PRETTY KITTY UPCYCLED CONTAINER | with Karen

It's spring time up here in Calgary. My first blooms are out on my pasque flowers so I decided to honour the occasion with a project inspired by flowers! So it's a good thing there is an amazing new stand alone die cute set called Thanks a Bunch from Doodlebug. Filled with amazing blooms that can be layered, pretty leaf shapes and even some birds, this set will have you seeing flowers everywhere, even if it isn't spring time where you are.

   Box-full

I decided to feature the die cut flowers together with the new Pretty Kitty collection and upcycled a clear container that I had been saving.

  Flowers-1

I cut out the blooms using the Rainbow textured cardstock, keeping each one somewhat monochromatic. I then attached them to the top of a paper wrap that I create with the Pretty Kitty 12x12 paper with some foam adhesive for some more dimension.

  Kitty

And while the project is definitely heavy on the flowers, I also wanted to play with the kitty theme so I added a few sticker elements both on the front and the back of the wrap. I finished it off with a sentiment from the Chit Chat pack and I was all set. The whole thing slides off the container easily so I can fill it with treats. Now, what to fill it with?

  Flowers-2

Well, whether or not you have blooms where you are, I hope these ones brought a smile to your face today! Thanks for stopping by! Hugs,

CUTE & CRAFTY UPCYCLED NOTEBOOKS AND ORGANIZER | with Wanda

Hey crafty friends! Today I'm sharing a project made with the Cute and Crafty Collection! I am totally in love with this collection for making cards and presents for all my crafty friends. How nice to have paper, stickers and embellishments that are all centered around our favorite pastime - crafting! Yippee! Today I am sharing how I reuse and recycle other things using Doodlebug supplies. I made two composition books and a small organizer (or pencil) bin. These would be great to give a crafty friend, to send in the mail, or even would be fun if you wanted to host a creative event! There is no limit to how you can decorate and personalize this project. I buy the inexpensive composition books at Staples - they are less than a dollar!

This little organizer bin is actually a cookie tin! I covered it with paper, and also decorated the lid. You could use it for pencils, pens, scissors etc. or put the lid on and store your secret treasures! All of the papers, stickers and supplies are from the Doodlebug Collection. I love these happy colors together.

50

I started each book by covering the front cover of the book with the 12x12 patterned papers. That was my foundation... Then I used all the other supplies to decorate the books. Flowers, gems, stickers...I love it all!

I really like to layer all of the things! Different textures and shapes! The Flowers are from the Cute and Crafty Bits and Pieces pack. The scissors are a Doodlepop!

I used pieces from the Chit Chat package, the Odds and Ends package and the Bits and Pieces package. It's so easy to craft when everything matches perfectly.

These are the plain composition books and the tin I started with. I always save cool tins and boxes to repurpose! (oh and I love cookies, LOL).

This book cover has a camera theme! I added a strip of repeating pattern across the bottom of each book. This one has cameras!

55

That's my motto: Eat, sleep, craft, repeat! (maybe I would add drink coffee!)

Here's the cover of the organizer bin. A simple stitched circle out of patterned paper. I covered the bin with patterned paper and added a sticker scalloped border. I added the saying with foam tape and a layer of hearts paper.

That's it for this project! Wishing you a happy day full of crafting and fun. I'll see you back here real soon! XO

MADE WITH LOVE RECIPE HOLDER | with Shellye

Today I'm sharing a repurposed Valentine sign that I turned into an everyday recipe holder using the new "Made With Love" Collection!

Any type of signage will work, but I've used a Valentine mason jar-shaped sign from the Dollar General.  I removed the jute bow and the gingham hearts before starting:

Next, I cut strips of patterned paper that matched the sizes of the "slats" and glued them over the painted area of the sign.

I wanted to add some color along the seams of the slats, so I cut strips of the Paper Frills in half and then glued them just along the edge.

I cut strips of paper to cover two wooden clothespins and then glue them to the two middle slats.  To the bottom right, I added a sticker and Doodle Pops!

To the top (below the metal lid) I added a pink scalloped background that I cut from a card base.  Next, I wound chunky twine around horizontally and then layered on die-cuts, stickers and Doodle Pops.

I love that the sign can be hung or placed on an easel for easy viewing of the recipe that's been clipped on.  What a sweet gift for your favorite baker...just add hand-written recipe cards and a blank booklet of the fun Recipe Cards!
