DOODLEBUG SHAKERS - GIANT SHAKER POPS | with Kathy

Happy April! I'm excited to be kicking off a couple of weeks of Shakers Inspiration! I just love the new shakers... they are so fun, and come in all of Doodlebug's fabulous colors and some different shapes!  I had so many ideas on how to use them, it was hard to narrow it down!  I finally decided, that I should make some giant Shaker Pops... just like the Shaker-Pops that come with all of the collections, just bigger! Because... well who doesn't love a Shaker Pop???  Take a peek...

I added my giant Shaker Pops to the fronts of some A2 Cards... and I just love them!  They really were easy to make.  I started with some Doodlebug SVG files (linked at the bottom of the post).  I put them together using some Doodlebug papers, Heavy Weight Acetate, Shakers and some chipboard.  I've outlined the general steps below.

First, I looked for files that had a "shape" to fill.  I cut those shapes from a thinner chipboard using my Silhouette Cameo.  For each shaker, I cut 6 pieces of the chipboard.  This gave the shaker enough "height" to fit the shakers.  I also cut a solid of each shape from our Heavy Weight Acetate.

Next I stacked the chipboard pieces and glued them all together.  As an added step (not necessary, but it adds a nice finishing touch) I cut a thin strip of paper (just slightly smaller than 1/8 inch) and covered the edges of my shaker.  You could also paint the edges.

I cut the other pieces of my chosen cut files and glued my chipboard "frame" to the base of the cut file.

I added my shakers, and then added a top piece of the cut file which was layered on top of the  acetate and glued.

I like to make the shakers in their entirety before adding to a project, it gives them a bit more stability. Here are my three giant Shaker Pops!

And here are the individual cards...

For my first card I started with the Lots of Love Bubble Tea SVG.  I used the outline of the cup for my "frame"  I pieced the shaker together using some different Petite Prints and filled it with beetle black Shakers.  The card base and sentiment are from the Lots of Love collection.

My second card is based on the Pretty Kitty- Curious Kitty SVG.  I used the fish bowl as my frame for the shaker.  The kitty was pieced together using petite prints and the card with papers from the Pretty Kitty Collection.  The Hello and little fish are from the Seaside Summer Collection.  I filled the fish bowl with some Lily White Shakers.

For my last card, I have a baby shower coming up soon and thought it would be fun to make a little card.  I started with the Special Delivery Bottle SVG.  I pieced it together using some petite prints and filled it with lily white shakers.  The card base is a combination of petite prints and Special Delivery papers.

These really were so fun to make!  Be sure to check in often over the next couple of weeks for more Shaker inspiration.  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

PETITE PRINTS KITTY TAG ALBUM | with Jen

I just love the new Petite Prints and I thought what better way to make the most of them than with a tag album! And what better subject than my sweet velcro-kitty Gus-Gus!

I made a very simple tag album out of heavy acetate. The tag bases are 4"x6". I made a template to get the angled tops and the hole exact on all of them.  I used the Candy Stripe-Sprinkles and Plaid Polka Dot Petite Prints as my page bases.

When you mat acetate you can see through to the back of the paper on each side! It makes for a fun way to add pops of color with very little paper.

It's also a great way to use up leftover Odds and Ends and Bits and Pieces or other embellishments.

Below I have a short process video on how to mat the acetate so your adhesive doesn't show.

Have a great day!

PETITE PRINTS SO LOVED LAYOUT | with Brianna

Hey friends! Brianna Lepper here today sharing a sweet layout using the new Petite Prints! These prints are gorgeous and I really enjoyed putting this page together. I hope that you like it!

I wanted to use the Plaid-Polka Dot Prints so I took out the 6x6 paper pad and cut down a bunch of squares in various sizes. The largest was a 2.5 x 2.5 inch and the smallest was a 1x1 inch. I decided to document a photo of our new baby so I chose the softer colors. I went with Cupcake, Citrus, Tangerine, Pistachio and Lemon. They're all so pretty!

Once I had all of my squares cut out, I arranged them on a diagonal on the Candy Stripes-Sprinkles paper in Lily White. I popped all of the squares up on foam tape for some dimension and then sprayed some white acrylic paint right on top of all of them. I then splattered on gold spray for some sparkle and shine. The squares not only created a fun background, they also provided some great spots for embellishing!

I decided to embellish using the Pretty Kitty collection. Even though this layout isn't about a cat, it still has a lot of soft and pretty elements that went perfectly for my baby girls page! I chose a phrase from the Chit Chat pack and it fit nicely in this space under the squares.

I went through the same Chit Chat pack and pulled out all of the florals and a few hearts that I could include. I also added in a couple of banner pieces as well. I just love the look of all of the squares together. The dimension and the colors.. It just all works so nicely!

When I use shapes around my layout like I did on this page, I like to treat a few of them like their own separate layouts when it's time to embellish. They really create the perfect little spaces to highlight different embellishments. From the Pretty Kitty collection, I pulled in the Puffy Icons and a few Sprinkles in the Pastel Assortment and added those to several of my squares. I'm am LOVING this color palette!

For a fun finishing touch and to add a few more pops of color around my page, I tucked in some tangled thread. Here's one last look at my page:

Thank you for stopping by today, I hope that I inspired you in some way! Do you like to create with shapes on your projects? This would be fun to do with other shapes like triangles, hearts or even stars. I'll see you in my next post friends!

PRETTY KITTY GUEST DESIGNER SARAH BARGO

Hey paper peeps Sarah Bargo here again! I created another layout using the adorable new collection "Pretty Kitty!"

I had a lot of fun with this one because I got to play with brown and I feel like I never do that anymore?! I wanted to kind of match the photo so I started pulling out all of the cute brown bits & pieces from the collection, and I discovered that they looked super cute on the aqua background!

When my son was getting his kitty used to being around the other big furry beast, he fluffed up, arched his back, then hopped sideways chasing him all the way down the hallway! I'm like well. I think he's going to be ok lol! These two are so funny together!

That's it for me today, I hope you have a great day!

PRETTY KITTY | GUEST DESIGNER SARA BARGO

We are excited to welcome our Guest Designer Sarah Bargo Today!  Sarah got to play with the Pretty Kitty Collection, check out her adorable layout!

Hey there paper peeps Sarah Bargo here! First off I just want to say thank you so much to the Doodlebug team for having me guest and letting me play with so many fun products! I was so excited to play with the darling new collection "Pretty Kitty" because I'm using it to scrap my son's sweet fur babies! (my grand-pets?..)

I created this simple background by repeating the same "meow" cut file word, then sprinkled in some cute little elements! I love the minty papers with the pops of pink! And yes, you are seeing that photo correctly, the kitty has little thumbs lol! Here are some more views....

I'll be back with more from the Pretty Kitty Collection!

PRETTY KITTY SO LOVED LAYOUT | with Tarrah

What do you do when you have the gorgeous Pretty Kitty collection but don't own any kittens or cats?! You pull out all the flowers, hearts and circle elements from the collection and document a sweet photo of your niece!

The Pretty Kitty collection is just so sweet and as you can see can be used for so many other themed projects like little girls! I decided on a diagonal design for my layout placing the larger circle elements first onto white cardstock. The white cardstock was trimmed down to 11' x 11' and adhered to the Dear to my Heart patterned paper. I also machine stitched a border around the edge for some added texture.

You can see in the image above that I placed my round photo in the centre of the large scalloped circle sticker. I added craft foam underneath and also lightly inked the edge of the photo with black ink to help define the photo. I love how the photo looks with the scallop layered underneath.

Once I was happy with the placement of the larger elements on the layout, I started choosing and auditioning the smaller elements, sticking with my chosen diagonal design. I chose Sprinkles, Puffy Shapes, small die-cuts. I love to layer embellishments on other embellishments so I took some of the gorgeous Sprinkles and placed them on top of the matching color floral die-cuts.

I love how my layout turned out and hope you enjoyed reading about how I created it? Thanks for stopping by! Happy creating!
