Hello | Planning For Mother's Day with Jennie

Oh my!  I was excited to work in my planner for the week of Mother's Day - I mean, I get to plan whatever I'd like! (Great, right?) I also thought I would decorate using the Doodlebug Hello Collection, I love the Jewel tones and florals!

It's great to start the week with that fun typewriter from the Hello Odds & Ends!  It makes the week feel fun yet definitely makes me keep track of those things I need to get done.

Other ways that I really dressed up the pages was not only to add the activities + to do lists, but also to use the Hello 6x6 padGarden Party washi, and the Gold Scallop Washi, too! It's so easy to dress up super functional pages, and make them so cute.

You have to include the beautiful florals!  There are so many in the Odds & Ends and the gold foil accents just really make me smile. I love putting them in spaces that would ordinarily remain white -- and I feel like it makes me more productive, too.  (Because I love looking at those cute embellishments!)

It's so easy to dress up my pages with the Doodlebug papers, die cuts and stickers.  It's not only easy, but I love the results. Bonus that Mother's Day gets to be shiny with the gold foil yet floral, too. Perfect!

Hello | Mother's Day Card and Gift Box by Brigit

Hello is a beautiful versatile collection that has bright bold colors with touches of gold foil. The mixture of icons in this collection makes it perfect for any occasion especially for Mother's Day.

There are so many gorgeous icons in this collection it made it very hard to choose what I was going to use for this Mother's Day gift set, but in the end I couldn't resist using the beautiful flowers.

The main focal point of the hat, which is a cut file from Dreaming Tree, is the pink poppy doodle-pop flower, it's gorgeous and I love the gold foil in the leaves! The two sheets of paper used from the 12 x 12 pack are called beautiful blooms and tickled pink.

Here's a photo of the hat opened, you can put some treats inside, which is what I'm going to do. The adorable little bird is from the hello jelly clips, the sweet sentiment is from the this & that sticker sheet and butterfly from the icon stickers.

The base is from the hello card and envelope assortment pack, I added a strip from the this & that sticker sheet and a cut piece of the beautiful blooms. I layered flowers from the odds & ends pack and some from the icon stickers along with some other stickers from the sheet. For the mom I used the bubblegum teensy type stickers.

Have a Happy Mother's Day, thanks for stopping by!

Hello! | Mother's Day Cards With Kathy

I'd like to say a big HELLO to the Hello Collection!  I'm kicking off a couple of weeks of Mother's Day inspiration using this FABULOUS new collection which is now available in stores!  The colors and embellishments are so perfect, I know I'm going to need to get more!  I made some fun Mother's Day cards using Hello, take a peek....

I have to say, I'm in love with the new Hello Odds & Ends.  The flowers, the hints of gold, the acetate pieces... SO MUCH FUN!   I decided to start by featuring the Odds & Ends in a Box Card.

The body of the box card is made from the Beautiful Blooms Paper.  In addition to the Odds and Ends, I used a butterfly sticker from the Icons Sticker Sheet,  a sentiment strip from the Chit Chat Pieces, the gorgeous new Heart of Gold Shaped Sprinkles and some Gold Abigail Font Stickers for mom.

My next card is a Pop Twist type of card.  I decorated the outside using the Navy Stripe Paper from the Hello 6x6 Pad, the Gold YOU and the hearts are from the Chit Chats, the love sticker from the This and That Sheet and some Beautiful Blossoms Shaped Sprinkles.

And when you open the card, you get a big surprise!  I embellished the inside with the bird and flowers from the Odds & Ends pack and the sentiment from the Chit Chat pack.  The Cupcake Chippers coordinated perfectly!

For my last card, I started with this cut file from Lori Whitlock.  I changed it a bit so that I could add the Odds and Ends Flowers.

I used the Hello There, Poppy Plaid and Lovely Papers for the pot, and then added the flowers, butterfly and bow from the Odds & Ends.  The top of the card pulls up, you could add a sentiment or even cut slots to hold a gift card for mom.

Be sure to check the blog over the next couple of weeks for more Hello Mother's Day inspiration from the Design Team!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Embellishing Focus | Mother's & Father's Day Cards by Karen

When I first started using Doodlebug papers, I was always struck by how cute and polished the patterned papers were. Everything coordinated and it was so easy to pull a cute project together in minutes. And then I discovered the world of Doodlebug embellishments and the truth is that I have never looked back. Almost all of my cards are made with Doodlebug papers and embellishments because, well - together they create something extra special. Let me show you what I mean. With Mother's Day and Father's Day coming down the pipe, I decided to get a head start on my cards using the great new collection called Down on the Farm. By pairing up a couple of cute die cuts from the Odds and Ends and Chit Chat collections together with some patterned paper, I was starting to lay out some cute little cards... ....like this once called "From All of Us Kids". Cute, right? But look what happens when I add just a few more embellishments - mini doilies, a few Sprinkles; and some mini paperclips. All of a sudden my card has gone from cute to cute AND polished! These are three products that make their way onto almost all of the cards I make. They add a punch of texture and I often use them to tie colours together across the card. The mini doilies are the perfect size for standard A2 cards, and can be used to frame some cute die cuts or Doodlepops. The Sprinkles; can be used to fill in some background space or to anchor a banner piece, and given that they come in so many sizes in a package, you can shake things up by mixing and matching or by choosing one size to work with on your project. And if you want something similar that is a bit more feminine looking, try the; Jewels for a sparklie embellishment. Oh, and don't forget the mini paperclips. Now look, if you know me at all, you will know that I am obsessed with stationary products, so these little cuties are right up my alley. But from a card-making perspective, I can always find just the right spot on the card to fill with a clip or two. Like the Sprinkles, they add some great texture and a pop of colour right where you need it, without taking away from the cute images that are the focus of the card. And by using these three embellishments in different ways, you can have a whole set of cards that are pulled together but totally unique!
I dare you to find one of my Doodlebug projects that doesn't feature at least two of these cute embellishments. They really are part of my card-making toolkit. And if they are not a part of yours yet, I dare you try them out and see if, like me, you never look back!
Thanks for stopping by! Hugs, Karen

Scrapbook and Cards Today Featured: Wendy's Mother's Day Ideas

In case you miss Wendy Sue Anderson's featured post over on Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine blog last week, we thought we'd repost it for you to enjoy as well (and include some additional photos that were not included).

Good morning SCT friends!  We have some Mother's Day inspiration for you from all our friends at Doodlebug Designs!  First up are some exclusive projects by Wendy Sue Anderson, Doodlebug design team member.  We loved the great message in her layout :)

Gift Bag Supplies: Flower Box (Simply Put Album Inserts, 6x6 Paper Pad, This & That Stickers); Doodle Twine (bon bon); Teensy Type (lily white); Mini Jewels (cupcake, limeade, swimming pool)

"Is your mom hard to shop for?  Mine is!  Whenever I find her favorite treats, I like to buy one or two and wrap them up especially for her.  This simple little gift bag topper is actually one of the journaling cards from the "simply put album inserts" pad -  I just folded it over and embellished it.  Super easy!

Wendy also created this great Mother's Day layout just for her...

Layout Supplies: Flower Box (Garden Grove, Woodsy, Tiny Tulips, Delicate Daisies, Garden Garland, Dash of Color, This & That Stickers, jewels); Doodle Twine (bon bon); Teensy Type (lily white); Mini Jewels (bubblegum, tangerine, limeade, swimming pool)

"I've had this photo from Mother's Day 2006 just sitting in my photo album.  I was hesitant to scrapbook it...because I guess I'm vain. ;)  I know I do not look great in this photo.   I look like I hadn't had time to get my hair colored in months.  I look pale.   I look exhausted.  I was.  Plain and Simple.  But look at those cute kids!  I love them so much and I am so grateful for them.  And because of that, I chose to set aside my vanity and create a page to celebrate each of them and the opportunity I get each year to celebrate the opportunity I have to be their mother -  I am so blessed to have them in my life each and every day! :)
