FARMHOUSE TURKEY TIME TREAT HOLDERS | with Kathy

It's almost Thanksgiving... you know what that means... Turkey!  What do you call a group of turkeys?  After a search online I came up with a few options... a Flock, a Rafter, a Gang, and in some cases a Gaggle.  Whatever you call them, I created a whole bunch of them using the Farmhouse collection and the Turkey Time Doodle Cuts.  Take a peek...

We have a big crew for Thanksgiving... I made these little turkeys into a treat holders to put on everyone's plate.  These would also make super cute classroom treats, or a little something for your office friends.

Using the Turkey Time Doodle Cuts, I cut the pieces from a combination of Farmhouse Coordinating Textured Cardstock, Farmhouse Patterned papers and some Petite Prints.  The little eyes were done using An Eye for an Eye Shaped Sprinkles.

On the back of each turkey I created a triangular holder... it serves double duty.  First, of course, it holds the candy treat, and it also allows the turkey to stand upright.  It's really simple to put together.  I cut a strip of Textured cardstock measuring 1" x 6".  I then scored it at 3/8", 2 3/8" and 3 5/8".  I added a Lindor Ball using a glue dot, then secured the triangle, and to the back of the turkey using double sided tape.

I put together a quick video tutorial showing how I assembled them.  Once the papers were cut, they went together super quick!

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!  Thanks for stopping by to peek!

GREAT OUTDOORS GRATITUDE JOURNAL GIFT SET | with Wanda

Hello Doodlebug Friends! I'm so excited today to share a project with the new Great Outdoors Collection! Happy November - I love November! A time of gratitude and Thanksgiving... This new collection is perfect for so many occasions: Fall, Camping, New Home, Cute Animals Scrapbooks, and Thanksgiving. The images that jumped out at me right away were the trees and leaves, and that gorgeously cozy cabin. I decided to make a gratitude journal using the warm autumn tones. And because I will probably give this as a gift, I made a small card to hold a Starbucks card, and a straw decoration. A cuppa and journaling!

I made the journal myself by covering chipboard in awesome patterned papers and then binding it with my We R Memory Keepers Cinch Tool. Here are my three pieces in this project.

1

I gathered lots of trees and hearts and mushrooms... Then I grouped everything around the cozy cabin. I used my sewing machine to sew some of the trees and all around the edges of the yellow patterned paper. I splashed on some white ink. I also used Great Outdoors stickers, Sprinkles and more.

1

I covered the front and back chipboards with the cool woodgrain paper. Then I added the layer that is stitched. I wanted it a bit shabby so I turned up the edges with my fingers.

1

I used the 'thankful' and 'so blessed' stickers to make it a gratitude journal.... The inside pages are a mix of kraft cardstock, white cardstock, Doodlebug Gingham and other Patterned papers...

This Starbucks card from this Fall is the perfect match to the Great Outdoors collection. I made a small kraft card and used a pretty gift card die for this piece. I'll write a note inside and give these gifts together. I think all my friends love coffee as much as I do!

I love that big buffalo check paper!

The front and back inside covers are finished off with this beautiful fall floral.

And this is the back cover! Those little owls are adorable! These warm fall colors, with a pop of teal, are so lovely. This entire new collection will warm your heart for sure.

That's it for me today! Thanks for spending some time with me here on the Doodlebug Blog. I'll be back in a couple of weeks with more fun things! Until then, happy crafting!

PUMPKIN SPICE TURKEY TREAT CONTAINERS | with Shellye

Little kids and big kids and grown adults too, would love to be greeted with these cute TURKEY TREAT CONTAINERS; add a name tag and use them for your place settings as well!

Let me begin by sharing my YOUTUBE CHANNEL, where I have a complete step-by-step process video of how to put one of these together and all of the supplies needed.

I started with a 12x12 sheet of the Bon Bon Buffalo Check-Woodgrain patterned papers and adhered it to a heavyweight cardstock.  Next, I die-cut the scallop shape using the next-to-the-largest die from the "Nesting Scallops" Doodle Cuts set.  The outer scalloped circle fits nicely onto the plastic storage cup.  I found a package of the disposable cups at the dollar store!

Next, I die cut the inner circle using a 1.75" circle die and hot glued it to the bottom of the cup.  A smaller 1.5" circle die was used to die-cut the head.  The wings were simply cut using the plaid paper from the Pumpkin Spice 6X6 Pad and the Leaf Die from the same Nesting Scallops die set.

For the feet I used the square tag die from the Mini Tags Doodle Cuts and cut a piece from the orange woodgrain paper.  The tab of the tag was trimmed off, the paper folded in half, and then glued to the bottom of the scallop.  I also used one of the larger hearts, from the same die set, to die cut the wattle (I call it a goozle in the video hahaha!). The beak is a snip from the orange Paper Frills scalloped paper :)
A couple of black Sprinkles for the eyes, a bow and tag and it's ready for filling with treats!

Again, I hope that you'll hop over to my YOUTUBE CHANNEL to see the full process and glean a better understanding of just how easily and quickly this sweet little project comes together.
Thanks for joining!

Thankful Project: Banner and Favors by Wendy Sue

Well, hello there Doodlebug pals!  It's Wendy Sue here today, I know Halloween is tomorrow, but I'm getting a little jump start on the next holiday, which will be here before we even know it!  I love adding little festive touches to our Fall decor to turn it into "Thanksgiving" decor, so I'm switching up this simple frame with a little "Thankful" banner!  And, don't look now, but I'm making some little party favor type boxes to fill with delicious white chocolate popcorn!

Since Doodlebug didn't come out with a new collection for Fall or Thanksgiving this year, I wanted to use some of my favorite fall colors from the basics collection.  I used a leaf die to cut each colorful leaf and beautiful gold "Abigail" letter stickers to create each flag on the banner. Each set of leaves is connected to the banner with a gold or brown mini clothespin.

I used some pre-made craft boxes for the treats, but, of course, I doodlebugified them!!

I used the same leaf die-cuts, along with mini doilies, mini clothespins, and doodle twine.

Then I filled each one with yummy white chocolate covered popcorn!

Wouldn't it be cute to add a name to each clip and use these as placecards for Thanksgiving?!?

To sum up, I'm super thankful for all things Doodlebug!  I'm always inspired when I pull out Doodlebug products to create!  Hopefully you're finding time to be grateful and celebrate it over the coming weeks!

Fall Friends Collection: Oversized Thanksgiving Place-card Tags by Wendy Sue

Hi Doodlebug friends!  It's Wendy Sue here with you today, sharing a project I whipped up for Thanksgiving Dinner!  Actually, it's a project for our post-Thanksgiving dinner.  You see, we always celebrate Thanksgiving with all of our relatives at my parent's house, but then I make a smaller version for just our little family to have here at home.  I usually don't do a lot of dressing-up the table with decorations, but when I saw the super cute Thanksgiving elements in the "Fall Friends" collection I just had to do a little something special.  Instead of small place-cards, I decided to use the large tags from the patterned paper to make over sized Thanksgiving place-card tags to lay on each of our plates.
Here's a look at each of the tags:
I cut the bases from the 12x12 sheet, then cut a small piece of patterned paper from the 6x6 pad to fit over the center of each tag.
I added the sweet die-cuts with foam adhesive dots...and I added some of the stickers with foam adhesive dots too!
I added sprinkles and shaped sprinkles to some of the tags.
And mini clothespins too!
I added names with the Jack & Jill rub-ons...one of my all-time favorite Doodlebug products!
I can't wait to dress up our little family Thanksgiving table a little bit this year!
What would YOU create with the fun "Fall Friends" collection?!?

Tradition Layouts and Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Doodlebug Design. We are thankful for our blog followers, customers and retail partners and hope you enjoy time today surrounded by people you love!

We thought it would be fun to share some layouts focused on traditions since this time of year we focus on many traditions with our families.

Upholding The Tradition
by Melinda Spinks

One of the most memorable traditions I remember whilst growing up were the games of backyard football and cricket. It was almost always played when the cousins came over for Christmas or family get-togethers and was a very 'serious' competition! Well not really, but it was allot of fun and one of the rare times when the adults would stop working and just play! I decided to really focus on the colours of the photographs and create a whimsical style page to run with the theme of fun and frivolity and I'm just loving 'brads' at the moment which added that extra touch of whimsy.

Supply List: Petite Prints - Daisy Stripe (Bumblebee); Petite Prints - Dot Grid (Ladybug, Limeade, Tangerine); Fancy Frills Cardstock Stickers (Bumblebee, Lilywhite); Hopscotch Cardstock Stickers (Lilywhite); Jack and Jill Alphabet Rubons (Beetleblack); Doodle Twine (Halloween Assortment); Expressions Rubons (Playful); Chunky Brads (Bumblebee, Ladybug, Limeade, Tangerine); Mini Brads (Bumblebee, Ladybug, Limeade, Tangerine).

St. Maarten Tradition
by Monique Liedtke

Monique created a layout about the "St. Maarten" tradition they have in The Netherlands. It's a bit similar to Halloween: in the evening of November 11children carrying lanternsring the bells of neighbouring housessing a song and ask for sweets. For this page she used the Halloween collection "Haunted Manor".
