HOMETOWN USA SMALL FORMAT SCRAPBOOKING | with Nathalie

Summer is here, and the vibrant Hometown USA collection is sure to help you document your memories regardless of the size and format of your choice. Though, I keep 12x12 scrapbook layouts, my heart is in small format (traveler's notebooks and 6x8 albums) for my daily documenting. So, when I saw the new Doodle Cut die sets, the idea for these spreads came together.

I love how these entries turned out using the die cut pieces along with embellishments from the collection.

First, I use the new Festive Florals Doodle Cuts set to create my jar of flowers for my layout. I used the the dies and papers from the 6x6 paper pad, as well a papers from the Petite Prints 6x6 paper pads. I wanted to create the frosted look of a glass, so I decided to back the jar die cut with vellum.

I completed the rest of the layout with pieces from the collection, I made sure to add small clusters of Sprinkles to tie it all together.

For my next spread, I chose to work with the new Pocket Full O' Pride Doodle Cuts for my spread. This time, I used the dies to help me create a grid style design for my page.

I started by cutting all the pieces for my little pocket using the die and papers from the Hometown USA 6x6 paper pad, and coordinating textured cardstock. I created 3 pockets, two of them are set on the right of the page. Once the flowers were in place, I added a few pieces of Chit Chat to help me tell the story.

I finished this spread by adding my photo atop the last pocket. Then used Bits and Pieces and a few extra stickers to complete the spread. I love how these turned out, and I hope they inspire your next project featuring Hometown USA! XO

Petite Prints Traveller's Notebook Pages & Card | with Nathalie.

Hello, I am here today to continue our feature of the Petite Print papers and in particular the 6x6 paper pads. I love the tiny patterns, the thickness and the rainbow of colors in these pads! Not only that, they are perfectly scaled for traveler's notebook spreads too.
Because I had printed a large panoramic photo, I wanted to use papers that would enhance it but not take away from it. The tiny patterns in the Petite Prints are gorgeous and discreet. Look at these details up close...

To create these pages, I pulled several dark grey papers: the floral one is from the Floral-Graph Rainbow Petite Prints 6x6 pad and the dot and stripe ones are from the Dot-Stripe Rainbow Petite Prints 6x6 pad. The journaling and torn edges on the bottom of my photo are done with two papers from the Floral-Graph pad (which is definitely my new favorite).
I used several blue mini doilies as embellishments including one supporting my title, spelled with Abigail alphabet stickers in white. Enamel dots in Beetle Black add the perfect finishing touch.

Once I was done, I couldn't resist making a card with the pretty scraps sitting on my table:
To the Petite Prints papers, I added die-cuts from the So Much Pun collection (Chit Chat and Odds&Ends packs) plus a few enamel dots. I love how easy and fun it turned out to be!

Do not hesitate to purchase those 6x6 Petite Prints pads because you will get tons of use out of them!

Sweet Summer | Travellers Notebook with Jennie

Working with bright and fun colors and icons really gets you in the mood for Summer planners. I just love the Sweet Summer collection for this very reason! The colors and patters are so perfect for the travelers notebook that I was working on.
I knew I wanted the title to stand out, with a doily and sticker it was easy to create a focal point. I love the layering of these two! The black alpha stickers create amazing contrast that I just love!

It was important to add a few embellishments (though not too many) to highlight the photo. The sun matched the theme of the page perfectly.
This just makes me swoon. The cute tab detail!!? How fun is that? And that Jelly Clip? It just matches the theme of the page perfectly!
I just couldn’t stop, I was having g so much fun. Do, I had to whip up a single page in the same travelers notebook. I stuck to a more blue color palette and I love it! How fun is it mixed with the yellow? And what about the combo of the alphabet stickers? Isn’t that fun?
Are you planning all of the fun you can create with Sweet Summer? I can’t wait to do more!

Embellishing Focus | Floral Swags and Clips by Anabelle

Doodlebug has so many wonderful embellishments that complement the collections. I decided to use them to create some decorations for my Traveler's Notebook and my planner. Floral swags are so trendy right now as design elements for the front covers of Traveler's Notebooks. I decided to make one! Here's how it turned out.
I started off my punching flowers from the polka dot patterned paper pad. I used the twine and wrapped it around the larger flower, securing it on the back with tape.
Next, I adhered this flower to another large one using foam adhesive.
I used a smaller flower with a punched paper circle as a topper. Then, I added some sprinkles for even more texture and dimension. I adhered this flower with foam adhesive, as well. My final step was to fold one of the large doilies in half and adhere the three flowers to it. The doily folds over the elastic on the front of the TN. I secured it with one of the small clothespins. Here's how it looks on my notebook.
As you may know, I love making planner paper clips for my notebooks. I decided to use the small flower punch to create some clips. Here's how they turned out...
Again, I used the sprinkles in the center of the flowers. This time I used the small paper clips to make the flower stems. I clipped them to the flower, then adhered the the punched circle with the sprinkles. Then, I hot glued the flowers to a paper clip.
Don't they look cute sticking out of the top of the notebook??? I also was able to use the embellishments in the front pockets of my planner. Here's how it turned out.
I used the sprinkles to embellish some die cuts and a sticker from the adorable Spring Things collection. I held them in place with the clothespins. And I was able to add in a couple of the adorable floral shaped paper clips.

I made another twine floral embellishment and added it to the pocket.
To tie things all together, I made a weekly spread in my planner using Spring Things. I don't typically add a lot of bulk to these pages because it's hard to write on them if I do, but the floral clips I made were the perfect accent, along with another couple of the flower paper clips.

As you can see, I was able to use the sprinkles, paper clips, twine and clothespins in a variety of ways on my notebook and planner. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Embellishing Focus | Traveller's Notebook by Caroli

Traveller's notebooks have been something I've admired from afar but always wanted to attempt. So, this project is important for several reasons: first, it's the first time I've documented a trip on the go. I was afraid of not being able to accomplish it (I am a complete fail at daily documentation) but I worked nightly during the trip and also used airport waiting time and even on the plane to work on it.
Second, this project documents the wonderful trip I made last month when I went to Costa Rica to teach a scrapbook class. It was the first time I taught a class out of my country and had such a blast, certainly it is a memory I wanted to document on the go so I didn't miss any of the important details.
I don't know if there are rules for making a TNB, but in my case I used it like a diary, where I wrote my feelings during this trip and also documented all the things I made. In this page I also wrote some goals for the trip.

I used So Punny collection for the class I taught, and my sweet friend and the woman behind the event, Elvira, ordered some stinking cute cookies featuring the typewriter and sewing machine icon of the collection, how cute is that!! Of course I documented it :)

After the class I had the joy of spending some more days in the country enjoying its wonderful beaches and wildlife, I loved how I was able to document all these great memories.

In this page I used a tiny envelope to add a few more pics and memorabilia which I held into place with another Jelly Clip because it was too adorable not to use.
These two photos are so silly bt I loved them! When my friend Elvira told me about all the wildlife in the park I got the idea that I needed to take some selfies with as many animals as possible (yeah, I'm that crazy!). I was lucky enough to score a selfie with a monkey and one with an iguana, it was so much fun!

This certainly was a memorable trip and I am so glad I was able to documented it on the go, because I  wrote all my feelings and ideas at the exact moment they were happening :) I hope you liked this idea and give it a try maybe on a future trip, if I could, you can! See you on a next post, hugs!

Chit Chat | Traveller's Notebook Pages with Nathalie

I have been documenting a day trip to the desert in a traveler's notebook insert for a bit and I used the So Punny collection to finish the last two pages. My goal here was to use the Chit Chat elements for a non-Valentine's project, showing you how versatile they are.

I first cut a piece of 12x12 Plaid paper to the size of my right page. After placing my photo strip, I added two speech bubbles from the Chit Chat pack adhering the bigger one with foam dots for dimension. For the left side, I really wanted to use the big Love arrow diecut (also from the Chit Chat pack) and found a couple of papers in the So Punny 6x6 paper pad to add layers under my photo. The arrow diecut is also on foam dots and brings the eye to the photo.
The journaling tucked under the photo is actually done on the scalloped flap of an envelope from the Love assortment of Cards & Envelopes (I used the rest of the envelope on my next page). Since this is about a trip to the desert, I chose to add a couple of cactus stickers from the Icons sticker sheet. They just make me smile.
I finished off the spread with a cute flower clip and assorted enamel dots.
The next page was the last page of my book so I couldn't stop here! I fed a piece of the Work of Heart paper into my typewriter to write the last lines. I liked the notebook piece that was already signed XOXO.
I selected two more diecuts from my Chit Chat pack, the banner to use as a title and a yellow heart. Feeling like it still needed something, I framed my page with bracket stickers from the This & That sticker sheet. I like how they add just a touch of color.

I just love working in this format and I am so very excited about the upcoming Doodlebug Design Daily Doodles Traveler's Notebooks and inserts! I can not wait!

Cream & Sugar | Traveller's Notebook with Jennie + Video Tutorial

Hey, there!  Jennie here and I am so excited to share with you how I have set up my single travelers notebook using Doodlebug Designs Cream + Sugar collection.  I love the colors (oh so cute!) and the images (even cuter!) and it's the perfect way to create a cheerful planning space.
I am trying out a single pocket size Travelers Notebook for my main creative planner. I like to plan my memory planning in here and then keep some other fun items in here, as well.  I thought I'd try a single and see how I liked it.

Where to begin with all that cute?!  How about with the dashboards?  They are inspiring and I think that is key.  Having something that makes you smile and want to open up your planner and that keeps you on track!
IMG_7801
This clear dashboard is durable yet cute thanks to the die cuts!  It definitely makes me want to flip through and see more!
IMG_7802
How about that cluster of die cuts and stickers on soft vellum?  It allows for decoration and distinction in a less harsh way.
IMG_7803
Die cuts are, of course, the star of the show!  Change them out on top based on your mood or what's going on. But, of course, dashboards aren't the only thing here.  We've got clips and cute storage solutions, too.
Want to see how all of this came together?
Check out my video sharing the set up and flip through of my functional + creative travellers notebook!
