Sketch Inspiration for Layouts | with Melinda

What's your go-to inspiration source for layout design? Pinterest seems to be a popular destination however from personal experience I start looking with good intentions and then find that an hour or two has passed and I've pinned 300 landscaping designs and clean eating recipes. So, one of the best and quickest ways to get a design down on paper is the humble sketch. You are always assured of perfect balance, an aesthetically pleasing design and the right amount of journaling space for what you want to achieve because you get to select the sketch that best suits your needs.

Becky Fleck is one of the all time sketch-masters and has been designing layout ideas at PageMaps for as long as I've been scrapping. Today she has uploaded a brand new month of creations at PageMaps which are sure to give you the perfect inspiration for your next layout including the sketch I used for my layout.
As you can see, I didn't deviate from the original design of the sketch because as soon as I saw that stitched heart I knew I wanted to recreate it exactly as it was. And I've been dying to use this new variegated thread I bought because it was the perfect match for Doodlebug's Hello collection.

July PageMaps Sketch with Kathy Skou

Hi Everyone!  It's Kathy today with my PageMaps Sketch Challenge Layout! The Doodlebug Design Team were all given great sketches to play with from the July PageMaps release.   I received this fabulous sketch from Becky Fleck...

I had a lot of fun with this sketch.  I found this picture of my daughter and friends in front of their freshman dorm, and couldn't resist using some At the Zoo papers and embellishments to scrap it!  Take a peek...

I just adore the little critters in this collection.  I used a whole bunch of them from the Icons Sticker Sheets and the word stickers from the This and That Sticker Sheet are always a favorite!

I finished it all off with a fun mixed alpha title using some Teensy Type Letters and the "wild" stickers from the At the Zoo Icons Stickers..  Be sure to take a peek at the other posts from the last couple of weeks for more Doodlebug Design/PageMaps Inspiration!  That's it for me today, thanks for stopping by to peek!

Doodlebug Doodles: Card 1

We thought it would be fun to start sharing our version of traditional sketches, but we call the "Doodles." Sometimes we'll share our latest Doodles and then share the projects created off that Doodles. And other times we might issue a challenge to our fans to see what you can do with our fun Doodles. So here's our first....

We combine a pink Polka Dot Create-A-Card base, Lily White Sugar Coated Cardstock of course one of our new Doodle-Pops (baby girl) and our new Doodles Cardstock sticker sentiments (it's a girl). This card came together in not time at all and with the help of our Doodles sketch it was super easy.

Thanks for checking out of new Doodles feature!
