Hi there Doodlebug friends! It's
Wendy Sue here today, sharing a fun little Christmas project (and NO, it's never too early to start working on Christmas projects!).
Today I'm sharing the countdown calendar I created for our family. I used a photo "flip" display I had in my storage room. I love using odds and ends I have lying around (plus it makes it easy to justify purchasing random items when I spy them on sale!) Here's a peek at the countdown.
Of course, before it's all put together, nice and neat, in the flip album, you'll have to make the individual cards. I used the brand new "North Pole" collection for my project.
To start, I simply removed twelve sheets from the 6x6 pad. I cut a 2" strip from each piece, flipped it over, and mounted it on the bottom of the larger piece.
I tied bakers twine right over the seam on each page.
Next, I punched some circle shapes and layered them together.
I cut the numbers with my Silhouette Camoe and placed them on the circles.
I printed a list of holiday related activities and cut them out into strips.
After I had all of those pieces attached, I felt like I wanted to embellish each page just a little more, so I added some different stickers, doodle-pops, and jewels.

After I was happy with all of the cards, I slid them into the little protector sleeves - and that was it!
My plan is to take photos of each activity and slide them directly behind each countdown card - that way, we'll have a fun "scrapbook" to look at next year!
And if all goes well, we'll just use the same count-down calendar for several years and add new photos each year.
It will be fun to look back and see the same activity documented year after year!
Now I'm ready to count down the 12 days of Christmas with my kids...it's nice to have something already checked off my holiday to-do list.
Happy Holidays!!!
Ho Ho Ho!
