Cutting Doodlebug's Sugar Coated Cardstock with the Silhouette Cameo

Hello Doodlebug fans! I am here today to give you a quick tutorial on how to cut Doodlebug's amazing Sugar Coated cardstock with the Silhouette Cameo. If you don't already know - I LOVE using my Silhouette Cameo to make all sorts of projects so it is always really important to me that the paper I use is compatible and easy to use with my Cameo machine - and let me tell you - Doodlebug's Sugar Coated cardstock cuts BEAUTIFULLY!  I decided to make a few of these fun purse themed projects and to give you a couple of tips on just how easy it is to use the Sugar Coated cardstock with your machine - so here we go!

First off - pick the shapes you want to use - I used the following shapes to make my projects-

Now here's a sneaky little tip - While I love using my Silhouette mat to cut normal papers - I like to use my heavier Cricut mat when I cut heavier papers such as the Sugar Coated cardstock - it loads just fine into the Cameo :) I like to use a fairly new sticky mat so there will be no shifting going on.

Now - Go to your Silhouette cut settings and find the one that says glitter cardstock. Also make sure that you have the speed set super low - I use a 2 or 3 and that the Double Cut box is checked.

Now adjust your blade to 8 - this is the setting I have always used and it cuts great without cutting through my Cricut mat (can't say the same for my poor Silhouette mat - lol! )

Now go ahead and make your cut - and before I take my shape off the mat, I always lift one corner off of the sides of my paper up just to make sure that it cut all the way through.
So those are my few handy tips on cutting this fun paper - here's a few close ups of my projects - The Sugar Coated cardstock folds and layers beautifully and was so fun to work with! Hopefully with my tips you will find some fun shapes on the Silhouette to use with this cute glittered paper!

Thank you for stopping by - have fun!

Chevron Layout Inspiration by Shellye & Candace

What is better then chevron paper designs? Chevron paper designs with GLITTER on them!! We hope you find inspiration to create with Doodlebug's Sugar Coated Chevron Cardstock.

Swims Like a Fish Layout
by Shellye McDaniel
Hello there!  Shellye here to share a layout created with the amazing Chevron Sugar Coated Cardstock.

As you can see, I started out with the Swimming Pool and Bubblegum shades.  I cut the Bubblegum sheet into triangled pieces (there will be a total of four) and then layered two of the pieces on top of the Swimming Pool paper and machine stitched in place.

Next, I cut a mat to measure 7.75" X 7.75" from Lily White cardstock and then topped it with a 7.5" X 7.5" square of diagonal striped paper from the Sugar Shoppe Collection.  I wanted to highlight the darker pink stripes found in the paper, so I cut strips from the leftover Bubblegum Chevron and glued them in place.  Before adding to the layout, I machine stitched the two pieces of paper together around the edge.

For the title I took to my electronic die-cutting machine.  I used Halo Handletter font and cut from Lily White Cardstock with a shadow of Pistachio Cardstock.

I embellished with piece of a doily and various cardstock stickers and Doodle Pop.

I love the illusion made by adding the square mat to the center of the triangular design; it's made even more eye-catching with the use of the Sugar Coated Chevron!

Thank you for joining us today at Doodlebug Design!

Birthday Girl Layout
by Candace Zentner

Hey crafty friends!! Candace from Scrappin' 2 Little Princesses here today sharing a layout using Doodlebug's awesome chevron sugared cardstock. This cardstock is AMAZING!! Since it comes in all the great Doodlebug colors you can find a chevron to match any project you are working on! I am so in love with the Sugar Shoppe collection that I just had to use it along with matching chevron cardstock.

I am so in love with the pattern, texture and sparkle of this paper! I wanted to keep my layout very simple since the chevron is so great on its own.

So YUMMY, right?! It is the most beautiful, glittery paper I have ever seen (told you I was in love!).

I used some foam stickers on the back of my 'Birthday' stickers to make them stand out. I love how the grey title looked over the aqua chevron.

I made a fun cluster of elements in the corner in my layout using foam stickers of various thicknesses to create a lot of dimension and interest. Here is a side view, making the dimension easier to see:

I love that this cardstock can be incorporated into every single project! Make sure you take a peek at all the great colors it comes in.
Enjoy all the inspiration and great ideas the Doodlebug ladies have for you using this yummy cardstock!

Chevrons to Decorate Doors and Notebooks

3D Monograms
by Courtney Lee

Hey hey! So.... we were "assigned" (as if it's a chore!!! ;)) sugar coated chevron card stock to play with this time! I have had these cut files at the ready for a little while now and couldn't wait to put something on the girls' room door to identify it as both of theirs. I love ampersands so I had to get one of those in there too. :) Courtney from Court's Crafts here with a little door decor!

Hans (my husband) hasn't really let me put stuff on the girls' door. He is totally non committal and wont let me do it! He has vetoed almost everything... and then I made these. :)

My girls' names are Emmaline and Charlotte and I am totally enamored with everything "sisterly" as I was an only child. I wanted to make their monograms equal and opposite and since doodlebug makes everything in their "classic colors", I was able to do just that!

Of course I needed a little gold thrown in there. It's so *hot* right now. :)

And if you look closely - behind the gold - is tone on tone white chevron card stock

I love butterflies and their room is very "nature" themed and I thought that the spinkles vellum would look cute on top of the chevron so I double cut the butterflies and adhered them at the thorax.

Lastly, I added three pearls for accent at the bottom right of the letters.

Here it is on their door!

I had to get a picture so that you can see just how sparkly the sugar-coated card stock is. I know that when I see glittered card stock I am sometimes not too impressed with the amount of glitter on the card stock. I like it to SHINE! And no surprise here - doodlebug card stock does just that! Check. Out. That. Glitter!

Thank you so much for checking out my sugar-coated-chevron project! Make sure to check out how you can WIN SOME! :)

This is Court's Crafts signing out! Have a beautiful day!

Altered Book Cover
by Sharm Nidyanandan
Recently, we celebrated both our little girls birthday. What I wanted to make was a little notebook where our guests could pen down their message for my little girls to ponder upon when they're older.

As with every little girl's birthday, all things glittery is a must :) So what I did was, to alter a little book that you can get from any dollar store and bling up the front cover with the very lovely chevron cardstock.

Here's what my project looks like:

Some close-ups

Instructions:
1) Cut out a piece of chevron cardstock to cover the entire front page of the book leaving about 0.5 inches all around

2) Next, cut out a smaller piece of a different colour and use an edge punch to create a pretty border (you can also use one of the cutesy border stickers by Doodlebug ;))

3) Layer some stickers and make your own banner using the same chevron cardstock and add some bling and twine

Materials Used:
Item:4087 12x12 lily white chevron sugar coated cardstock
Item:4088 12x12 gray chevron sugar coated cardstock
Item:4078 12x12 bubblegum chevron sugar coated cardstock
Item:4185 sugar shoppe this & that sticker
Item:3208 doodle twine - bumblebee
