Thankful For Challenge: Adorable Photo Frame by Brigit

Hello Doodlebug Fans, it's Brigit here sharing a picture frame I made for my Thankful project. There are so many things I'm thankful for and this little guy, my grandson is high on that list, he's an absolute treasure.

I used one of my favorite Doodlebug collections, Flea Market to create this frame! It's put together with cut files from the flea market collection, these are svg files from Lori Whitlock's shop that I cut out with my Cricut Maker but you can also get these files from the Silhouette Design Store. I'll list all the flea market cut files used below.

These adorable eyes on the crow are from the eye candy sprinkles pack, the eyes on both mice are also from this same pack. All the flea market pattern paper used is from the 6 x 6 pack except for the pumpkin which is merry maples from the 12 x 12 pack. Other paper used, lily white and stone gray from the rainbow gingham-linen petite pack, beetle black dot-grid petite print and bon bon textured cardstock.

The letters are from the bumblebee teensy type cs stickers pack which just happen to fit perfectly on my banner without measuring, lucky me! The little acorn is a sticker from the flea market icon sheet and the brads are mini antique brass, love these! I also used three matte sprinkles from the zoo assortment pack on the pumpkin.

You can get all the flea market svg files in one collection or separately - sunflower - pumpkins - mice - crows - box of apples - a list of flea market cut files from the Silhouette Design Store can be found here.

Hope you've enjoyed this project, thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Thankful For Challenge: Double the Layouts by Caroli

Hi there peps! How are you? Caroli here sharing my take of this Thankful Challenge we have this week at Doodlebug Design DT.

I love this time of the year, it's already spring in my side of the world and this means I am happy for no reason, I can appreciate good things of life and feel thankful for them. Having this in mind, I made these two layouts just to express how thankful I am for the most important people in my life: my husband and kids.

For both layouts I used Cream & Sugar collection because I really can't get enough of it, it's so cute

First one features my family on the last birthday of my love last month. We have just a few pics of the four of us together, and in this one we all are looking at the camera and not moving or making a silly face, so basically it is a MIRACLE! LOL! I loved this pic, so of course I had to use it asap.

I wrote a lot of journaling, as usual, expressing how lucky and thankful I feel for my family and for the current moment in my life. I thinks it's a good thing to do to write about happy times so this memories will help you going through hard times, when they come, don't you think?

I used a lot of embellies from the Odd & Ends package in this layout, and also some Doodle Pops and Shape Sprinkles. In opposite corners I created some embellishment clusters with them, they look cute

I placed a diecut heart I cut with my Silhouette Cameo just to create more layers, because who doesn't love a lot of layers, uh?

For my title I used a yellow Abigail alpha, I love this new typography, it's cute and fresh! I combined it with some more words I cut withy Silhouette Cameo, the free font is Learning Curve.

My second layout features my two kids last summer while they were having fun at the pool. I can't express with words how thankful I am to have them, they are silly, crazy, and sometimes I just feel like sending to the orphanage (who hasn't, really?) but at the same time they are funny, lovely kids with a heart of gold, they certainly color my life like no one else and I thank everyday for having them with me ♥

In this layout I created some kind of embellishment cascade using lots of Odds&Ends, Doodle Pops and Shape Sprinkles. When it comes to embellishments, Doodlebug's are the best ones!

I used this card from the Oods & Ends to write my journaling, this time I didn't get crazy writing, haha!

I enjoy this challenge, it's good to have a reason to stop and think for a moment about good things in our life and for being thankful for them ♥ Hope this will inspire to create something now, have a great day!

Tuesday Tutorial: Thankful Fortune Cookies

by Stephanie Buice

It is a tradition in our family that at our Thanksgiving dinner we each go around the table and say what we are thankful for. While there are so many things I appreciate about each member of my family I wanted to let them know one main thing about them that I am thankful for. I wanted to do something a bit different this year, so I went to pinterest for some ideas. I found some fortune cookies and just had to find a way to incorporate them in our meal and this is what I came up with... Thankful Fortune Cookies.

Although these took a couple tries to get the hang of, once I got the folds down they came together quickly.

Here's How:

Step 1: Cut out 4.5 inch circles from double sided cardstock (One circle= one cookie). Fold circle in half creasing only the center, do not fold along the entire length.
Step 2: Open your circle and insert thankful message into the cookie center.
Step 3: Push in center of your cooking to form the center fold. Place your adhesive on one side of your crease.
Step 4: Pushing in the center of your cookie continue folding until it's shaped like a fortune cookie. Press together the ends to make them stick together.
Step 5: Make your flags by wrapping double sided cardstock around toothpicks and placing adhesive in the center to hold them together, then add your names. ( I printed mine for lack of enough of each letter but Teensy Type or mini rubons would have been perfect!)

Step 6: Insert flags into the centers of your fortune cookies, positioning them so they will sit flat on each person's plate.

There you have it! These were simple to make, did require many supplies and will add a personal touch to your table making each person feel welcomed, valued and loved. Enjoy and Happy Thanksgiving :)
