HOMETOWN USA MASCULINE CARDS | with Karen

One of the things that I love about Doodlebug collections is how versatile they really are. While the theme of a collection is always really clear and strong, there are also lots of ways to use bits and pieces for something a little different!

All-three-1

So for today's project, I decided to play around with that idea with the new Hometown USA collection. With Father's Day coming up here in Canada and the US, the masculine colours from this collection seemed like they could be a good fit! And I had so much fun creating those, I threw in a masculine themed birthday card for good measure!

Closeup-1

One of my favourite parts of this new collection are the silver metallic accents. These little die cuts from the Odds and Ends pack are so cute on their own - but add a metallic accent on the legs of the BBQ, the utensils and even on the pop bottle and the card really has a little something special!

And can I just say that the cola theme in this collection is delightful! I think that this card, with the classic vending machine and cooler die cuts, is my favourite of the three. I feel like it is a classic image that could work on Father's Day or birthday cards!

All-three-2

While I think they still have a classic American feel to them, I also think they they really work in this context too! So grab your favourite collection and see what you can do to create a set of cards that is a little bit unexpected! They might become some of your favourite creations ever. Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HOMETOWN USA CARDS | with Karen

Confession time - I am a Canadian. So I do not claim to know anything about the wonderful celebrations I hear about on the 4th of July (but I did spend one 4th of July in Vegas - that was amazing). From what I have seen - family and friends joining for BBQs seems like a big part of the fun! So when the new Hometown USA collection arrived from Doodlebug, I decided to create some cute cards that you could take along for your BBQ hosts!

  All-three-2

Now, I am not sure you could make it to three events in one day, but I wanted to play around with a few ideas. There are so many icons in the adorable Odds and Ends collection, I thought you could really personalize them to the host.

  Embellishments

For the pet lovers - the BBQ where you will leave with as much hair on you as food inside you, I created this little card. It's a mix of all the die cut packs - some Odds and Ends, Bits and Pieces and Chit Chat for all of the embellishments.

  Pin-card

My favourite one is actually this card for the host that is just a little bit "extra". Now I know the card is embellished pretty simply, so it may not be clear where the "extra" is.

  Inside-of-card

But inside, your host will discover that the cute popsicle embellishment is actually a Doodlebug collection enamel pin! Perfect for the BBQ apron!

  All-three-1

And if you are heading to a BBQ with a host that you might not know as well, you cannot go wrong with a traditional Statue of Liberty card! It's a classic that will fit the bill for just about anyone! So, my friends to the south, I hope I have done you proud with these card designs! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

SEASIDE SUMMER BEACH HOUSE CARD | with Wanda

Greetings from the beach - Doodlebug Beach! It's Wanda, back with another fun project made with the new Seaside Summer Collection! Today I made a Beach House card. One of my favorite elements from this collection is the beach houses, so I made them the feature of my card. This finished card is a kraft base, folded into a 5x7 horizontal card. I layered 12x12 Seaside Summer patterned paper, and then a white layer. Then I had a good time adding all those pieces: houses, palm trees, a surfboard and of course a crab having a margarita!!

All the houses were attached to the card with foam tape. I placed the palms behind the houses to frame them. I added a Chit Chat element for my sentiment. I added white gel pen accents onto the die cuts.

The most fun part of this card was adding the different accents! I used Sprinkles in green, the crab is a Doodle Pop, he's holding a margarita from another Sprinkles pack... I added some hearts and the surfboard sticker. It's so fun to customize it and make it your own. I just truly love all these delicious happy colors together.

Cheers to the rest of Summer! We'd better enjoy it because September will be here soon!!

That's it for me today! I don't scrapbook too much so I usually make cards and other projects. However, I think this would make a super cute scrapbook layout across the bottom of a page - all the beach houses all lined up? What do you think? Happy crafting until I see you again soon!

SEASIDE SUMMER STAMPED BOX CARDS | with Kathy

Ok, I know I've said this before, but this time I really mean it.  The new Seaside Summer Collection is my all time favorite Doodlebug Collection!  The colors, the sea critters, the houses and light houses... everything is simply adorable!  I decided to play with the new Seaside Summer and Sea life Doodle Stamps and made a couple of fun box cards.  Take a peek...

My first card uses mostly the Seaside Summer Stamps.  We just purchased a new boat so these stamps were perfect!  The light house, the cute little beach house.. and of course a design team favorite Steven Seagull... all remind me of our marina!

My next card used the new Sea Life Stamps.  I love the sea critters!  And the coordinating Doodle Cuts also come with a bonus seaweed die which is great for scene-making.

That crab... I'm dying.  He's so stinking cute!  Have you made any cards or projects using the new Seaside summer collection?    Make sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook & Instagram, we always love to see what you create.  That's it for me to today, thanks for stopping by to peek.

BAR-B-CUTE EASEL CARDS | with Kathy

Sunshine, lemonade, and picnics are staples of summertime, and the Bar-B-Cute Collection has them all!   It's full of bright fun colors and cute smiling icons.   I decided to take some of my favorites and make a a couple of floating easel cards.  Take a peek...

Who doesn't love a glass of lemonade on a hot day, especially if it has a cute smile!  I used papers from the Bar-B-Cute 6x6 pad, some Odds & Ends and a Chit-Chat sentiment to piece together this card.

Here's a close up... I stole some of my husband's fishing line to make it look like the lemonade pitcher is floating.

For my next card I used more of the 6x6 papers and Odds & Ends.  I also added elements from the Icon Stickers.

I was so excited to see the return of the Paper Frills!  Years ago I had them in every single color... I hoarded them.  But over time, they were all used up and I was very sad!  I used some of the Limeade Paper Frills to make the "grass" on my card.  I also added a cute little ant from the Picnic Parade Shaped Sprinkles.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again... only Doodlebug can make a bug be cute!

Have you used the Bar-B-Cute Collection for a summer project?  Be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook and Instagram, we love to see your creations!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!
