SIMPLY SPRING MINI ALBUM + FLIP THRU VIDEO | with Traci

It's the end of February and you know what that means?  Spring is right around the corner ... well, officially the first day of Spring is March 19th this year.  It might still be cold where some of you live, but all the more reason to pull out some sunny spring paper and play!  Here's a fun little project to spark your Spring creativity ...
Most of the paper is from the adorable Simply Spring collection.  There might be a piece here and there from other Doodlebug lines, and I used some petite prints for the shutters and window box.  The window design is a Doodlebug SVG file which you can purchase over at Lori Whitlock's shop here.
Check out my video to see all of the pages, and I'll have a tutorial for cutting and assembling the window posted over on my blog tomorrow, 2/28, so stop by if you'd like to get more info on the design.
Thank you for letting me share another mini album with you today!

TYPEWRITER BOX CARD | with Kathy

I love typewriters.  They are so retro and fun.  I have a 1950's teal typewriter in my craft room, it just makes me happy.  It's my love of typewriters that made me determined to create a box card based on the adorable little typewriter icon in the Love Notes Collection.  It took a few tries, but I finally found success... take a peek...

How cute is this card??!! I originally thought it would be great for Valentine's Day, but when I thought more, this card could be used for any number of occasions.  I created 3 different typed sentiments.  Here are some close-ups...

The card even folds flat to fit into a standard 5x7 envelope.

I created an SVG file for this card, which includes all 3 sentiments (it does not include the envelope).  It is available exclusively in the Lori Whitlock SVG Shop here.

I also put together a quick assembly tutorial.

1) Start by cutting the pieces.  The paper with the sentiment is done using Print and Cut.  Add the roller bar, paper and paper guide to the main piece as shown.  Add the keys and space bar to the typewriter key inserts.
2)  Add the dark grey rectangle to the back of the insert with the notch as shown.  Add the light grey "keys" to the top center of that piece.
3)  Add the front strip to the main typewriter piece to form the "box" for the box card.  The tabs are glued on the inside.
4)  Add adhesive to the biggest insert's tabs.  Insert into the box, aligning the edge tabs with the back of the box.  It should be flush to the bottom of the box.  Press the tabs to the typewriter sides to secure.

5)  Add the front (shortest) keyboard insert.  Add adhesive to the tabs, insert towards the front of the box.  A good guide is to use the tabs from the front of the box to align.  Press the tabs to the side to secure.
6) Repeat with the middle-size keyboard piece.  Use the tabs from the front insert as a guide to where to glue.
7) Repeat with the last keyboard piece.

A general note on box cards.  You want the tabs for all of the inserts to be folded in the same direction so your card will fold flat.

If you make one of these Typewriter Box Cards, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram!  We would love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

LOTS O' LUCK - Layout | with Tegan

Since it seems like photo party sticks are all the rage these days I made my own for St. Patty's Day using the Doodlebug Beer cut files! I then documented my photos using the brand new and very cheery Lots O' Luck collection! I love that this collection focuses on greens, but also has some rainbow elements mixed in to make it even more fun!
I stepped out of my comfort zone of solid white backgrounds and used the Doodlebug Citrus Floral-Graph patterned paper for my base. It coordinates perfectly with the collection and helps the white die cuts pop.

I started by adhering a section of the striped Rainbows End patterned paper to the top of my page. I also added a strip of the clover leaf Lots O' Luck patterned paper. I then embellished the top with lots of Odds & Ends pieces. An enamel cloud and a couple adorable enamel ladybugs finish off this section.

I then used a cut apart card from the Pot O' Gold patterned paper as a page element. I embellished around it with the St. Patrick's Day emblem sticker from the This and That Sticker Sheet and a little dancing leprechaun from the Icons Sticker Sheet. I then added the beer, rainbow, and unicorn Odds & Ends pieces. A couple Rainbow Hearts Shaped Sprinkles add the perfect little touch.

I had used my electronic die cut machine and the Doodlebug Design Beer-So Much Pun cut file to create my photo props. I am not even a huge beer drinker and I can not get over how darn cute these are! The 6x6 Gingham-Linen and Dot-Stripe Rainbow Petite Prints paper pads were perfect for creating my little beer glass and beer can, don't you think?!
Thank you for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to document your St. Patty's Day festivities with the Lots O' Luck collection!

Sweet Summer | Beach Treat Set with Brigit

The Sweet Summer collection is filled with so many wonderful beachy icons it makes it so easy to put together an adorable summertime project.

Along with the sweet summer paper collection I used some of the svg cut files, you can get these individually or in a set from Lori Whitlock's shop. Most of the paper used is from the 12 x 12 sweet summer collection pack, also used lily white, chocolate chip textured cardstock, bumblebee and maple and gingham-linen petite print.

I used Lori Whitlock's sand pail shaped box file but the shovel and sand are from the sweet summer sand pail svg. The face on the shovel just made the box that much cuter and so did the summer sprinkles used for the cheeks. For the pail handle, I used a border from the punch plaid sheet and tied the shovel around it with some tangerine chunky twine. The boombox and cassettes are from the icon sticker sheet and the speech bubble from the chit chat pack.

I made the shaped card using the sweet summer bikini svg filling in the middle section and adding an outline layer and welding them together. The two little cassettes and music note are from the boom box doodle-pop, glasses, and flower from the icon sticker sheet and speech bubble from the chit chat pack. I think it made such a cute card.

Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day!

Partying It Up : Show 'n' Tell Treat Bags with Melinda

My youngest son has his class 'Show 'n' Tell' roster pinned to my desk calendar so I don't forget when it's his turn. This week the theme is 'Favourite food to make in the kitchen' so he let me know in advance that he wanted to make 'rumballs aka truffles'. The next step was to work out a fun way to package the rumballs and we thought about doing Reindeer noses but one thing led to another and we decided on 'Zoo Poo', much to my son's delight.

Fortunately I still had two full sheets of icon stickers from the 'At the Zoo' collection to use on the front of this sweet little Treat Bag Topper SVG cut file from Lori Whitlock. I made the topper 6" in width which was perfect for snack size zip-lock bags to hold four rumballs for each student.

I also used three different leaf SVG cut files from the Doodlebug 'At The Zoo' collection to create more layers to the front embellishments and give that jungle feel behind each zoo animal.

Just loving the brand new 'Abigail' font stickers that come in all the Doodlebug colours including a gorgeous silver metallic foil.

So, I have made seven bags so far and have seven to go... half way there! I must admit they are fairly quick to make once I worked out the first design and cut out all my leaves and base plates. And believe me, I have one very excited little boy who cannot wait to have his 'Show 'n' Tell'.

Fairy Tales Collection: Cupcake Shaped Mini Album by Traci Penrod

Hi everyone ... It's Traci, and I'm back with my project for the ADORABLE new Fairy Tales collection.  This time, I created a birthday album in the shape of a cupcake using one of Doodlebug's new cut files.  You can find the cupcake in the Silhouette online store, if you use a Silhouette machine, or in Lori Whitlock's SVG shop if you use any other cutting machine.
I cut the front and back covers out of thin chipboard four times.  I adhered the 4 pieces together to make the covers more sturdy.  After cutting and adhering the pattern paper pieces, I adhered limeade chunky twine around the edge.
I had so much fun with the stickers and die cut pieces.  The unicorn is the cutest Doodlebug critter ever!!
I also love the shape sprinkles.  I almost wanted to save that little strawberry, but it looked so cute on top of the ice cream I left it there.  I'll have to get another package so I can get another strawberry, LOL.
I added an adorable treat bag to one of the pages and tucked a photo mat inside.  On the last page I created a little 2x2 flip-up card for photos, and adhered three boutique buttons at the bottom of the page.
This was such a fun mini album to make.  I hope I've inspired you to create a mini album using cutting file shapes ... so many possibilities!  Happy crafting!  Doodlebug products used for this project: 12x12 Fairy Tales pattern paper Limeade Chunky Twine Shape Sprinkles Rainbow Heart Sprinkles 6x6 Fairy Tales Paper Pad Fairy Tales Mini Icon Stickers Fairy Tales Odds & Ends Swimming Pool Treat Bag Doodle Twine Birthday Girl Glitter Sprinkles

Hi there, doodlebug peeps
Anita here sharing a cute couple of cards using the new cut files
I have to say these unicorns are just simply cuteness I absolutely adore them. Remember the Doodlebug cut files are available for all electronic cutting machines...the Silhouette, Cricut, Brother Scan n' Cut, Eclipse and more!!

But when I seen all the bits I needed to cut out I was like wow. So I thought I would add a little photo step by step to show you it's not that daunting to do. Start by cutting all the bits out using your cutter I used the pastel assortment cardstock and coloured all the file bits the same colour as my cardstock

Starting with the grey base of the unicorn
Add the tail a bits and hair and horn at the top

Add more hair then the white base of the unicorn and the last bit of purple hair

Add the black oval over the backside of the head

Than add it over the blank face spot

Add the rest of hair and ear and little pink cheeks
The little hoofs and the heart

Now the little unicorn is ready to decorate a card
I made 2 unicorns for 2 cards they are just the cutest don't ya think !!

These would make a perfect gift card for those little girls birthday parties

I hope I've inspired you to have a play around with theses cute cut files..
