SIMPLY SPRING HAPPY MAIL | with Nathalie

Did you know that April is National Letter Writing Month? Now more than ever, I believe sending (and receiving!) something in the mail can help us all feel more connected. Using mostly the Simply Spring collection, I am sharing a few things you can create to accompany a letter/note.

In a large homemade vellum envelope, I have included a small note decorated with a Doodle-pop, a couple flower Cute Clips, a sunny Doodle-pop with an embellished topper, a little pocket filled with goodies and two shaker tags/bookmarks. I wrapped everything with twine and made a tag out of a truck die-cut adding an enamel frog at the window and a sentiment with my new All Occasion stamps on top.

Here is a short video on how to make this little flat mail pocket. Once done, all you have to do is fill it up with goodies!

Next, I created a couple of shaker banner tags/bookmarks with page protector scraps that I cut, fused and filled with die-cuts, sequins and glitter. I also added word stickers and shape sprinkles on top and, ribbon in the corner.

You can find the link (by Inkie Quill) that inspired me: HERE

Finally, here is a look at the entire package as I open it:

I hope that you now feel the urge to create something extra special to send to a friend or family member. Grab your Doodlebug favorites and make something to brighten their day!

I ❤️ Travel Happy Mail + Video | with Nathalie

Hello I am back today to share another example of happy mail that could brighten someone's day. I grabbed the awesome I❤️Travel collection because I wanted to place all my goodies into a suitcase and develop my inserts on that theme.
I first created the suitcase itself by following this tutorial on You Tube, with a few variations (like the buckles that I hand cut). But the most fun was making the goodies that I was sending in it including the smallest pocket letter ever!
I started with a little booklet in which I put the cut apart postcards from the 12x12 Wish You Were Here paper. I also hand cut and strung several mini banners placing them into a small package I made for them. Finally, my favorite, I created a miniature pocket letter that fits perfectly into the suitcase.
It barely measures 3x4 inches and I will show you how you can create one too.
You will need a pocket page protector with a 3x4 pocket that you can cut. I had a leftover piece that worked perfectly. You can then cut little "cards" measuring 3/4"x1 1/8"to place in it. The next step is to design your pocket letter, first on top on the pocket, so you will know what will go inside and what will be adhered on top.
I used a mix of Mini Icons stickers, Doodle pop, Sprinkles, paper, twine and sequins. You first have to start with the bottom row which you will seal with a fuse tool. If you do not have one, you can also use a sewing machine.
The next step is to fuse the vertical lines before doing the last horizontal one. Spread things evenly before sealing and be careful not to shift things too much as you do.
To finish, decorate the top of the tiny pockets. You can add a little twine tassel if you'd like.
Isn't this the tiniest pocket letter you have ever seen?

LOVE NOTES HAPPY MAIL | with Nathalie

Hello Doodlebug friends! I am back today with another happy mail project created with the Love Notes collection. Even though Valentine's Day is long gone, I still find many uses for this favorite collection. This cute little package is perfect to celebrate a friend's birthday, just to say hello or for a happy mail swap!

Inspired by this tutorial by Septeria 18, I first created an envelope with a piece of 6x6 paper from the Love Notes paper pad. I inserted a tag and some doilies in the big pocket and a few more goodies in the smaller front pocket: tiny tags, diecuts and stickers.
I also created a two-sided mini pocket letter with more goodies inside and a shaker pocket:
Folded in three, it fits nicely in the big pocket of the envelope. For another look here is a short video:
If you're inspired by this post to create some sweet happy mail, we would love to see it! Make sure to tag your creations with #doodlebugdesign so that we can admire them!

CANDY CARNIVAL HAPPY MAIL | with Shellye

Happy everything-Halloween month!  I'm so excited that one of my favorite months is finally here.  To go along with this month is one of my favorite things to make: happy mail!

I started with this cute, clear cosmetic bag (6.5"X4") that I found at The Dollar Tree and crafted items to fit neatly inside.

To the zipper pull I attached a shower-curtain ring that holds a spool of washi tape and a package of braddies.

Next up is this sweet little mini album!  To create this I followed the ingredients below:
12X12 sheet of paper scored at 3", 6" and 9"; turn the paper and repeat the scores again.
Next I cut the 3" and 9" vertical lines just up to the 3" horizontal lines.  To assemble the pages, I folded the pages and attached the panels to the one next to it.  The first panel and last panel will be single pages that you can attach together at the end of the process.
After decorating the cover and the inside pages with a swatch of paper, I kept the inside embellishments to a minimum so that it could still be folded.

Stickers, sprinkles, die-cuts and clips are perfect additions for the tiny-mini!
Lastly I made up an ensemble of bitty embellishments and a layered button sampler.

I started with some of the punch-out tags and then layered on the die-cut tickets, stickers, doodle pops clips and sprinkles!  For the buttons, I used a 3D adhesive dot to attach enamel sprinkles to the centers of the buttons.  Removable dots were used to add the buttons to the cute tent die-cut.
Now isn't that sweet!  All of those yummy colors will make your pen pal drool :)

Thank you for joining us today!

HAPPY MAIL EMBELLISHMENT BOXES | with Shellye

Who doesn't love happy mail? Whether you love creating them, getting them or both, these little Embellishment Boxes make the sweetest gifts...especially when they're filled with Doodlebug Designs' goodness!

I started with this clear, plastic storage box that I found at The Dollar Tree; it measures approximately 7.5" X 1.75" X 6.5" and has a hinged lid.

To begin I traced the top and bottom sections of the lid onto 12X12 paper and then cut out.  I used a double-sided adhesive sheet to completely cover the backside of the trimmed paper and then attached to the lid.  As you can see, there is a small domed portion in the center, which is left uncovered.  I love how the embellishments show through!

Next I sorted through the various die-cuts from the Simply Spring Collection and decorated the front as shown.
Keep in mind the pattern direction of the paper as you'll be able to see it once the box is opened :)
Onto the really fun part: filling the compartments with goodies!  Make layered tags, bows, clips and samplers of washi tapes, stickers and die-cuts.  For a filler I used crinkle paper that was tucked into sections as needed.

Here are a few ideas to make all-ready-made items unique:
  • Use embroidery floss cards to wrap samplers of washi tape and twine around
  • Combine 2-3 small containers of glitter by wrapping them with baker's twine and then embellish further with a cute mini tag
  • Add ribbon or twine to the all ready adorable Jelly Clips
  • Cut apart Cute Clips and dress up the top with a strip of folded-over patterned paper
  • Attach small stickers to Mini Clothes Pins

And if you love stamping and die-cutting you'll surely want to color-up some of these cute mini layered tags!  Here I've used alcohol markers to color in the images and then embellished further with a glitter brush pen and enamel dots for the cheeks!
I hope that you've enjoyed taking a peek at this project and will whip one up for your favorite crafty friends!
