Shakin' It Up with Sequins: Layout Border Tutorial

We are SHAKING things up on the Doodlebug Blog for the next couple of weeks. Our team has been so excited to share the amazing things you can do with SEQUINS. They're all the trend right now and so many people have been asking how to use them. So we're here to show you and today we're going to start with this fun "border tutorial" by Jodi.

Hi Doodlebug Fans! Hope everyone is having a fantastic day, and I (Jodi)  hope to make it a little brighter with a fun layout tutorial on how to make a sequin border!  I started my layout by pulling colors from my daughters bathing suit in the photo I was using.  So I pulled the tangerine, lilac, and bubblegum sequins. I thought these colors would make a cute and sparkly border. I used the lily white dot/grid piece of patterned paper from the Kraft in Color Collection (the grid side) to use as my guidelines on where to punch my holes with my paper piercer. ( and I grabbed some Lily White Twine to use) Every third line on the grid, I would pierce a small hole:

Every third line on the grid, I would pierce a small hole. I pierced holes all around in a square along the edge of the layout. I then proceed to stitch and add a pattern of sequins between each pierced hole:

Once the entire sheet was complete, the border looked like this:

I love the idea of not using any adhesive to create this fun border! Next up was adding the photo (matted with limeade arrow/dot paper), and some chevron washi tape, a pink posie doodle-pop, and some Simply Sweet Cardstock stickers for the title.

I finished up by diecuting a  flower from papers in the Kraft in Color Collection and added some Doodlebug Buttons.

Here is the final product:

And some detailed shots:

Thanks for letting me share today! Hopefully you are keeping just a cool this summer!
