Color Challenge: Limeade Green Monstah Layout

Hi Everyone, it's Kathy today with my take on Doodlebug's Design by Color Challenge.  The Design Team was asked to pick one color from the Doodlebug palette and create a layout/project/card  that was at least 75% that color.  It was a hard choice (I love ALL Doodlebug colors...) but I chose Limeade.  And as luck would have it, I had the perfect picture to complement my color choice!

For those of you who are not sports fans, or familiar with Boston landmarks, the Green Monster (properly pronounced "Monstah" in Boston) is the left field wall of Fenway Park.  My husband and my daughter recently attended a concert at Fenway and were kind enough to get their photo snapped in front of the wall! (ok, let's be honest, I sent them with explicit instructions to do so...)  I started by searching through my Doodlebug stash for all things Limeade!  I found many papers including some from the Petite Prints, Kraft in Color and even some from 2011's Monster Mania collections.  (I realize I've just outed myself as a Doodlebug hoarder....)

I added a Limeade Chevron Treat bag to hold a hidden journaling tag which is embellished with some Limeade Doodle Twine.

I had a fun time going through all my Doodlebug goodies looking for more Limeade!  I found some stickers from the Kraft in Color Collection, some Limeade Fancy Frills, and a couple of Stickers from the Day to Day Collection.  Best of all, I found this ADORABLE Monster Doodle pop in my stash from the Monster Mania release!!!  He was the perfect addition!!
To complete my layout I added some Limeade Shin-dig Sugar Coated alphas, mixed with some Limeade Teensy Type letters for my title.  This was a really fun layout to create...I had a great time figuring out how to make it all work!  That's it for me today, make sure to keep coming back to see more inspiring project from the design team!  Thanks for stopping by!

Using Treat Bags for your Project Life Scrapbooking

Hi Everyone, it's Kathy Skou today with a fun Pocket Life layout using some Doodlebug Treat Bags.  I love Doodlebug's Treat Bags...they're so fun and colorful!  And like all Doodlebug products, they coordinate beautifully with a number of collections!   I chose to work with the Limeade Chevron & Swimming Pool Gingham bags.  They're a perfect match for Doodlebug's Day to Day collection.  Here's my PL spread featuring some silly photo booth pictures my daughter and her friends took at their Sophomore Ring Dance.

I chose the Swimming Pool Gingham bag for my title card.  I turned it over, and folded down the flap so you could see the inside color.  The bag made the perfect "container" for my mini photo booth props which were made from some Day to Day stickers and Pixies.

Day to Day was really the perfect collection for photo booth pictures!  Here's a peek at more of my cards...
The insta-frame was cut from one of the Day to Day Simply Put Album Inserts. I stitched on a plain piece of vellum, and filled it with some Doodlebug Sequins for my confetti pocket.  The big bow-tie "photo booth prop" was made from one of the Day to Day Mini Ties & Bow Ties and a yellow Pixie Stick.
For my final card, I used the Limeade Chevron Treat bag as a tag holder.  I listed the "cast of characters" on the tag.  The bag is perfect for hidden journaling!
That's it for me today...make sure to keep checking the Doodlebug Blog for more Design Team inspiration using Treat bags!  Thanks for stopping by!

Mailbox Christmas Countdown

Ahhh...to be a kid at Christmas time! Hi Doodlebugs! It's Kathy Martin here today to share an Advent calendar I created with a little metal mailbox tin and Doodlebug Design's Home for the Holidays collection.

You can find these mailboxes at Target in the dollar spot department throughout the year. Whenever I see them I pick up several since they make adorable projects!

I opted for this colorful striped paper to cover my box...it reminds me of candy canes! Then I embellished it with a pretty green bow, tag, Doodle Twine, accent stickers and tiny jingle bells.

Doodlebug Jewels add eye catching sparkle as tree toppers!

From the this & that sticker sheet I found the this adorable tag. I love the vintage style font!

Tucked inside the box are 24 pieces of paper with holiday activities written on them, money or treat coupons.

Here's the back of the box...another adorable holiday house.

I can't wait until December 1st! It'll be great fun to see how excited my son is to open one of these paper rolls each morning!

Hope you enjoyed my share and the season!

Popcorn Treat Buckets
by Wendy Sue Anderson

Hi Doodlebug friends!  It’s Wendy Sue here today – and I’m excited to share a fun little halloween treat project with you today. I just love the new Halloween Parade line and can’t get enough of it!

I started by choosing three different patterned papers from the Halloween Parade collection (treat bag, candy stickers, halloween parade) and then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the pieces for the popcorn boxes.

I used a bracket label punch to make little tags with the black star (weird science) paper.

I placed “doodads” in the center of the labels and tucked in one of the little tickets from the fancy frills sticker sheet.

After all of the labels were assembled, I punched holes in either side and wrapped then around the box front with doodle twine.

Next, I created fun little Halloween picks to place in the popcorn – I used the Halloween pixies and flags to assemble these picks.

One of the best things about the pixies is that there are a LOT of them in the package – enough supplies to make 32 pixie sticks!
And that’s all there is to it – now just fill then up with some sugary sweet popcorn yumminess!

Happy Halloween – and here’s hoping for more TREATS than tricks! :)

Boo-tiful Halloween Cards
by Kathy Martin

Hey Doodlebugs! Kathy Martin here with a project share using the fabulous new Pixies and Halloween Parade line! Pixies have become a new favorite accent of mine! They're colorful and fun and I can't wait to decorate my next batch of home-baked cupcakes with them! I've already used them on a number of projects and today's goal was to step outside the box a little and find a couple unique ways to use them. For the spider web card I thought they looked fun as part of a cluster of elements accented with the Doodlebug Washi and for the second card I made little squares to frame my embellishments.

HOW TO WIN
We'll be giving away a set of the new Halloween Parade Pixies and Toppers (shown above). Go check out the projects on Xyron's blog for the past two days and let me know which project you like the best...leave a comment. We'll announce the Doodlebug winner tomorrow on the blog and offer a new giveaway. And don't forget to stop by the Xyron blog to enter to  win some fun adhesive products.

Shadow Boxes: Halloween Parade

We had such a hard time picking which Shadow Box projects to feature today...they are all so adorable and you will LOVE this week. But today we're going to pull out the Halloween Parade Collection projects and share them with you!

Haunted House Shadow Box
by Monique Liedtke

I never created a real shadow box before, not because I didn’t want to, but because I thought I couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to “ruin” the shadow box and so I never tried. But now I’m hooked! I just love how this 3D Haunted House turned out! To create this I used a Silhouette cut file (by Marji Roy) and the Doodlebug Halloween collection “Halloween Parade”. Although we don’t celebrate Halloween here in The Netherlands I love to decorate our house just a little bit and this shadow box is just what it needed!
