Happy Mail Challenge 4: Twine

Welcome to Happy Mail Challenge 4: Tie some twine on your Happy Mail card and send it to someone you love (click here to read about Happy Mail). Come play with us and link up your own creations of incorporating TWINE into your Happy Mail over on BPC website. Here's some ideas on what you could create.

Now you do not "have to" knit your twine like Melinda did, but WOW this is one way of incorporating twine on your Happy Mail!!

Sherry Cartwright created this fun holiday Happy Mail and told us, "I love sending and receiving something fun in the mail.  Bills or advertisements just don't cut it.  So, this year, I started sending some happy mail [a la Stacy Julian, Big Picture Classes and Doodlebug Design].   I used the Happy Mail challenge 4 -- tie it up with twine! as a starting point for this card.  I used white doodle twine and tied it in a simple bow.  Nothing fancy, but still delightful."

Here's the card Monique created for this challenge. She made a Christmas card using the twine from the North Pole collection:

Go take the challenge and send some happy mail!

Bling that Thing....Layout Inspiration

Halloween Bling Layout

When you have a house full of little boys, it seems the opportunities to "bling things up" are pretty rare (luckily I do have one daughter in the mix too)...so I take advantage of every opportunity to add a little bling when I can. That's why this project was extra fun - the Halloween Jewels and Halloween Pearls not only add bling, they add bits of brightly colored fun and interest! I added jewels randomly to my polka-dot background paper and I just love how it turned out. You'll find little pearls on each side of the "O" in my title and if you look closely you'll even notice the cute jack-o-lantern on the bottom has some pearly black eyes of his own! Have fun adding jewels and pearls to your next layout, especially if you normally shy away from the bling!

Holiday Wreath
by Sherry Cartwright

This holiday, take your scrapbooking and papercrafting supplies off the page!   Use them for crafts, cards, gifts and home decor.   I used Doodlebug's awesomely cute North Pole collection to create this wreath, adding to it some staples ---- pearls, jewels and buttons.

I traced a dinner plate, and a dessert plate inside of that circle, onto cardstock to make the base.  Cut it out.   Then it was ready decorate with handcut holly leaves of various sizes and using a variety of green papers, all folded in the center with the ScorPal.   I was sure to leave some still folded and gluing only the ends so that there was some dimension.   Then, decorate with all those cute doo-dads in your scrappy space.

I created a very small snow scene by the bow, then added two mini doodlepops to pull it altogether.
I'm ready to make another in a non-traditional color scheme. Falallalalalaallalalaaaaaaaa!

Supply List: patterned paper: north pole playful pines, holly-days and santa's scarf, santa's workshop little helpers, petite prints daisy-stripe; mini doodle-pops: flurry, festive flock; north pole card stock stickers; jewels - christmas assortment; mini pearls - christmas assortment; boutique buttons - ladybug; mini jewels - ladybug

Dude Card

The Scor-Pal was a lot of fun to use! Here I made a multi-dimensional card base by cutting and scoring a regular piece of 12" x 4.5" cardstock. Then I embellished it with a scored rosette with scored tails. I love how this tool adds so much dimension and interest to any project. I'll have a full step-by-step photo tutorial over on my blog showing how I made the card base and the rosette.

Tuesday Tutorial: Cute Cuts

by Jing-Jing Nickel
http://thislittleartofmine.blogspot.com

Summer is in full swing!  What are some of your favorite activities during the summer season to do, to photograph and to scrap?  For me, the constant every summer is strawberry picking at various local farms.  I take and print endless number of photos.  I am not exaggerating by saying that I have enough such photos printed to last a lifetime from just one season!

One of my favorite product by Doodlebug is the cute cuts that come with every collection. I typically use them for journaling spots on layouts and the focal point of a card's sentiment. I thought that I would try punching out a bunch of the die-cuts and make a layout using mostly just with them.  I took a few pictures along the way so you can see how I layered them.

After most of the big elements have been adhered onto the layout, then I embellished with stickers and journaling. Notice I fit in a strawberry sticker in the journaling as well.  Thank you so much for checking out this post, now let's take more summer photos!
