Doodlebug co-ordinate their products so that they have a base set of colours that are used for each collection along with embellishments etc. So when the task was set to mix and match from one collection to another it felt that anything and everything went together so I decided to simply grab a bit of this and a bit of that and 'go for it'.

Supply List: Colorwheel - Fancy Florals, Pocket Full o' Posies; Cut Outs - Classic, Santas Workshop; Cake & Icecream - Fun Fetti; Petite Prints - Bubblegum, Lilac, Limeade, Swimming Pool, Tangerine; Glitter Cardstock - White Rainbow Dot; Headlines - Summer Time; Headlines - Summer Time; Candy Shoppe Mini Rubons - Beetle Black; Chunky Brads - Bright Assortments.

Sketch Book by Nancy Damiano
I need a place to keep all of the design sketches I jot down while I'm out and about. I cut this file folder with a die cutting machine using Petite Prints patterned paper. I decorate the cover with mini polaroids and some of my favorite patterns. The Boutique Brads added just the right touch and still kept my project simple and easy to carry around.

SUPPLY LIST:  Boutique Brads: Nifty Notions. Paper: Petite Print Swimming Pool, Colorwheel Pocket full o' posies, Hometown, Window Box. Hopscotch Alphabet in Swimming Pool. Jack & Jill Rub-ons in Beetle.

You & You by Sherry Cartwright

One of the signature and timeless design elements of Doodlebug Design is their rainbow of colors.  While some manufacturers tend to change their color palette with trends and from year to year, Doodlebug keeps its color choices consistent.  The same rainbow of colors that were chosen years ago are still the same, with some additions, as when the company started.  THAT makes it super easy to mix and match products easily.   It always matches!

Project Life Layout
by Sherry Cartwright

I print smaller photos onto plain white cardstock for Project Life.  When that week’s work has been documented, my daughter uses the leftover photos for her scrapbook projects --- when I don’t use them first.   Here, I used a collage of photos with a border of brown cardstock to frame them. I added in some embellishments in the hodge-podge style I love so much.

Doodlebug products used:  Petite Prints dot grid patterned cardstock - bon bon; Hopscotch alphabet stickers - bubble gum; Hopscotch alphabet stickers - bon bon; Nifty Notions fancy frills sticker [ruler]; Feeling Groovy fancy frill sticker [peace signs, heart, brown loops]; Welcome Home fancy frill sticker [white loops]; Sugarcoated boutique brad [heart] - Christmas candy; Sugarcoated brad - bright assortment

Nancy's "SWEET" Giveaway + a HOP!

by Nancy Damiano

With Valentine's day just around the corner, I've been hard at work making token gifts and cards for those I love. The week I've been working on boxes full of Sweethearts and gift cards for my son's teachers. And what better way to do it than with the Sweet Cakes line!

SUPPLY LIST:  Sweet Cakes Fancy Frills, Sweets Paper, Berry Sweet Paper, Hugs&Kisses Paper, Babycakes Paper, Valentine Doodletwine assortment, Sweetheart Doodlepop, Thank You Doodles Sticker, Bubblegum Create-a-Card.

I started out by making the box with the Silhouette using two different Sweet Cakes patterns - a print for the top box and a more classic dot print for the actual box. I also lined the box with a stripe pattern for some contrast. Next I filled it up with packages of Sweethearts and a gift card from our local movie theater.

I used a piece of acetate for the window of the box and some jewels to decorate the white border. I made a 'garland' of hearts using twine and some punched out hearts. I think it adds a little whimsy and a cute decorative touch.

And now for the giveaway --- visit my blog at www.thepaperorchard.blogspot.com and leave a comment (there are more photos there too) and then come back to the Doodlebug blog, leave a comment here and  YOU'RE ENTERED to win the Sweet Cakes line! Winners will be announced on 1/31/12 right here.

Tuesday Tutorial: Multiple Photo Layout

by Nancy Damiano

Every year I take dozens of pictures of the kids in our family opening gifts. And every year I'm disappointed in the photos - they're dark, blurry or use lots of flash. While I'm practicing becoming a better photographer in low-light situations, I needed to find a way to showcase all of these not-so-great shots. The pictures aren't perfect, but the expressions in those little faces and the memories are!

The best way to showcase lots of pictures (and make not great ones look better) is to print them out in smaller sizes. I started out by making a grid of circles with my die cutting machine that measured 2".

I left room in the center of the aqua patterned paper so that I could tie twine in the center. I was able to use 7 photos in a small, compact space and still showcase the excitement of opening gifts. I placed the Santa's Workshop stickers on white cardstock, filled the rest of the circles with photos and backed the entire grid on kraft cardstock.

This is a quick and easy way to showcase some of the many photos you're sure to take this Holiday season!

Supply List:
Santa's Workshop: Cardstock Icon Stickers, Border Sticker
Doodle Twine: Christmas Assortment
Headlines: 'tis the Season
Expression Rub-on: 'tis the Season
Mini Jewels: Ladybug

Merry Christmas Frame by Kathy Martin
For this project I used a frame that I've had a long time and was about to donate to the Goodwill when a project idea hit me! The frame has four pieces of glass and I accented the three inner pieces to create a dimensional holiday scene. If you look closely, you will notice there are rhinestones scattered on all three pieces of glass to give it a snowy look.
