TINSEL TIME CHRISTMAS CARDS | with Guest Designer Mary-Ann Maldonado

Hey everyone! I am here with my second guest spot for Doodlebug, and I am super excited to share my creations today. I made four super easy, colorful, and fun cards. I am titling this post, Pete and Repeat! I remember that game as a kid in the 70's and 80's! If you are not as old as me, it is a game where you pester those around you. Anything they say or do, you repeat it. It was quite fun and annoying at the same time! Today, I am sticking with the repeat theme. A little less annoying than the actual game!

Can you tell why I titled this Repeat? Each of these cards has a repetitive pattern. With the Tinsel Town Collection, you get many fun pieces in the Odds & Ends Pack. I separated the package into like items and then decided which cards to make. If I hadn't stopped myself, I could have created about 20 more cards, just as easily!

I like dimension, so I use a lot of foam tape and foam squares. All of these cards can be created without using foam. They would be flatter and easier to mail. But I am addicted! This Doodle Pop screamed at me! I had to use it. I used the puffy candy canes to make a repeat pattern in the back. Then, placed the Doodle Pop on top of the sticker that was the same thing! Easy-peasy! The next card was pretty much the same process but with the silver stars.

Take a look at the bottle brush ephemera pieces. I lined them up like a forest and had another quick card. Once I added the mini jewels to the existing ornaments, it was done!

For my last card, I used the Tinsel Town Acetate as my card base. It really is spectacular! For this one, I grabbed out all the tree and ornament boxes. Layered them around the center of the card and used foam for a bit of dimension. I used almost all of the Odds & Ends pieces that decorate a tree! Again, repeating a pattern to produce lots of easy, beautiful cards.

So, you have a choice to make! Play the Pete and Repeat game with your kids (which may backfire), or play it when creating your next batch of cards! I bet I know what you choose. Thank you so much for hanging out with me these last two weeks. I have really had a great time designing with such a fun collection.

TINSEL TIME HOLIDAY CARDS | with Karen

It's time for tinsel! Bring on the glitter and the sparkle - I am ready for it! And clearly, so is Doodlebug because the new Tinsel Time collection is everything you can imagine it would be and more!

Full-cards-set-1

For my first project, I decided to create some Christmas cards. This season is one of my favourites as a card maker because I feel like I have an excuse to sit down for an afternoon and just make cards! I don't really need an excuse, but it's nice to have one!

Closeup-1

I was particularly drawn towards the shapes in the Bits & Pieces pack so I wanted to feature those on this set of cards. They are wonderful combinations of Christmas themed flowers and evergreens and they are absolutely lovely for layering.

Closeup-2

Oh, and can we talk about the Cards & Envelopes set that coordinates with this collection. It is a wonderful collection of shapes and colours that make creating cards a breeze. And this silver textured envelope is the things that dreams are made of. This picture does not so it justice at all!

Closseup-3

And given that this collection is all about the tinsel, it seemed fitting to embellish with some of the glitter sprinkles that also coordinate. The subtle green and pink sparkles bring all the colours together.

Full-Card-set-2

Well, this may be my first card set of the season but it sure won't be my last. We can't wait to see all the fun Christmas cards that come off of you crafty tables this Christmas season! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

FARMHOUSE THANK YOU CARDS | with Karen

Last week, I got to share my love of card making and my love of all things Doodlebug with my colleagues at work. I grabbed Doodlebug goodies and hosted a morning of gratitude card creation in this beautiful retreat centre that was once a convent. It was everything you might imagine - quiet and peaceful and comforting. And Doodlebug's new Farmhouse collection was the perfect collection to use!

All-3-1

It is no secret that I love bright and bold colours. Hand me a stack of jewel toned paper and I am crafty heaven. But this collection speaks to me in a different way - the colours are like a breath of fresh air and I absolutely love it. In fact, I think I need to redecorate my home to match it!

But for now, I settled for making this set of cards with my colleagues - using combination of the 12x12 papers with the 6x6 papers to mix and match some of the patterned paper at different scales.

  Closeup-1

The Bits and Pieces and Odds and Ends die cuts make the perfect layering pieces to coordinate with the sentiments that I chose. A few mini jewels added a bit of sparkle.

Closeup-2

And the chicken? Well the chicken was the icon I chose that made me think of one of my daughters - the inspiration for one of the the three gratitude cards. Does a chicken make sense on a thank-you card? I'm not sure. But somehow, I am also certain that it does! And the Hen & Chicks paper may now be one of my favourite Doodlebug prints ever!

All-3-2

Sharing this collection and all the goodies with my colleagues brought me so much joy. Watching them create and seeing the pride in their faces as they shared the special people they were creating for was wonderful - husbands for wives, a mom in another province, a son...it was joyful. Crafting is special and this collection makes is easy and beautiful. Thank-you Doodlebug for sharing your gift with us so we can share it with others! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HEY PUMPKIN DOODLE POP CARDS | with Karen

Today, as I was looking through my new Doodlebug Hello Pumpkin collection for some inspiration, I came across the Doodle Pops! And boy, oh boy, are they a treat (pun not intended). So, I decided I would feature 3 of my favourites on this set of cards - because after all, Halloween is all about the treats!

All-three-1

So I grabbed a set of card bases from the Cards & Envelopes set that coordinates with the collection and got to work - layering paper with some die cuts from the Bits & Pieces pack and a couple of sentiments from the Chit Chat pack.

Cat-closeup

The glorious part about the Doodle Pops, besides the adorable shapes and characters, is the tremendous dimension these cute stickers bring to any project. Layer upon layer of goodness really does pop on any project you add them to. For this card, I also added some foam adhesive to the die cuts I used around the Doodle Pop just to make sure that they blended in on the design of the card.

Cupcake-closeup

On this card design, the Doodle Pop was perfect for the center of the card - a cut out that looks a bit like a frame.

ghost-closeup

And for this cutie - well I wanted the whole focus to be on him and his adorable, shiny glasses so I added him right to the top layer. Because let's be real - he steals the show anyway!

All-three-2

I love this collection. I mean, I really love it. In fact, I love it so much that I am so sad that this is the last project I get to feature here with it. The good news is that many of the team members have more to share with you over the next couple of weeks so if you are anything like me, stay tuned for so much more fun with Hello Pumpkin!

And since I won't chat with you before Halloween - have a wonderful one in any way that you chose to celebrate! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

HEY PUMPKIN SIX HALLOWEEN CARDS | with Tya

Spooky season is here and I've been having a blast creating with the oh-so-adorable "Hey Pumpkin" collection! With Halloween being just around the corner, I couldn't resist making six frightfully cute cards that are full of tricks, treats, and a whole lot of charm! Let's take a look at them, shall we?

I used the amazing Cards and Envelopes kit that matches the collection for my card bases. Six bases and envelopes are included and they make the card-making process as quick as can be! And how fun are all the different shapes of cards? This is one of my favorite things about these kits!

This card features a fun orange bracket-shaped base that sets the perfect backdrop for a Halloween treat explosion! The center is packed with colorful die-cut candy and goodies from the Odds and Ends. To add a little shine, I scattered a few enamel dots from the Shape Sprinkles across the card giving it a sweet finishing touch.

This card is all about fun and whimsy with its file folder-shaped base! At the center, a large die cut from the Bits and Pieces Ephemera pack featuring adorable ghosts, pumpkins, kitties, bats, and a spooky gate creates a stunning focal point! The yellow star paper from the 6x6 paper pad adds a bright, cheerful touch with a sprinkle of stars from the October Sky Shape Sprinkles. This card sparkles with Halloween magic!

This large card makes a bold statement with a beautiful "October 31st" Chit Chat die cut as its focal point. Along the bottom, a delightful row of yummy candies, also from the Chit Chat, adds a playful touch. The background features a fun mix of stars and stripe pattern papers, creating the perfect backdrop for the cute accents. A perfect balance of spooky and sweet!

This card bursts with Halloween spirit! It features bright pink and green paper backgrounds that instantly grab your attention! In the center, a spooky yet fun Haunted House takes the spotlight, with a cute little ghost peeking out, holding his trick-or-treat bag. The playful "Let's Party" speech bubble from the This and That sticker sheet makes this card a perfect invite for a hauntingly good time!

This card features a playful pink polka dot paper that is from the Pumpkin Patch Plaid cut-apart paper. I added a stitched circle made from white card stock as my background covering the sentiment on the card. At the center, a festive little truck steals the show- a die cut from the Odds and Ends. Those little friends are ready for some Halloween fun! The Happy Halloween banner along the bottom from the Chit Chat ties the card all together.

Our last card is a treat for the eyes, featuring 4 yummy cupcake die cuts from the Odds and Ends, topped with colorful sprinkles and candies from the Puffy Stickers. The pink scalloped card base adds a sweet, playful touch. The "You're so Sweet" banner sentiment perfectly ties everything together, making this card an adorable and deliciously sweet creation!

I had so much fun putting together these six cards. Each card was a joy to create, and I hope I have sparked some Halloween inspiration for your own crafty projects. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today - until next time, Happy Crafting!

HEY PUMPKIN ACETATE HALLOWEEN CARDS | with Kathy

I can't believe we are already halfway through October!  It's time to get those Halloween Cards made!  I put together a couple of fun cards using the Hey Pumpkin Collection along with the Homespun and Clear Heavy weight Acetate.  Take a peek...

These cards were so fun to make.  I started with a standard 4.25" x 5.5" (A2) card base.  I cut the front of each card so that only one inch folded over.  I then attached a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of acetate to the front of the card.  I love the "window" affect it makes!

For this first card I used the Homespun Acetate.  I thought it was a cute addition with all the little spiders from the Halloween Night Shaped Sprinkles.

On the front of the card I added one of the spiders hanging from a piece of Doodle Twine.

Inside the card I inked the background with some distress inks, added a spider web from the Hey Pumpkin Spider Web SVG.  I added another hanging spider and a couple of friends!  My sentiment was created with some Beetle Black Alphabet Soup Puffy Stickers.

For my next card I used some Clear Heavy weight Acetate and the Good Spirits Doodle Cuts.  I inked my background and stenciled some clouds.

On the front of my card I added some grass cut from the coordinating Textured cardstock pack, along with the pumpkin and gates from the Doodle Cuts.  Of course I added another spider!

Inside the card I added more shaped sprinkles and the tree and ghost from the Doodle Cuts.  The sentiment is from the Hey Pumpkin Doodle Cuts.

If you've made any projects using the Hey Pumpkin collection, please be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on social media.  We love to see your projects!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

HEY PUMPKIN HALLOWEEN WHIMSY CARDS | with Guest Designer Jenn Shurkus

Hey Everyone I’m back! Jenn Shurkus here from Creative Chick Co.  and a self-proclaimed Doodlebug Addict. I love everything they release and was so excited to be invited to guest design. I have another two cards to share with you where I had a lot of fun mixing a bunch of products from the new Hey Pumpkin release!

I started by stamping out the cat in a pumpkin tote image and the ghost from the Hey Pumpkin Doodle Stamps and coloring them in with Copic markers which are alcohol-based markers (sharing below the specific markers I used). I die-cut it out with the coordinating Doodle Cuts.

For the first card, I started by water coloring a purple background using Distress Watercolor Pencils, and Distress Watercolor Cardstock. I dried this background, and then trimmed this it down to 4” x 5.25”.  I matted it onto a piece of patterned paper from the Hey Pumpkin 6x6 paper pad.

For the sentiments, I chose a few speech bubble die-cuts from the Hey Pumpkin Chit Chat Ephemera Pack. I also white embossed “Happy” from the Hey Pumpkin stamp set onto black cardstock. Whenever I do ANY embossing, I prep the surface using the Cottontail Embossing Powder Tool. I also like to use a white pigment ink when I am embossing with white embossing powder.

Next, I die-cut the “Halloween” word included in the Hey Pumpkin coordinating Doodle Cuts several times out of black cardstock, and once out of black sparkle cardstock. I adhered them stacked together with wet glue.

I added some Prisma Glitter to the highlights of the pumpkin with a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. I also added some Sakura Black Glaze Pen to the eyes of the cat, and the eyes and mouth to the pumpkin.

I added the sentiments, pumpkin and speech bubbles to the card with black foam squares. I then sprinkled a few stars I cut out with the Hey Pumpkin Doodle Cuts out of black sparkle cardstock. Lastly, I added a puffy bat from the Puffy Icons Sticker sheet.

For the second card I trimmed down the Homespun 12x12 Acetate sheet to 4.25” x 5.5”. I also die-cut a stitched frame out of black sparkle cardstock. I used wet adhesive to adhere the frame to the front of the acetate panel.

I then ink blended a background onto a piece of Distress White Heavystock with the following Distress Inks: Mustard Seed, Festive Berries, Wilted Violet. Next, I splattered some stars” with Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette.

I flipped the framed acetate panel over, and added 2 layers of foam strips around all four sides. I then sprinkled some Hey Pumpkin Halloween Night Shakers into the space. I also added some iridescent sequins. I then peeled the backer paper off the foam strips and adhered the ink blended background to them creating a shaker front.

I added some Prisma Glitter to the highlights on the ghost, and “BOO” banner with a Sakura Quickie Glue Pen. I added some Sakura Black Glaze Pen to the heart and star in the speech bubbles.

I chose a sentiment banner and some speech bubbles out of the Hey Pumpkin Chit Chat Ephemera Pack.

I added the sentiment banner to the card front with wet glue. I added the ghost and speech bubbles with black foam squares.

I sprinkled some candy stickers from the Puffy Icons Sticker sheet, and some stars from the October Sky Shape Sprinkles. Lastly I added some glossy accents to the glasses on the ghost.

I am sharing the swatches of the Copic colors I used to color the images above so you can easily recreate them with the coloring medium you choose.  If you would like to learn more about coloring with Copic markers or alcohol-based markers, be sure to check out my Copic 101 online class, which includes a workbook!

If these cards have inspired you to create with your Doodlebug Halloween stash I would love to see what you create! Be sure to tag me on social media!
