Framed Valentine Banner by Wendy Sue

Hi friends! It's Wendy Sue here again today - and this time I'm sharing one of my favorite projects. I have a collage of frames in the entry of my home - one of the frames is dedicated to handmade decor and I switch it out for different seasons or holidays. Today, I'm sharing the banner I created to showcase in the frame for Valentine's Day.

I used the new Sweethearts collection for my project.

I started by cutting 3x5 blocks from the paper pad.  I notched the bottom of each piece to create the banners.

Next, I cut the patterened paper strip to add to the top of each banner, and wrapped them with washi tape.

After that, I started embellishing each flag with stickers, tickets, jewels, etc.  Each flag is different, but they all coordinate wonderfully because I used pieces from only one collection.

After each flag was complete, I punched holes in the top two corners and connected them all with doodle twine.

Finally, I covered the back of the frame with patterned paper and attached the flags with foam dots - I love the dimension these little foam adhesive dots add.  And I love adding a little bit of Doodlebug love to my entryway to be enjoyed until February 14th!

Unconditional Layout by Shellye McDaniel

by Shellye McDaniel

Who can resist posing with their canine pal?  Shellye here with a special layout of my daughter and our beloved Bear on Christmas Day.  Sydnee couldn't wait to give him his Christmas treat!

I normally love black and white photos (basically because I don't have to worry about clashing colors LOL), but to go along with the Kraft look found in the Sweetheart Collection, I used a sepia tone for this layout.  I am really excited about the addition of the cut-out journal cards;  for the title, I cut one of the cards down to size and then used the Love Letters Stickers to spell it all out!

Doodle Washi Tape is one of my very favorite things and I love seeing them ALL together!  So, I cut a piece of white cardstock to 6" X 9" and applied the various patterns as shown...for extra POP, I added it to the base paper with foam adhesive.  A portion of the Valentine Tickets was used as a little journaling spot.

And I think I speak for all of the Design Team when I say that we were MOST excited about the Paper Doilies!  Here, I cut one in half and tucked it behind the washi tape panel.  A trio of heart stickers were placed to create a visual triangle.  I topped each heart with a small flower sticker adorned with a Sprinkles center :)

I hope that you enjoy the Sweetheart Collection as much as I do!  Enjoy!

Love Notes Valentines Cards by Courtney

Courtney from Court's Crafts here - I have never had so much fun with a Valentine's line! I have SO many more ideas for Sweethearts. I cannot wait to get back in my craft room and play with it some more! I saw these adorable Love Notes and was immediately in love. I thought about hoarding them for days and then I thought I should showcase them and send them to my girls. :) #LoveNoteIssues

Every year I send my bridesmaids valentines.  I am sure they will love these ones! Seven are for my bridesmaids and two are for Emmaline to give to her grandmas.

The background papers are all from the 6x6 paper pad. Aren't the designs scrumptious!?!

Here are some close-ups of the valentines.

This one has a washi tape background! :)

And here they are - my little army of valentines ready to be bring joy to some very special ladies!

I know if you saw the little love notes in person you would fall in love too!

Best part!?! You don't have to wait any longer! It is already shipping now! :)

Have a beautiful day!

Sweethearts Collection: Layouts by Aimee and Candace

Adore You Layout

Hey everyone! Candace here today with a super sweet layout using goodies from the Sweethearts Collection. I did a Valentine's Day photoshoot with my girls last year and I have been hanging onto the pictures, waiting for the perfect scrapbooking goodies to turn them into a layout!

Since my daughter's outfit is black I wanted to add touches of black in my layout. The little bit of black looked great with the colors in this collection - love how it turned out!

I made my own title by using a flag die and some of the black Love Letters cardstock stickers, as well as a pretty red heart jewel.

Some of my favorite embellishments in the Sweethearts Collection are these adorable die cut envelopes and letters!! SO cute! I was so happy with how this layout turned out that it now also functions as Valentine decor in my living room!

YOU'RE SO TWEET LAYOUT
By Aimee Kidd

Hi Doodlebug fans! Aimee Kidd here today with my very first blog post!! So exciting! Another thing I'm excited about is the new Doodlebug Sweetheart collection! Today I have a layout "You're So Tweet" and it's all about my "tweet" girl and all of the valentines she came home with from school last year. Even though she loves getting the valentines from her friends, she loves giving them out more.

A couple of pieces that I HAD to use on this layout was the sweet little ticket and this adorable heart Doodlepop. I can't stand the thought of creating a Doodlebug layout without using at least one Doodlepop.

Other pieces of the collection that are a fun way to jazz up a layout or project are the doilies, washi tape, and  Doodle Twine.

To make all of the red and pink colors pop I used a piece of the new Chevron sugar coated cardstock which is even yummier in person!

Tuesday Tutorial: DIY Paper Doily Flower by Amanda

I love flowers, especially on Valentine's Day.  As I was sorting through the new Sweetheart collection I took out some doilies and started playing around.  I cut and scrunched and spiraled them in all directions.  Before I knew it, I had flowers coming together.

A bunch of paper flowers in a coordinating container makes for a lovely presentation.  Give a bouquet as a gift or set one out as a decoration.

I made a total of 10 flowers for this bouquet.  I alternated four pink and four white flowers around the edge of the bouquet and placed the remaining two pink flowers in the center.  I used a piece of floral foam in the container to keep the flowers in place.

The "vase" is simply an upcycled frosting container wrapped with patterned paper.  I added only a couple of stickers to keep the focus on the words on the patterned paper.

Make your bouquet extra fancy by adding pearl quilters pins to the center of each flower.

These paper flowers are super easy to make.  My 7 y.o. daughter even made one of the white flowers for the bouquet.  I would have had her make more, but she got bored and wanted to go play LEGOs.

For each flower you will need 4 doilies, 1 Pixie straw, and a couple of Glue Dots or other dry adhesive.
  • Gather each doily in the center and scrunch it together, bringing the end to a tight point.
  • Affix a couple of glue dots to the top of the Pixie and adhere the doilies to the top.
  • Wrap the bottom of the flower with washi tape.

These flowers were seriously SO easy to make!  For more ideas on how to use paper crafted flowers, head over to my blog

Have a happy day!
