GHOST TOWN STEP CARD | with Kathy

Halloween is tomorrow!  Do you have your costume ready?  How about the candy?  I may have eaten some of mine and had to make another trip to the store for more!!  I also made one more card using the adorable Ghost Town collection!  Take a peek...

I love the Odds & Ends pieces.  They make it so easy to create little scenes for cards and layouts!  For this card, I started with a step card base.   If you've never done a step card it's easy!  I did a tutorial for a Doodlebug Christmas version here if you need.  Once I had the base cut, I started putting together my little scene...  I used a number of the Odds & Ends pieces and stickers from the Icons sheet to create it.  The trick or treat word bubble is from the This & That Sheet.  It all went together very quickly and it folds flat for mailing!

If you use the Ghost Town Collection for any of your cards, layouts or projects, be sure to tag Doodlebug Design on Facebook or Instagram so we can see what you created!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

GHOST TOWN PUMPKIN KING LAYOUT | with Erica

Hey friends! Erica here with you today sharing my very first layout using the new Ghost Town collection from Doodlebug Design.

I really wanted to create a layout and document little Liam's new best friend Jack. I created a cut file in Silhouette Design just by typing out the word Jack. I then welded the letters together and made them larger so they were a big statement piece on my page. Next I created an offset and then grouped everything together.

I really wanted to keep this layout simple and only use black, white and orange. I picked out some papers from the Ghost Town 6x6 paper pad and backed the cut file piece I created in Silhouette. I really love the black and white pattern paper and think it is the perfect match for Liam's Jack Skellington.

Liam was so excited for his new Jack and he takes him everywhere! I printed a couple photos out in black and white and they are sized about 4x4. I matted them on a couple pieces of pattern paper from the Ghost Town collection.

I wanted to create sub title to the layout so I used the Sunshine Alpha in Beetle Black to spell out The Pumpkin King. I used one of the super cute Ghost Town doodle pops under the title and then added my typed journaling block.

To finish off the layout I added a cute scallop border sticker from the 12x12 Ghost Town sticker sheet and a strip of black and white stripe pattern paper to the left side of the layout. Thanks so much for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed my layout. Sometimes it is nice to keep it simple and I just love how the black pops on this page. Have a great day!

GHOST TOWN "BOO'D" BAG | with Shellye

You've been boo'd!  What a fun way to share surprising little gifts with neighbors and friends this Halloween!  The concept is quite simple: fill up a bag, basket or box with treats and a message that they've "been boo'd"...in turn, they pay it forward by boo'ing someone else.

For my box, I've upcycled a cereal box and incorporated pieces from the "Ghost Town" Collection:

To start, I began by cutting a cereal box in half (it's easiest if you disassemble the box, cut and glue).

The box then measures 7.5X2.5X5.5. I covered the half-box with patterned paper before re-gluing.

The front was decorated with the "BOO" cut-apart cards, Doodle Pops and letter stickers.  I also added paper handles to the sides.

To the inside of the basket, I tucked a little premade notebook that I covered with strips of washi tape and added a Jelly Clip to the top!  Next, I used one of the larger Create-A-Card envelopes and added paper treats inside :)  The outside was decorated with one of the sweet die-cut houses, sticker letters and held together at the top with two mini clothes pins.

I wanted something to hold small bars of chocolate, so I die-cut a pillow box from patterned paper, wrapped it in ribbon and made a cute tag!

Finally is a package of handmade bows!  I made these using two of the Doodle Cuts Mini Tags and a large brad:

From the set of little dies, you could actually create an array of different sizes and shapes.  For these particular bows, I folded the rectangular tags in half and glued. I lined up all four of the tags (for one bow) by matching up the tabbed holes and then inserted a large brad through to hold them all together!  I left the tails so that they could be positioned out horizontally or folded down.

I used one of the 4X6 cards as a base for attaching the bows. By using a repositionable glue dot, the bows won't slide around and can easily be removed. The sheet of bows was placed inside a cellophane bag and topped with a fun bag topper!  I make my bag toppers by simply folding a piece of paper in half and stapling to the top.

Now that the bag has been filled, I can add a typed note of instructions (found on Pinterest) for how the recipient can boo the next person! What great fun...I hope you'll try it!

GHOST TOWN TAG MINI | with Tegan

Hello Doodlebug friends, who else is excited that Halloween is right around the corner!? I couldn't wait to craft with the adorable new Ghost Town collection and I  had so much fun creating this little mini album.

I painted a small chipboard album I had on hand with acrylic paints, but if you don't have a chipboard album you could easily make your own. I embellished the cover with a Ghost Town Chit Chat die cut word and the adorable ghostly Little Boo Doodlepop. I then added some long strands of Doodlebug Design Chunky Twine for fun.

I documented photos from the whole month of October. Here I have a photo of my new favorite October treat - a yummy Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew! I used the 6 x 6 paper pad to make backgrounds for all of my pages. I embellished this first page with the This & That Sticker Sheet, the Halloween Night Shape Sprinkles, and the Spider Celebration Shape Sprinkles.

Sometimes all you need is a couple cute Odds & Ends die cut pieces and a couple stickers to make a cute filler page!

The Ghost Town collection was also good for documenting our trip to pumpkin patch. How cute is that little die cut that says Pumpkins?!

Here I used the This & That Sticker Sheet, Odds & Ends die cuts, and Shape Sprinkles on this page.

The Odds & Ends Die Cut packs are always some of my favorite Doodlebug Design embellishments! What are your favorite Doodlebug embellies?! And did you see the cute little gray mouse hanging out under the tree?

Thanks for joining me today! I hope I have inspired you to grab some of the adorable Ghost Town collection for your next project!

GHOST TOWN TREAT HOLDERS | with Karen

A number of years ago, Doodlebug made me a Halloween crafting convert! I wasn't much for the spooky and scary, but colourful and cute?! Now we are talking! So each year, when I get ready for Halloween , I grab my Doodlebug goodies and I smile. It has actually become one of my favourite times of the year to craft!

And this year, with the introduction of Ghost Town, I have been crafting up a storm. The candy theme in this collection is, well, sweet! So I couldn't resist whipping up some candy-themed treat containers to help bring a bit of fun back into what will be a bit of a different celebration is my house this year!

Topped off with some adorable stamps from the adorable coordinating Ghost Town stamp set , these little containers pack some serious cuteness!

And backed by some fun embellishments from the Chit Chat die cuts and one fabulous glitter brad to keep it all in place, the containers are layers of Doodlebug fun!

And guess what, there are so easy to make! No special tools required! Really. Don't believe me, let's take a look:

Start with squares cut to 6x6". I used the 12x12 paper for this, but you can use papers from the 6x6" stack too (I just liked the size of the prints on the 12x12 for this particular project).

Now let me warn you - those of you that are very particular in your crafting, just take my measurements and off you go with your scoring boards. My lack of precise measuring and folding may be totally "scary" to you! But I wanted to show you that you really don't need any fancy tools - just something to push down those folds - so that this could be a project accessible to all - even kids! And not only that, it is so fast, you won't believe how quickly these come together. So with that warning in mind, let's keep going:

Fold your paper "almost" in half, leaving about 1/4" exposed at the top.

Now simply fold that 1/4" extra edge in. Use your nail or a bone folder if you have one to really push down that fold. Add so glue to the little 1/4" flap you have created.

Glue the other side down onto the tab and you have made a little tube (sort of).

Now take the "tube" and fold it in half again. Now, Doodlebug paper is really wonderfully thick so you won't get a tight fold here. That's okay. Just push it down again and you are good to go!

Now for you precise crafters, if you are still with me, this next step will drive you crazy. But it works. I promise. And remember, if you have a scoring board, you already know how to modify this project to use it, so go ahead and do that. But for everyone else, we are just going to fold up each end of the "tube" about 1" or so. Try to keep it close to 1" but it doesn't have to be exact. Again, the paper will be really thick but it will be okay. And it doesn't matter if the top edge stays lined up. None of mine did and the project still turned out great!

With a really good pair of scissors, go in about 1/2" on the folded edge and cut outward to the end of the tube. If you are working with kids, you might need to do this step because of the thickness of the paper. Repeat on the other side so you have a trapezoid.

Open up the fold. Starting on the outside edges of the top of the tube, cut inwards to about the middle from both sides.

Repeat on the other end of the tube. You will end up with a shape like you see above. Now here is where the magic happens:

Open up all of the folds so that you have a bit of a rectangular prism. Grab some Doodle Twine and cut two pieces about 4" or so each.

At the narrowest parts of both ends of the tube, tie your twine. Now stay with me. I totally doubted this would work. But then I pulled GENTLY and....

....VOILA! It pops right together and looks just like a little candy container!

Tie up the other side with the second piece of twine and you end up with the cutest (and easiest) treat container ever!

Now just a heads up, to keep the integrity of the box, you will end up with a gap at each end of the container. If you are putting mini chocolate bars in there, this gap will not be a problem. But I wanted to fill mine with small chocolate candies. So I simply wrapped the candies in some tissue paper first, twisting the ends, and then sealed everything up. Problem solved! And I actually loved the extra texture and look of the tissue paper sticking out of each end of the container in the finished project!

Now go ahead and make them in all the patterned papers you love. Because you will want to! Trust me! Top them off with some stamps and/or the cute coordinating die cuts in the Odds and Ends and Chit Chat packs and you are all set!

Oh, and how cute would these look as a centerpieces stacked up on a cake plate (which I thought of after I took these pictures, of course)! you may have hard time giving them away!  So no matter what your Halloween is looking like this year, these will have you smiling! I hope you have fun making them.

Thanks for stopping by!
