The Graduates: Banners and Cards

We are very excited to be featuring some additional ideas with the new "The Graduates" Collection. First darling banners ideas by Amanda and second some darling cards with short tutorial on a fun washi tape technique.

Graduation Garland
by Amanda Coleman
It's that time of year again!  Amanda here today with a few simple ideas for creating graduation party garlands.  With a few basic scrapbooking supplies and a sewing machine, you can whip up your own party garland in no time.

Using a variety of products from The Graduates collection, I made a few easy garlands that would be perfect for a graduation celebration.

I cut apart the book covers on the Study Hall 12"x12" paper and stitched them together to create a garland.  A book cover garland would be so much fun for a graduation party.

Isn't this paper fantastic?  All cut apart, one page of 12"x12" book cover paper makes a garland that is about 4.5 feet long.  Not too shabby!

I created one strand of garland by trimming the tabs off of the Pixie flags and then stitching them together.  I cut the Pixie circles in half to create the scallop flags.

I used the The Graduates Star Garland all on its own to compliment the the book garland and Pixie garland.  The mini star garland is nearly 5 feet long making it perfect for party decor.

Happy graduation season!

Graduation Cards
End-of-the-school-year greetings, Doodlebug friends...that time of year is quickly approaching!
Graduation announcements will start filling our mailboxes and the scurry to find just the right gift for that special graduate will be upon us.  And for me, I find it a much tougher job when it comes to buying for the guys; it's just easier to hand them a handmade card with money or a gift card tucked inside :)
Today I have a couple of super cute card versions for you.
First we'll start withe the quick and easy one:

I used one of the vertical sides from the Simply Put card and trimmed it down to the
desired size for my A2 card.  Next, I die-cut the Tangerine Sprinkles Vellum with the
postage stamp shape; for stability, I mounted it onto the same sized white cardstock.

The rest was as easy as layering the layers together with foam adhesive and then
decorating the banner portion of the sticker with the year of the graduate.
A little pop of orange was used on the owl's cap and we're done!

Next I have little chevron washi tape tutorial for you to make this card:
Gather up your supplies: various washi tapes...even if you only have a
couple of colors on hand, that will work fine!  Also, a piece of cardstock cut to the
size that you need;  I've used white.

First, draw a vertical line with a pencil.  You may decide to do this down the middle
of the paper, or over to the side as I have done here.  Add a strip of washi tape just
passed the line and wrap the excess around the back of the paper.

If the washi tape has a light enough background, you will be able to use this next tip:
Press the tape over the pencil marking and rub with your finger.  Lift the tape and you
will notice a faint line on the back.  Cut on the outside of the line and then press
back into place.

Continue until the piece of cardstock has been completely covered.
Corner round the bottom edges if desired.

I added a strip of matching cardstock (that I used for the bottom mat) across
the section where the washi tapes meet.  A couple of Pixie Sticks were cut to size
and adhered with Zip-Dry glue.  I had a guy in mind for this card, so I kept the rest
of the design fairly simple and frou-frouless!

That's a wrap for my Graduate themed cards!  I hope you enjoyed- Shellye

The Graduates: Gift Card & Money Holders, Circle Cards and More

Show me the Money! Gift Card & Money Holders
by Tya Smith
Hello everyone! As the school year is winding down, our graduates are getting ready to get their diplomas and make their way into the real world- What better way to show your love and support for all their hard work than by giving them a little cash! Today I wanted to share with you a gift card and money holder that I cut out with my Silhouette and used the super darling The Graduates line for the paper and embellishments for these fun paper crafts.

First up is this darling 3d Box that holds a gift card. The star papers were one of my favorites to use and the golden owl - how fun is he with his little glasses! Add a pop of gold sugar coated cardstock and you have an eye catching gift card holder they will love!
I used this Silhouette cut file for this box: 3d Graduation Box with inserts

I really fell in love with this money holder! I comes like a little booklet with 4 money envelopes that you add into the center. I added a little bit of the Graduation Mini Garland on the end of the cover for a little sparkle!
I used this Silhouette cut file for this project: 3D Book of Money

Thanks for stopping by and checking out this fun set of money and gift card holders! I love using my electronic die cutting machine to make fun gifts for my loved ones! Give these a try - I know who ever gets them will love them!

The Graduates: Inspiration for the Young Graduate Layouts

Pre-School Grad Layout
by Wendy Sue Anderson

Hi Doodlebug Buddies!  It's Wendy Sue here today, and I'm sharing one of my latest layouts, featuring "The Graduates" collection.
I love the neutral colors of this collection - just perfect for adding a pop of color...like school colors!  My son's preschool didn't have official colors, but since he was wearing a cute orange shirt, that's what I was inspired by.
I pulled out a bunch of orange papers and elements from various Doodlebug collections and went to town (the Halloween themed sets were perfect...orange AND stars)!
My favorite thing about ALL Doodlebug collections is how easy they are to mix & match.  The awesome circle button with the star inlay I used was from an older collection, Boys Only
Doodle-pops are a great way to add a bit of dimension to any page...but don't feel limited to the doodle-pops - simply add foam adhesive behind any of the awesome stickers and you have a faux doodle-pop ready to add anywhere!
This collection is perfect for ANY type of graduation - but don't forget that it would work great for lots of different types of celebrations...birthdays, retirement, and so much more!

Little Miss Smarty Pants Layout
by Jodi Wilton

Hi everyone!  Jodi here today to share with you a layout I made with the new collection: The Graduates!  My first thought on this collection is, its versatility! I do not have any graduating photos (At least none that I could find), so I thought it would be cute to play up the cute owls in this collection! My oldest daughter is a super smarty, and for the last three years, has had the highest academic achievement in each of the three years (I know, super proud mommy!). So why not document this amazing achievement by using this cute collection!  Here is the layout I created:

One of my favorite things in this collection is the GOLD! It is so trendy right now, and Doodlebug Design knocked it out of the park with  the hints of gold that you can add to really spruce up your crafting projects.  I was inspired by the Stars Sprinkles! Yes these little stars even have a hint of glitter in them and they are adorable! I  decided to use most of these as well as some punched out stars from the Gold Sugar Coated Cardstock.  I added some of the new washi tape around the border too for extra interest!

I then started to layer my layout by starting with some patterned paper and then used a Simply Put card layered with some Icon Stickers.

I also added some Speech bubble stickers, that went along with the theme of the layout by using the Cap & Gown Stickers. For my title, I decided to stick with the star theme, add more of the Star Sprinkles!

Kindergarten Graduate Layout
by Aimee Kidd

It's that time of year my crafty friends....Graduation time! I know you all are just LOVING the new "The Graduates" collection!  Aimee here to day to share my Kindergarten Graduate layout with you.

My sweet baby girl graduated from Kindergarten last year and I have held on to this picture just waiting for the perfect line to scrap it. And guess what......Doodlebug came out with this wonderful black, white, and gold graduate line that was perfect and now it is scrapped!  I wanted to keep my design fairly simple so the picture and the embellishments were the highlight of the layout.

Here are some close ups for you.....

Here you can see how I scattered different embellishments around such as the sequins, star sprinkles, cardstock stickers, and the round sprinkles.

I added a piece of the star banner to the tops of the pixie toppers and used some of the new chevron sprinkles to draw the attention to the picture of my sweet little graduate.

For the top of the layout, I added this banner with an owl that I popped up using pop dots. Then to finish it off I added more sequins and sprinkles.

Thanks for visiting! Be sure to stop back by tomorrow for some more wonderful inspiration using the fabulous "The Graduates" collection!!

The Graduates: Dream Layout + Congratulations Card

Hello Doodlebugs!  It's Mendi here today sharing some graduation projects I created with Doodlebug's newest collection, The Graduates!  I adore how versatile this collection is and by being monochromatic you can tailor it to match so many different school colors. First up I have a layout I created documenting my little sister's high school graduation.  I had a lot of fun personalizing the little caps from the Mini Diplomas & Caps set by adding a brad and some solid colored embroidery floss.
Like most of the team I am also captivated by Doodlebug's newest product, star sprinkles!  I decided to incorporate them into my star border and I love how they look!
I decided while I had my supplies handy I would whip up a quick card (and I mean quick).  I'll admit I'm not usually a very fast paper crafter, but I think I actually created this in less than 10 minutes!  I made this for my same little sister who will soon be graduating from Oregon State with her black and orange school colors.  I love the personality little wiggle eyes add to the owl stickers!
I hope I've inspired you to play with this fun new collection!

The Graduates: Kinder Grad Layout

It's that time of year again!! Graduations! Candace from Scrappin' 2 Little Princesses here and in my household we're getting reading for Preschool and Kindergarten grads. I am so in love with the colors of the new collection The Graduates

Gold is my favorite right now and I instantly fell in love with these super cute little gold owls.

Since there is so many great patterned papers in this collection I knew I wanted to use some dies to make a pattern on my layout. The gold glitter paper is gorgeous!

I also added some of the new to DIE for glitter sprinkles. These are such a MUST have!! They come in the circles as well as stars and arrows!

I used some foam stickers under my owl to make sure he stood out on top of his books, next to my photo. I also love adding little details, such as sprinkles, to my stickers to make them even more amazing.

This collection was so fun to play with! I hope my layout has inspired you today!

The Graduates: Pop-up Grad Card

Hi, it's Courtney Lee here from Court's Crafts.

I just want to take a minute to say that we SOOOO appreciate it when you all leave comments for our projects! I stop back by here to see the comments that you have left for me and it is so incredibly encouraging! THANK YOU!

Okay, back to our scheduled programming. ;) The Graduates... This line is so much fun! As you will see from my DTmates' projects, this line was built so that you could add your school colors and it would still look fabulous! Since I didn't know who this card was intended for I kept it neutral.

Do you see that sparkle!?! Also, please notice how cleanly the sprinkles card stock cuts... gorgeous, right!?!

I replaced the deedledee that was made for this with this graduation cap doodle-pop. I have a confession: I am a doodle-pop hoarder. My personal resolution is that if I love a crafty supply, I will use it!!! I am using my doodle-pops and having so much fun doing so! They make any project pop! (pun intended)

Is that a pixie?!? Yes, yes it is. Texture - I love adding texture right now. I cut it down to size. And those gold sequins.. mmmmm... scrumptious.

I needed a sentiment I felt so I grabbed this one off of the fancy frills! Don't forget to check those "border sticker" sheets for sentiments. They often have awesome ones! :)

 Side view!

Make sure to check out what the rest of the DT has made for your inspirational pleasure! They are incredibly talented and... pay attention to how you can win this fabulous line! :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day!
