Swiss Dot Challenge: Sweet and Simple Card Set with Tya

Hello Doodlebug fans - it's Tya and it's my turn to showcase the adorable Swiss Dot pattern papers. These papers are some of my absolute favorites and I have loved all the different ways my Design Team friends have used the papers. I decided to do up a simple card set in some of my favorite colors to show you just how perfect the swiss dot papers are for a basic staple to keep in your scrapbook stash.

I did up 4 cards using some cardstock, and 4 colors of the swiss dot paper. I also added some other Doodlebug staples that I use on all my projects like bakers twine, buttons, Sprinkles and mini doilies. I had a lot of fun playing with all the fun designs and the swiss dot papers add that perfect touch of not being too busy, but adding some interest with the dot pattern. Here are the cards close up:

As you can see in the card below - the papers are a solid color and a white dot on one side, and then white with a colored dot on the other side. So versatile and fun!

That's all there is to them! Sometimes simple really is best, and I love that the adorable Doodlebug products were able to take center stage on these cards. Hopefully I have inspired you to whip up a batch of your own and use your favorite colors! Happy Crafting!!

Swiss Dots Challenge: Reinventing the Wheel by Melinda

Electronic cutting machines have certainly taken the craft industry by storm over recent years but that doesn't mean we can't dust off the old hand held punch to create fun designs on our projects. It just takes a crazy idea to reinvent the wheel, a leaf punch and some seriously cute Swiss Dots paper in dreamy shades of pastel.
Introducing my (dust free) leaf punch and using the bold side of the new Swiss Dots patterned paper I punched a whole pile of leaves in six different shades. Let me just say, I had a desk full of leaves and a very sore hand when finished.
I wanted to have one side of the leaf more prominent than the other so I cut little slits along the edge that would overlap each leaf.
I cut a circle template to use as a guide and began by adhering each leaf starting from the outer most edge and working my way into the middle of the wheel.
At first I thought it was going to take an eternity, however it actually came together quite quickly once I had worked out a system.
I was really pleased with the finished piece and to be honest a little nervous to move onto the next step of embellishing because I had planned on adding some hand stitching and I knew that I couldn't make a mistake as I truly didn't want to redo all that work... my sore hand would never forgive me.
Fortunately everything went smoothly as I added more layers of embellishments finishing with the journaling using Doodlebug rub-ons and a scatter of sprinkles that match the Swiss Dots paper perfectly.

I hope today's post has given you some ideas on using the new Swiss Dots patterned paper and also some inspiration for dusting off your old punches again.
Thanks for stopping by - Melinda

Swiss Dots Challenge: Planner in the Pink by Kimberly Lund

Hello friends! So excited to be here today on the Doodlebug blog today to share my latest planner project with you. This week's project uses the Swiss Dot collection and I'm so happy with the final product.

I chose to work with two shades of pink and a gray for this project. In addition to the swiss dots cardstock, I pulled some stickers from the Kraft in Color line and a few Doodle Pops in coordinating colors.

I always start with adding pattern to my side boxes and chose to alternate a rose pink and a hot pink for this week.

This week I went a little out of my comfort box and added some flowers held to the page by a sugar coated brad.

I created a few paper clips to accessorize using Doodle Pops and mini clothespins.

The last step was to add my journaling at the end of each day. I love having time before I end my day to just write what's on my mind. I fit my journaling around where I've already decorated and when I run out of space, I know I'm done writing.

That's how it looks in my planner. It's always so much fun to see how it looks when it's all done!
