HEY PUMPKIN COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN | with Kathy

I can't believe October starts tomorrow!  It's time to start our countdown to Halloween, and I have a fun side step card which I converted to a Halloween countdown using the Hey Pumpkin Collection!  Take a peek...

Get ready to trick or treat!  To create this project, I started with a side-step card base.  The one I used is from the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop (linked below) but I also have a tutorial here to which shows how to make the base.  My base was cut from the citrus textured cardstock which is from the Hey Pumpkin Coordinating Textured Cardstock Pack.  I decorated the base with papers from the 6x6 pad.

To create the "countdown" feature, I cut squares from the Homespun Heavyweight Acetate.  I cut them so that the spiderwebs were centered.  I then added numbers to each using some beetle black Alphabet Soup Puffy Alphas.  To do a month-long countdown, you will need the following numbers ( 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0).  The numbers are held on to the card base using a mini clothespin in beetle black which I hot glued for stability.  I decorated the clothespin with a creepy-cute spider from the Halloween Night Shape Sprinkles.

On the "step" side of the card, I created a little scene using Odds & Ends, Icon Stickers, Halloween Assortment Sprinkles, Halloween Night Shape Sprinkles and some Mini Icon Stickers.  I love how Doodlebug's collections have a variety of sizes of their icons to help create fun scenes!  I also added strips of "grass" that I cut with a border die from my stash.  The Halloween word is from the Chit Chat pieces.

To make my witch, bat & stars seem like they are flying, I added a piece of clear heavyweight acetate to the last level of the side Step card, and added the stickers and shape sprinkles directly to the acetate.  I love the look it creates!

Of course I had to add one of the cute black kitties from the collection.  I used one of the kitty in a cup stickers from the Icon Stickers, glued him behind the Halloween and added some coordinating sprinkles to make it look like his paws.

On the back of the card, I have a little pocket to hold all of the numbers.  I covered it with a fun circle element from the Chit Chat Pieces.

If you create any projects using the Hey Pumpkin Collection, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on socials!  We always love to see what you create!  That's it for me today, thank you for stopping by to peek!

HEY PUMPKIN COUNTDOWN CALENDAR | With Traci

Hi crafty friends! Traci here and today, I'm sharing a fun project that I made for October. I put a holiday spin on a Christmas tradition by making a Halloween advent calendar with the new Hey Pumpkin Collection and the House Advent Calendar. My grandlittles and I love this fall holiday, so I thought it would be fun to count down the days until they can wear their costumes and eat way too many sweets!

Halloween House Shaped Advent Calendar with lots of cute stickers and drawers

This calendar is a great way to celebrate Halloween a little bit each day. With 24 drawers that measure 2 1/4" x 2 1/4", they're a perfect size for small surprises. The house is approx. 15" x 16" and made of heavy white chipboard so, it's a colorful holiday decor piece that can be used year after year.

To decorate it, I started by covering the sides in 12x12 pattern papers. I used the Halloween Haul print on the roof and down the sides. Then, I covered the chimney in the pretty pink Boo-Tiful Bouquet.

Next, was the triangular space at the top. I filled it with stickers from the Hey Pumpkin Shadowbox Insert Kit. I love these. This one has witches, pumpkins, candies, spiders, and all sorts of cuteness! Plus they have enamel shape sprinkles that add shine and dimension.

In the center, I added the adorable Pumpkin Patch Doodle-pops. This little black cat and pumpkin are just too cute. And for sparkle, I threw in some mini jewels from the Halloween Assortment. I love this fun collage!

For the drawers, I covered each one in a fab-boo-lous print from the 6x6 paper pad. I used
a 1 1/2" scallop circle punch, a 1 1/4" circle punch, and black and white card stock to create the circular shapes. Next, I added lots of cute mini icon stickers and dates with numbers from the Alphabet Soup puffy stickers.

Since there are only 24 drawers and there are 30 days leading up to Halloween, I added 2 dates to each of the drawers in the last row. I mean ... there must be a surprise for every day! 😉

As the final touch, I trimmed out the front and the chimney with some Chunky Doodle Twine in beetle black.

For another idea, check out my Christmas version of this advent calendar where I used the wonderful Gingerbread Kisses Collection.

This was such a fun project. It's a great activity to do with your family and it looks amazing sitting out for Halloween. The new Hey Pumpkin Collection and the House Advent Calendar are just spook-tacular! 🧡

SWEET & SPOOKY HALLOWEEN COUNTDOWN CALENDAR | with Tya

Yay! It's finally Spooky Season! This is one of my absolute favorite times of the year and I have enjoyed so much being able to create with the new "Sweet and Spooky" collection to make some really fun Halloween-themed projects. Today I am sharing with you my latest creation- you've heard of the 12 Days of Christmas ... but what about the 13 Days of Halloween? Let me show you how we will be celebrating it here at the Smith house!

This cute little frame is an advent type of calendar, where each day, in the 13 days leading up to Halloween - your little monsters can open the little treat boxes for a treat! Super fun! So I started with a basic black 12x12 picture frame, took the glass pane out, and added the Spooky Sprinkles 12 x12 paper to the chipboard backing of the photo frame. I love the little dots on this paper!

I added this title topper to the frame with some foam tape. I used 2 stickers from the This and That Sticker Sheet to make the title, and then added 2 large pink Sweet and Spooky Shaped Sprinkles to each side of the Halloween Sticker. I also added a scalloped orange and black border sticker from the This and That Sticker Sheet to the bottom edge of the frame as well.

To make each of my boxes I used various cardstock papers from the Sweet and Spooky Textured Cardstock papers and made 13 boxes. I found the cute box shape on my Pinterest board and followed the instructions found here to make the boxes and the added pattern paper from the 6x6 Paper Pad. To keep the boxes closed I added a clear Velcro Dot to the top flap of the bag. This made it nice and easy to get into the good stuff!

And now the fun part! Decorating the boxes!!! I used lots of embellishments from the Sweet and Spooky collection to decorate the boxes. I used the Odds and Ends, Chit Chat, Bits and Pieces, Icon Sticker Sheet, Mini Puffy Stickers, Mini Icon Puffy Stickers, and some Hocus Pocus Shaped Sprinkles. To make my numbers, I die cut (13) 3/4 inch stitched circles from a metal die and some white cardstock. I then used one of my new favorite products, the Alphabet Soup Puffy Stickers in Beetle Black. They were the perfect size for these mini little boxes! The black and white polka dot bows were from my stash.

Here are just a few of the boxes. You can see all the fun layers of embellishments on each of the boxes!

I cannot wait to bring this out and watch the kids have fun seeing their little sweet surprises! I hope I have inspired you to create something fun ( hopefully candy will be involved - you absolutely cannot go wrong there!) this Halloween season using this faboolous Sweet and Spooky collection! Have the best day and thanks so much for stopping by!
