Flower Card by Sherry Cartwright

I love to use sketches for inspiration.   Usually I toss and turn, flip and flop them, but I created my card very closely to this sketch by Page Maps.

I adore flowers of all kinds, especially paper.   I knew I wanted the focus from the sketch to be a circle and flower.  With that in mind, I set out to create a flower with layers of loveliness.   The base of the flower is a simple punched scalloped circle in white cardstock.  I topped it with a fancy frill border sticker in polka dots.  I adhered the beginning of the sticker onto the paper base, then in between each scallop in the border, I creased and tucked it to a circular shape to create petals of my flower.   I punched various circles for the flower center, then topped with a boutique button tied with doodle twine.

Leaves were simply cut from Petite Prints in grasshopper green and added a couple of rhinestones to mimic dew drops.

Card base is simply white cardstock, with a layer of white cardstock punched with notebook paper trim at the top and pink patterned cardstock at the bottom.  I freeform machine stitched a few circles in the area I planned to place the flower.   It adds detail without being too overwhelming.  All was placed on a white cardstock base with a red paper ribbon.  Here are a couple more flowers I made using the fancy frill stickers.   What a clever and pretty way to use those borders!

Supplies:  Cheery Cherries double sided cardstock, Heart to Heart double sided cardstock, Petite Prints – bubblegum dot, Petite Prints – green lines,  Sweet Cakes fancy frills, Sweet Cakes sugar coated cardstock stickers, Boutique Buttons – lily white, Doodle Twine – valentines assortment.
