Back to School: Happy First Day Layout by Stephanie Buice

Happy First Day, By Stephanie Buice:

Hi Stephanie here today to share my back to school layout with you.
I can remember these days so well and all the excitement that went along with them, going back to school was so fun! I remember getting to go pick out new supplies and clothes, back to school shopping was awesome! And what little girl doesn't love a new back to school wardrobe!? I know I did and I know my two younger cousins do and this layout is of them.
I love how my aunt makes it a big deal for them on that first morning, she does their hair and gets them dressed in their new clothes for a few pictures before the bus picks them up. Looking back on these pictures I am reminded of how quickly time goes by.

For this layout I took one of the pictures I have of them together, these two are so close in age I love seeing their sisterly bond and friendship. I'm not sure they even ever fight!?
(haha who am I kidding? They're sisters.)
Of all the papers in this collection I think the Practice Makes Perfect paper is my favorite. I like how clean it is but still interesting.

I decided to use a long strip of it down the side of my layout to make sure your eye is brought all the way down to the bottom of the layout.

I think the little library pockets in this collection are perfect! I folded one up and stuck my journaling card on the inside of it using a mini paperclip to make taking it out super easy.

This collection is full of fun theme stickers so it wasn't hard to find the perfect embellishments.
I layered a few onto of my library card to add more color, that stack of books rocks.

Another thing I really like about this collection are all the washi tapes, I think they are the cutest mix of back to school essentials like the apples and the measuring tape. I mixed them in with some of the everyday washi like the black dots and red stripes, the look is so effortless.

I hope you like my page and found a bit of inspiration to get your back to school photos out to scrap, this collection has just about everything you could think of to get the job done perfectly.
Thanks for stopping by!
Stephanie.

Back to School: Layouts with Class Photos by Mendi

Hello Doodlebugs!  It's Mendi here today and I can't begin to tell you how excited I am for this newest Back To School collection by Doodlebug!  A school themed line has definitely been at the top of my wish list for awhile now and I couldn't wait to dig into a pile of class portraits that I have been saving up for years! I created my two layouts today with the idea that they could stand alone as well as compliment one another when placed side by side in my scrapbooks.
Up first is a star themed layout and quite a bit of layering with all the fun elements from the collection including pennants cut from the 6x6 paper pad, washi tape and the fun craft pocket to conceal my journaling.  For my title I paired the number "2" from the new Skinny cardstock stickers with a great cut file from Kerri Bradford's School Years set.
My next layout features the class photo from that same year.  I lucked out with this particular class photo in that I was able to trim it down from it's original 8x10 size to a more manageable size to fit my page.
Along the right hand side of page, I created a border from punched circles.  I love how this was the perfect place to ground so many of the adorable embellishments from the collection!
To include all the children's names that I trimmed from my original photo, I printed them out on a 4x6 index card and slipped it into my file folder which I cut on my Silhouette (and slightly stretched in width to fit my space).
I hope I've inspired you to pull out your own school portraits and play along.  Make sure to share your happy creations over at Doodlebug's Facebook Page. We always love to see what you have been up to!  :)
