to use the Great Outdoors collection for a fall themed sticky note easel holder.

  Front-both

Ummmm...can we say cuteness overload?!

Side-view

Here's a little side view so you can see how the sticky notes just fit into a little pocket on the easel. I used textured cardstock for the base and patterned paper for the pocket, but you could definitely use all patterned patterned paper or even reverse them.

Fox-front

And then I just embellished them with some die cutes from the Odds and Ends and Chit Chat packs, creating a little scene on each. It's a simple project that I think has a pretty awesome "wow" factor to it with the all the dimension! Here's how you can make one too:

Collage-tutorial

Easel Base (textured cardstock): 3 3/4" X 12"
Score at 4" (mountain fold), 8" (mountain fold), 9 3/4" (valley fold), 11 1/2" (mountain fold).
Glue the 1/2" section to the first 4" section.

Pocket (patterned paper - remember, you will see both sides so choose accordingly): 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
Score on the short side at 1/2" and 3 3/4"; Score on the long side at 2 1/2" and 3"
Fold in the two panels along the long edge and trim inward at the small flap created by the 2 1/2" and 3" score. Fold these in. Crease other fold and then glue together to create the pocket. Glue the pocket onto the easel base.

Both-laying-down

And then have all sorts of fun embellishing with the Odds and Ends and Chit Chat packs. Fill them with a sticky note pad (full 3x3" notepads will fit or anything smaller) and you are all set to have these adorn your desk or the desk of someone special to you. I think I need to go make 100 of these! Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs,

GREAT OUTDOORS DOODLEPOP CARDS | with Karen

Sooooo...I have a bit of a confession to make. I love Doodle-pops! Now, I know that might not sound like a big deal (because who doesn't love Doodle-pops), but the truth is that I love them so much that most of the time, I can't bring myself to use them. I have lost count of how many I have, but my collection keeps getting bigger and bigger because the Doodle-pops just keep getting cuter and cuter!

All-3-1

So for today's project I decided to force myself to make some cards with my favourite product. Because I have some special people that I want to say "thank-you" to, and special people deserve special Doodle-pops.

Bear

The Great Outdoors collection has been out on the kitchen table for just over a month now and the projects have been flying! I love this collection - the colours work for masculine and feminine cards and the characters are as cute as can be! Honey Bear was the first Doodle-pop to find a home on card...

Shaker

...followed very quickly by the amazing shaker Doodle-pop called S'more Fun! I am a sucker for a shaker, but I am usually too lazy to make them. Doodlebug always has my back!

Washi

Since I am already confessing, I should also let you know that I also collect washi tape, but what better place for a beautiful strip of washi than on a card. I actually ran a strip across the back of my white card base and then to coordinate - across the white envelopes that I was using as well. I love that these spots that I usually don't think much about get a little extra Doodlebug cuteness too!

Closeup-all-3

At the end of the day, I know that these Doodle-pop cards will bring as many smiles to the recipients as they do to me. And the best news is that now, I have more room for more Doodle-pops!

Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,

GREAT OUTDOORS PILLOW BOXES | with Karen

It is a bit of a dreary time up here in Calgary right now. The snow has melted and everything is looking a wee bit brown (and will be for awhile yet). So I decided it was time to pull out some fun Doodlebug colour that would fill me up with the amazing colours that will be coming my way outdoors in the months to come!

All-3-2

The Great Outdoors collection was one of the releases in the fall that I absolutely adore and it seemed like the the perfect fit for my winter blues. I decided to use it for some fun pillow boxes that I could use for some treats...because if I needed a little pick-me-up, I figured that there are probably some other people in my life that could use them too.

Bear

I topped off the pillow boxes with some of the adorable die cuts from the Odds and Ends pack. This has always been one of my favourite Doodlebug product.

  Beaver

Odds and Ends make crafting a breeze - the cuts are perfect for layering and they are always o-so cute!

Owl

Then, for just a bit more texture and some sparkle, I added a few mini jewels - another favourite Doodlebug product of mine. Whether I am making cards or crafts like these pillow boxes, the mini jewels are a product I always reach for!

All-3-2

These little treat boxes were the perfect pick-me-up for today. I think I might be reaching for this collection a few more times in the coming months!  Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

GREAT OUTDOORS NATURE IS CALLING LAYOUT | with Lisa

Ohhhh, I just love this new collection!!! "The Great Outdoors" is not a typical Lisa-collection, because mostly I want to use pink on every layout. But I have to say... these greens, blues and oranges look just toooo pretty together! :)  Here's my second layout with the collection.

For this layout, I wanted to create something simple.  I've created so many layouts recently, where I filled the entire page with colors and embellishments, and I wanted to create something cleaner this time.  One of the patterned papers gave me the idea actually. It's a paper that is full of small squares with little images and sentiments inside. I used a circle template and traced a few circles on some of the squares. I cut them out and then also cut out the animals represented on those circles, from the second sheet of the same paper. I wanted to layer them on top of the circles, using foam squares, to create dimension.

To create my grid design, I needed nine circles. So for the rest of the circles, I cut them out from different patterned papers. To give the circles a special touch and even more dimension, I also cut out nine scalloped circles that were slightly bigger than the other ones. That way, I could layer everything. I went through the Doodle Pops to fill in some of the remaining circles and chose the tree and the squirrel.   Since they were glossier than the images I cut out of paper, I used Glossy Accents on all of the images to make them glossy too. I also distressed all of the edges of the circles.

When I had all of my circles ready to go, I placed them on a white sheet of cardstock and decided how I wanted to adhere them down. Then I traced a grid on the paper using a pencil and went over the lines with my sewing machine and different kinds of threads and stitches. Then I adhered all of the circles. I added the photo to the circle in the middle and then used a banner sticker as my title.

After that, I went through all of the cute embellishments from the collection and added Jewels, enamel dots, stickers and enamel stickers...  I really like how it turned out, so colorful and happy. :) Thanks for checking in and see you very soon.
